The price of butter is going up. I'm cringing at £1.45 for supermarket own brand and non organic.

I know, where did that come from? You'd expect butter to be relatively cheap after a summer of grazing without having to buy in feed
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • It only went up a couple of months ago. That will make it about a 60% rise. How can they justify it.

I wonder if it is a supply issue then? Maybe there isn't enough to meet demand.

Waitrose is actually relatively cheap for butter at the moment. They are selling own brand 500g packs for £2.65 so effectively £1.32 a normal sized pack

Hmm.....Christmas pudding with Dream Topping, anyone? _pale_
  • Butter is nice but not totally necessary, good bread is nice on its own. We live in changing times petals, what we have regarded as part of everyday life for a very long time now may be on the move upwards price wise and I get the feeling that the 'good life' we've all become used to is going to disappear into the lives of the very rich and the rest of us will have to adapt to what we CAN afford and learn how to make the best we can from what we can get. I guess it's how Grandma and her forebears lived, they weren't as healthy, as well grown or as long lived as we modern folks are but they still had as good a life as they could make. Interesting times indeed!

I agree Mrs LW. Once you've got the fillings in a sandwich you don't notice that there's no butter.
