VJsmum way back in 1996-ish I had tree roots that had broken into the shared drain along the front gardens and then into our d/s loo which was in the middle of the house behind the kitchen with tiled floor. The insurance picked up the whole bill for our repairs so well worth keeping them in the loop.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

We will not be visiting the lovely house it has gone. We are not getting on very well as people keep wanting us to view at 7pm. For DS that is like asking a 9 - 5er to view at midnight.0

I'm so sorry about the house NM. I hadn't considered the shift worker aspect . I can understand your son's concerns about walking through town at night . Would he consider seeing if he can find a cheap bike for now on local FB or in the local free paper . Freecycle or similar if you have one near .
I think it's just my body telling me to rest . I feel much better now , not quite right but maybe another nights sleep will sort it .
Thank you and the others for your kind wishes .

I'm so sorry nm.
Could you not be an advance party to view property asap without DS if the appointment isn't at a good time for him. He must trust your judgement and know what you both would like.
You clearly need to be on the ball to catch a good property/home so if needs must that may be the only way of doing it.
Keeping my fingers crossed that something even better comes along very soon xx
Polly, I really hope you feel better soon and sleep well tonight. Listen to your body and keep resting xx'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

It is not the money there is no where to put a bike.
Remember we have no where to put the vacuum cleaner, a broom, a bucket, the ironing board all those sort of things. We have a few inches each side of our beds to get in and out and that's it. if he bought a bike he would have to go in the garden and would be gone in the morning.
Getting him to and from work is the reason we are moving. It takes 6 hours a day travelling. That leaves him no time for himself. This morning the minibus he has already paid for was not available until 5.48 am. What good is that when you start at 4.45 am. It cost him £10 to take a taxi.0 -
Karcher I'm finding they are not very willing to make appointments during the day. I am also finding it difficult to find out how to get anywhere on a bus. I went to enquire at the bus Station about buses. You need to know what bus you want and then what time you want to catch rather which one to catch to make the appointment.
You should have seen the face on the bloke at enquires when I asked him for a big timetable for all of the buses. You would have thought I was an alien from out of space asking him to sell me something worth a million and only offering a penny. Time tables are free but only one at a time.
They were very high up on a wall in very tight slots. I spent 3/4 of and hour jumping up and down and pulling them out 1 cm at a time. My ankles, knees, back and neck aren't half telling me off now.0 -

Sorry nm but :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Thank you for making me laugh.
Have you tried looking online for the bus timetables?
Your other post about your DS's travelling times, having to shell out on taxi's when he'd already paid for a bus made me want to weep.

Karcher, you reminded me that there's a site that works it all out for you. You can use places or you can use postcodes. Try this site NM

Sorry NM I thought your son no longer had a bike but didn't realise the reason why .
As posted above there are ways online to access routes and timetables . Our regional buses over a wide area have a large fold out route map of each area with bus numbers marked on the routes . That and the relevant timetables are available in the racks at the travel centre .
Have you dismissed the 2 houses you recently spoke of 1 being renovated , the other tenanted to end Nov .
Talking to my landlord friends , a good landlord will have a tenancy agreement which as well as pointing out all terms of the let will have a clause allowing viewings to take place by arrangement with the current tenant prior to the end of the current tenancy .
That would allow you to view before it was vacated and makes for a quick transition .
Originally you spoke of it being possibly six months before you could move , have you brought that forward now?
I wish something would come along . It's hard not to lose heart , there will be somewhere . Meanwhile rest those joints . Does it quieten down a bit once the nights draw in as far as the neighbours are concerned , I do hope so .xx

Exactly what I went for polly A timetable for every bus with a map showing all the routes. I have bought them before in other towns. I told the man what I needed and why. I said I was expecting to pay. He called the bus station manager to throw me out.
Have you ever tried busline cranky? If you don't know either the bus number or it's exact rout it shows you a list of times and changes with little pictures of a man walking followed by number e.g. 2 mins turns out they expect you to walk 2 miles in two minutes. As only about 50 men have broken the 4 minute mile since 1952, how can they expect unfit elderly people to do 2 in half the time. Means the bus you went for left half an hour ago and there isn't another for 2 hours.
They also tend to send you to London via Glasgow. I have to go to one hospital that is really a long way away. Thankfully I only have to go once a year. I have cut the travel time from about 4 hours each way to less than 2 hours. Google gave me a journey plan to go there it took 6 1/2 hours each way!
Polly of course we have not abandoned the other two houses. One is the one that they offered us a viewing at 7pm a week on Tuesday the other is the one still being renovated. I have sort of dismissed the the first one as if they have half a dozen already viewing they will probably get a tenant out of them so why bother with an awkward B that works such silly hours. Bet that same person would also complain if the walked into a supermarket at 10 am and found the shelves were empty because the blokes who make up the orders and pack into lorries don't start work until 9am like any sensible person. I don't expect to hear again.
Not heard back from the others who also have no pictures except the outside. I have now worked out a bus rout after all that jumping to get about 30 timetables. I do have 5 houses in a small area I could look at.
The "could take 6 months" was just me making an estimate. I've never taken longer than 2 years and average seems to be about 6 months. I have never been able to get through all their checks in less than 5 months then they ring you up and say you can move in today.
I learned today they can do it in 2 days. I recon that why they take so long is so they can justify charging you £1500 for their checks, that are for their benefit.
The other thing you need with online stuff is post codes. I can see the sense in not publishing the full address online.
Not disheartened only been a couple of weeks. I over researched the house I showed you all.0
