Good to hear the tablets are working Florence. is it a big craft fair you take your makes to? You seem to have a lot.monna who originally trained the waiters? The old inconvenient memory is overworked at the moment. I seem to think she rescued at least two.I'd suggest a Fence party to cheer us all up once you're finally finished at Davids but it seems unwise while the ever adaptable Ming is considering Hypnotism who knows where that may lead. There was one party where noone could remember much. I was sipping mint tea and those remaining were pie eyed.If you're reading Nan I hope all is ok with you both. It's not the same without Amy Pond and her suitcase.I remember when we all had to look over our bit off Fence to check if you'd toppled over. Never a good idea sitting on top of a suitcase on top of a fence.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.8 -

Probably staring out of her bum SS. And don't be fooled, those steps lead down to a patio. DON'T GO THERE.
I'm always up for a party, but hear this everyone............................
my hot waiter stays chained to my wrist. All the time. There will be marshals on the gate, frisking guests for concealed metal cutters.
Just a friendly warning.
Today I have my lovely DGD for the morning while DS2 ushers DGS on to the ferry and back to the mainland and his mother. DGS has been staying with his Dad and Stepmum for the last 3 weeks and it has been lovely to see him.
Then I will be off to David's to do a bit of hand wringing in the ROD. I have shifted about 200 cassettes (remember those) 100 Video tapes, 500 magazines, dozens of defunct inhalers, 2 Zimmer frames, 1 commode and a partridge in a pear tree.
That's about 1/8th of the room done.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
People who need help sometimes look a lot like people who don't need help.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.11 -
If there is to be a party, I can bring some cheesy pineapple on stick things. We could use some of Florence's stuffed spider things - stick the cheesy pineapples all over them and train them to scuttle round the Fence for everyone to help themselves. Maybe even train them to balance little trays on their backs to serve drinks. There you go, who needs waiters when you have big demonic-possessed spiders to do the job?One life - your life - live it!8

That thought resonates Monna
apparently I have ‘got over ‘the death of my beloved DH because I am going out so much I exploded at a relative that actually I find being alone at home so hard and now they are not speaking to me !

I've just got out of doing one party and now you want another? Mum asked me this morning if I was planning a party for her birthday - she doesn't want presents, she doesn't want a party. I think that although she enjoyed last year, the constant procession of people (not invited, just people I thought might turn up with a gift or a card) was very tiring (I think it took me about a week to recover from the catering and planning for a 'safe socially distanced party').
Now I made a 3 month plan which ends on the 31st August and I was planning something (meant to stash cakes and marinaded cooked meat in the freezer, a bit at a time). However an accumulation of minor illnesses has made me slower than treacle and I'm struggling to motivate myself to cook. Mum wasn't eating much (tinned, soup, fruit and rice pudding) so I was buying fresh fruit and things like dips to tempt her (carrot and celery sticks chopped and peeled to nibble with them) and just grazing myself or having simple stuff like beans on toast and using any leftovers.
Since passing her cold/ cough thing onto me, she's finally improving and I'm getting worse. So her insisting on not having a party is a great relief (just hope none of the grand-daughters turn up with cupcakes and a raft of children or invitations to a barbeque or wanting to take her 'out' for a meal). So just writing out a list or nice simple things to eat including products she's mentioned (quiche from M's, scones from T's - yes I can make both of those but will conserve my energy for other tasks). Will do one order early next week and one near the end, but can drop the hunting down paper cups, disposable cutlery (still have some bits of the bamboo set from last year and any that went 'splintery' have been repurposed as plant labels).
I am looking after myself, taking things slowly and trying to do baby step improvements - tidied my bookshelves, not got rid of anything but there are only books on there rather than oddments from here, there and everywhere. I have an appointment with the practice nurse on Monday for a diabetic review (I asked for the blood test papers a while ago and had them done last week). I will try to fit in my mental health review as well and ask her about antibiotics - I know an appointment is supposed to be for one thing but I usually take a list and gabble my way through it (and haven't seen anyone about my health since January 2020). I may ask about a referral back to CBT (just depends whether the trek there and back will be more wearisome than plodding on alone).
So messaged DS1 and DS2 with 'no presents, no party', added suitable suggestions for DS2 (mum had said he could buy flowers but no vase) and had a chat about his latest test results (phone consultation in October). He and his gf were going to come this weekend as they are away on BH weekend, so , after consultation, have agreed. I've said that if I still haven't managed them, there are a couple of things that need moving/ lifting - not expecting hours of work but it'll take him about 5 minutes and I'll feel a lot better about things.
Florenceem, I love the spiders.
Polly dear, Ming the Merciless is from Flash Gordon (I checked thinking I'd got it wrong - got to love Brian Blessed with wings). Fu Manchu is a super villain, the 'heroes' are Sir Denis Nayland Smith and Dr Petrie (1st 3 books). Fu Manchu has been played by Boris Karloff, John Carradine ('Grasshopper's dad) and Christopher Lee (5 films). Which has now left me wondering 'What was the name of the Peter Ustinov character' who was always talking about No 1 son, No 2 son etc?" (ah that must be Charlie Chan). This is the way my brain works - I'll be thinking of memorable Peter Ustinov film appearances all afternoon (and probably in the middle of the night).
Had lunch in the middle of all this and have been messaging DS1 - he and his wife and the grandpuppy are thinking about visiting on a weekday. They've booked time off work and now can't go to Greece again. She's half Greek and her parents live there now so she goes once or twice a year and her mother/ parents come here as well. her brother was supposed to get married last year and they couldn't go. It's been postponed until this year and they still can't go. Ah well, must go and try to do something, many a mickle makes a muckle. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7
