Totally agree with you Florenceem. I too think we are becoming more secular in our nation and it worries me that the next generations won't have the values that I and many others believe in, which have been the bedrock of our laws for hundreds of years.
I sympathise with football followers, especially as it was played in an unsportsmanlike way by some who should have been sent off in my opinion. Did you see the letter sent to the team by Harry Maguire from County Durham? Old beyond his 7 years! I'll see if I can find a link.

MrsCD - thanks for the link - I hadn't seen it.
We went out to our nearest shopping centre yesterday - exhausted us. We did a lot of walking - counter said 5,551 but felt more.
Will have a day in today to recuperate plus Mr F is really suffering with hay fever.
Had a rest from scarves yesterday - made some crochet snakes.

I love the snakes Florenceem.
I phoned about my car repair again, I'm getting the runaround, first they were waiting for parts, then they had the parts, today they are still waiting for parts, oh and it's being re-sprayed. Ballrocks, it doesn't need a re-spray. The garage are in for a shock, I shall get DS2 to go and check it out. He was a mechanic before he became a firefighter.I

Sounds like they're def at it Hester!

Looks as though they're taking the proverbial Hester. I have a number of old former firemen friends who retired earlier than the norm due to the nature of the job. They developed other skills some becoming buy to let landlords with the pension or learning other skills.A lot of garages etc seem to think women have no knowledge of cars. Some are still back in the dark ages.I'd love to be a fly on the wall when your former mechanic now firefighter son pops in to double check thier diagnosis.I hope all went well monna and Beloved was laid to rest by the one who loved her above all. He is a very good soul caring for her to the last . You're strong and kind too but I hope you'll cut yourself some slack and build some rest in while helping with the rest of the clearing.Hope burtha's family and those others with Covid scares are ok.I haven't posted much but it's good to see Amy Pond aka Nan popping in. So glad the daily hospital visits are near the end. You're welcome to loll about either at the table or on the fence should you prefer. If you still insist on waiting for the return of your Dr I'll try to remember where we put your suitcase.Do not be fooled by the precious vase of lovely flowers on the table. I've no idea if Mar has repurposed the crocodiles not having posted for a few days.I need to check who came up with the crocodiles. Was it greenbee? Though I've hardly posted I've had Jimmy Nail singing Crocodile Shoes in my head - that'll be reading burtha's post. Then Elton Crocodile Rock. One for Mar I used to sing to the children Never smile at a Crocodile. You have been warned Mar!pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Could somebody give me a polish please, I feel a tad dull.Another day and more denials. If you're feeling a tad dull why not return to the reason you are living inside a vase. Spying duties. If things are a bit boring in No 10 you could always help yourself to some of Carrie's amazing...cough... wallpaper that would brighten up your bit of fence. We'll dig out our sunglasses in anticipation.I'm still trying to come up with a version of how do we solve a problem like Mardatha. It would have been easy if you had remained Mardatha or even Madarthur as one poster used to refer to you.I did look up the Minger but it seems that's Glaswegian slang for a smelly person. With your demands for a polish or cleaning I doubt you fit that. I'm remembering when you used to make lovely soaps. Any chance you could take up a hobby that doesn't involve killing and total denial?Lord knows what a newbie would think looking here for the first time. I remember when we discussed cooking, cleaning and domestic matters as we wandered back and forth with our aprons, rolling pins and nappy pin brooches as ID.Back to normality or what passes for normal here. Another lovely sunny day and already I'm muttering the summer of 76 under my breath. I tend to do that if we have a few hot days in a row. I'd moved here in Dec 75 with a little blond son and red haired dd1. My memories are sun hats, sun bonnets , sun cream and calamine lotion when summer arrived with many sleepless nights and much refilling of the paddling pool.I can never decide what to eat in this weather possibly quiche and salad. I have a glut of tiny tomatoes , lettuce etc so probably the best idea.I might dig out Amy's suitcase and one of my own and sit and wait in case my Dr ( DT ) turns up. Matt Smith is Amy's Dr so no problem there.David Tennant and Michael Sheen are soon to be in Good Omens 2 so something to look forward to.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

My suitcase is under mum's bed, with some of her clothes in. I persuaded her to put some of her 'less used' (only worn when we go away on holiday) clothes away, moved her everyday clothes into the wall of hanging space cupboards in her room, which gave me access to wardrobe space (mostly used for storing tins and cooking supplies as there isn't much room in the kitchen).
We had 'words' yesterday. Well mum had lots of words and I just listened. Not going to talk about it, still digesting/ trying to make sense of it (especially the bit in the middle which was about wrongs done by my father and her 'so called friends', 30, 40 or 50 years ago). Another dollop of uncertainty in my life, just what I need. Ah well, this too shall pass (definitely like a kidney stone). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7
