monna The suggestion DS change his lunch hour made me laugh. He does not have an hour for lunch. With a 4.45 am start what time do you think he has his first break?
His lunch break of half an hour is at 8.30am. It is not legal for him to take it later than 10.15 am. He had a 15 minute break at 11.30 am. I know he would not want to come straight from work. Being covered in things like soup and yoghurt would not be a good impression. There fixed viewings usually have the landlord there so that you can ask him questions.
It may be near work but there is no transport, it is a good half hour walk each way. A big difference from the 2 & 1/2 each way from home at the moment. The other big consideration is it is a low rent.
By 1pm DS has already worked 3 hour overtime. He would be better skipping the overtime. They are contracted to do 6 hours but they work until they have finished all the orders. That is why he earns nearly twice his basic pay when the overtime is taken in. I know he won't skip the overtime because when people leave early the rest have to work even longer.
I understand your runs burtha they are your "me time." The rest of us, me included are thinking running "that much running would kill me!"0 -
nursemaggie, forgive my stupidity, I knew that your DS worked extremely odd hours but forgot just how very odd they were. I feel so desperate that what seems like the perfect house for you shouldn't escape.
It must be the week for dental work. I have just eaten a cheese sandwich for lunch that seemed to have a crunchy bit in it. It was a large piece of tooth! The dentist has kindly fitted me in next Friday, so a week of eating very gently.
The viewing went well although the lady seemed aghast that I only had one bathroom, apparently she has 3 where she is. She also thought that the garden wouldn't get enough sun. I pointed out that it faced south/east and in the summer had sun all day, but I don't think that I convinced her. For heavens sake! This morning, in the middle of November, half the garden was bathed in bright sunshine. We'll see. I have another viewing tomorrow morning.
The house looks unnaturally clean and polished and I probably won't be able to find anything for weeks.. I am taking the rest of today off and knitting.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Monna some people just try to find fault where there is none..if the viewer had done her research she'd know the garden was SE facing and get plenty of sun..!
Good luck with tomorrows viewing.
Well more ramblings from me...I have a confession to make..
I just could not face the world today so I have spent my whole day in bed only surfacing for food (and lots of it!)
I fell asleep on the sofa last night about 11:30pm and awoke just before 2am, went to bed but could not sleep. I spent the night on my laptop and ended up reading all about the International Dateline and looking at all the islands that lie either side of it and their respective time zones!!
Well that kept me entertained until about 7amwhen I dozed fitfully until 8:30am when I decided I just could not face the world today so I resumed my surfing and started eating....:o
Please refer to the above when questioning my inane ramblings and sanity'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Sometimes karcher, a duvet day is the only way to go. Don't apologise for it, it makes perfect sense. Going to sleep on the s of a is a common thing. I have a friend who reckons to spend from about 11.00pm to 4.00am every night on the s of a. Her bed sees very little of her.
You will be the 'go to' person when anyone needs to know about the time zones on the islands around the International Dateline. You will be much in demand for quiz evenings.

I'm really glad you did that karcher
i think you needed it.
monnagran What a silly woman that viewer was. Surely the estate agent's details must have stated how many bathrooms your house had *rolls eyes*. Let's hope tomorrow's viewer is more with-it!0 -
Hi ,
Well, did a short run this morning , but breezy ... but dogs love it ....talked to two very intresting tree cutting men at about 6 30 am ..he did stop his huge cutting tractor thing to let me get past
Came back from work and had a bit of a meltdown , 2 friends came around 1 to cut wood , the other for moral support ... so grateful , cutting blade died so thankfully he sorted some wood from else where and is back on Sunday to sort and cut . Other friend just listening as I sobbed ... so now at least they know what's going on ... and will help , brave face for everyone else ...
Teenager boy decided to have a attitude tonight , not the best idea ... about a hour or so later we had a chat ... now he understands why we need to stick together , mums not made of steel ...
So treat tonight was
chip shop tea .... epic fail ... kids fine , my veggie wrap was obviously made by a sadistic loonatick ... to spiced to eat ....
And I bumped the car , in a pitch black car park when I picked kids up ... 2nd bump in 29 year so I suppose not that bad .... kids thought it was odd I was laughing ....its only a bumper ....
Bedroom , is odd .... and cold ... there is a tv in there but I haven't had any tv on since the split .... cant be bothered , would rather be busy or outside .pointless just lying awake ... need to get it sorted in my head

burtha, sometime, somehow, something has to give. From what you say everything is going on in your head, and it will. Sometimes you think that you are going crazy, just re-re-running the tape of all that has happened. Although you might not believe it, I think this is pretty normal. It is certainly what happened to me and I know karcher finds the same thing and other people on here have been through it and come out the other side.
There isn't a magic solution, I really wish there was, and everyone has to stumble across ways to cope.
I plunged into self-improvement at first. Everyone was telling me that now I could rebuild my life, could really be myself and do what I wanted. and I really tried. My bookshelves are groaning with self-help books. I forced myself out to meet people and go places. I I overhauled my wardrobe. I started courses to find new interests. I felt worse and worse.
Finally I gave up, retired to my room, spent a lot of time in bed reading trashy novels to the background of TV that I wasn't really watching, and finally, finally began to heal.
I worry that your emotions are uncontrollable, your poor mind is exhausted and your body is stressed beyond endurance. No one can tell you what to do because we aren't YOU. All I can say is that when you find something that brings you a bit of comfort and peace, embrace it. It doesn't matter what it is or what other people think about it, just do it. Or don't do anything. We are all here cheering you on.
Now I must soon shift myself and remove all evidence that anyone actually lives in this house ready for the next viewing.
Tomorrow I don't think I will bother to get dressed.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY.
Don't confuse your path with your destination.........Just because it is stormy now, it doesn't mean that you are not headed for sunshine.I believe that friends are quiet angels

In the end, the sun comes up, the wee birds cheep, the sun goes down again, and the world keeps on turning. Stop fighting Burtha and just go with it - every day takes you nearer the top of the hole xxxxxxxxx0

burtha maybe a radio babbling Radio4 quietly might give enough background "white noise" to allow you to settle in your bedroom? I found it very helpful at night when not sleeping after me & ex-h split up.
Also, good that you have shared with one or two close friends, you now have someone to really hug you, rather than our virtual hugs xx2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I couldn't watch tv when I went through my divorce and still don't watch much even now 15 years on.
I also buried myself in trashy novels, in between trying to keep a job, any job whilst my ex managed to cause so many problems I got the sack, and trying to keep a roof over mine and my kids heads.
I know its hard Burtha but you will get there.
Fingers crossed you find a buyer soon Monna.Chin up, Titus out.0
