That's good news Islandmaid, we certainly need more male primary school teachers! :T

VJsMum I have never owned a pair of DMs, but must admit to being very taken with a purple glittery pair I saw in a shop window last week!

ivyleaf I haven't been without a pair (or two) for the last 35 years...always boots though never the shoes and always in the original oxblood or black :D

There are some fabulous ones available now but oh so expensive
    .
They were relatively cheap and just functional footwear when I first started wearing them way back when...;)

I have this horrible mental image of a Ma Baker-type female in a long skirt and hobnail boots...

VJsmum, I thought when I was writing that post that I would probably be offending all the surveyors in skirts - DocMartens not withstanding - including a very good friend of mine. However, in the last 23 years I have bought and sold 6 houses, 7th coming up, and in each case the surveyors were as I described.

<<sigh>> i know and there is no reason why women can't do this job. That's one reason why my research is about just this...

mar you obviously did not have a daughter who wor DMs for school , going out and uni. Mine was devastated when they went out of fashion. She will be very happy when they come home next summer to find them back in fashion.

I've seen some very pretty ones too. DD only ever wore black.

You are clearly a woman I share many views with and have exactly the same preferences for clothes/foot wear, which have been adapted (slightly/necessarily) as the years rolled by ;)

My hard hat is off to you VJsmum :)

Just popping by to say hello and send much love to those in need, Burtha especially. My dear you have been through so much since I have ' known' you and you have got through it. Hug those close to you and sleep when you can. Lets hope 2018 is your year. xxx

Monna congrats on the house sale and hope you find the perfect bungalow soon.

Maggie I am so happy for you, will you be nearer Bolton centre or in a different direction? I would love to come and see you when you are settled. I will bring the cat so you can swing it as your flat sounded just to wee for the two of you.

Getting on with it here, a few ups and a few downs but still standing.

I survived a major mouse infestation caused by them digging up the next road to ours  Nearly drove me out of my mind but tbh it became a battle of wills and rather a lot of laughter at some points. I lost a lot of 'stuff' due to the evil little s*ds as they were eating the contents of a wheat filled hot water bottle thingy in my bedroom. I couldn't bear keeping fabric and papers that they were running through to get at the wheat. Even the cat joined in - eventually - and finished off the last invader as it was running round Dgs's play tent in the living room and was disturbing the cats sleep :rotfl:( the cat was asleep in the aforementioned tent)

    I will get my caravan

Ginny we are going right out to the boundary, well 3 houses from the boundary. We will be almost in Over Hulton.

No counting chickens before they hatch we have to persuade the landlord we can be trusted to pay the rent. Hopefully he will accept that DS will be capable of paying his half of the rent when he signs his permanent contract next Monday.

I must get to bed DS will be up in 43 minutes.
