That's a beautiful blanket MrsCD.Is it cotton? I was trawling through threads on a recent sleepless night mainly to see if there was any sign of Cornishchick andif she was OK after Covid. She seems to be doing fine. I noticed the picture you'd posted of a cover you made for your new bible. It's lovely. I like the fabric you used to back it we seem to have similar tastes when it comes to colours and patterms.Well we seem to be Mingless. She probably wore herself out yesterday issuing threats while hoping to mend her ways. I do hope she didn't topple off the fence and smash her vase. If anyone has any energy maybe they should look over the fence and check. burtha would be good at that if she was around. So following the Mings threats I was searching the web for chainmail armour knitting patterns as you do. There are many however they all seem to be wool. What good would that be against the dreaded Ming?I've never tried knitting with metal if such a thing is a possible and I'm not about to try.I discovered you can buy chainmail and suits of armour found out about Larpers who renact battles. Every day is a school day.I got bored so decided we need to support the vase in her quest for normality.Something I remembered was Mar read all the Fu Manchu books, there was a character Ming the Merciless totally evil and I think when she chose her new Avatar rather than a harmless vase she chose her new user name forgetting how evil Ming was.She knits and gardens but maybe we should introduce her to other crafts and other interests. I read some Upcycling, Craft and DIY blogs. One has Ikea hacks so I often look on there. I had a look on Pillar Box Blue and found Fun and Unique Oriental Vase Flower Pots! No idea if painting empty tin cans blue and glueing a printout from the site of her actual Ming vase to it would appeal but we do need to try.The nights are beginning to draw in and winter will soon be here so I would prefer not to be at the mercy of the dreaded Ming.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Thanks, polly, the yarn is chunky acrylic as I thought it would just throw in the wash, and it was all I could get easily when I started it on holiday! The fabric on my bible cover was just a leftover piece. I can't remember what I originally made with it. It might have been dolly blankets or something.
I remember a children's tv programme around the 2000's ish, called Big Kids, where the parents had been hypnotized, but whenever they heard a word with 'ming' in it, they acted like silly children. I think this is a link...

It's also on youtube.
Sorry, Ming, but that's what I think of when I see your name!!!2025 Fashion on the ration

I didn't see that tv programme MrsCD. The thought of Hypnosis and Ming is one I don't want to think about. It might make the empty tin can project a non starter if she decides to study the subject.I'm glad we bring you a smile NRA. Personally I think monna has the right idea, I'm beginning to think we're all bonkers now.The Mar then Ming thing has been running for years. First on the SHTF preppers thread then also on the last couple of Tougher threads, the Fence is the latest version of those. Mar was ok until she decided to knit an armada so we could sail away if the Zombie Hordes invaded. It all started to get very silly. I let her look after the emergency chocolate stash and she ate it all. Then began hunting for alternaive food supplies. Thats where heffalumps , walkers passing her house never to be seen again, little fluffy chicks she enticed with breadcrumbs and her grand idea to bake gingerbread to disguise her house as a gingerbread house to entice little children. There is at least one Police dog handler and his dog still missing. There are some waiters monna admits she has one but slips up every now and then so may be harbouring them all. There's two different police officers who ran for their lives wherabouts unknown. The only person to escape her devious plan was Peter Gunn who she adored. She adored him so much she kept him locked in her shed for a number of years when she was living up the hill where no one could see what she was uo to. He finally managed to escape one day and set off down the hill running for his life. One day someone will dig up her patio and be shocked. We only know what she's admittied to and that varies from confessing to denying. As monna said Bonkers.Hope you've managed to get your feet up. Take care.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Your blood pressure is normal, Florence?
And you still lurk around the Fence?
Are you sure?
ETA. You can stop wondering Polly?
I have my one and only hot waiter. That is all. He is safely housed in my wardrobe and there is no room to conceal any more. Anyway, I can't cope with more than one. I am an octogenarian you know. As if I'm likely to let anyone forget it.I believe that friends are quiet angels

HYPNOSIS!!! I could do that!! I don't know that prog MrsCD but I did love the Demon Headmaster! Hmmmm7

Haha @MingVase! My daughters were scared of the Demon Headmaster. The programme, Big Kids was very funny. The parents turned into children whenever a word such as swimming or alarming was spoken, so the children had to be the 'parents'. It turned the usual roles on their heads.2025 Fashion on the ration

I'm sure you'd love your own handcrafted tin can vase with an image of yourself on the front. It's not much better but aim to be more Mar than Ming. Pity we can't get mardatha back. She had her moments but nothing on the scale of this.pollyx
