Hester when the nervous system has had a shock most people behave the way Steve does as you'll already know.Following the brain injury my 1st husband could remember all the past years of his life but nothing after that. In a way it protected him from any memory of being attacked on his way from work . He remembered leaving work but not what happened after that. He used to get very frustrated as he'd lost short term memory often forgetting who we were but mostly kept his caring ways. Sometimes you do have to laugh to yourself at some silly thing like the milk. You'd lose your mind if you didn't.I know you're a strong lady Hester but look after yourself as much as you do Steve and the family. BTW I rembembered it was a purple corset not a pink one.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

LameWolf said:Ooh, I almost forgot, belated Hoppy Birdday, Polly. Sorry I missed it, been busy organising a Meet'n'Greet visit with a new canine guest - the idea is they bring their humans to get to know us before their actual holiday so that I can find out their daily routine, likes/dislikes and so forth, and when they actually come for their holiday, they aren't worried about being left with us because they've already met us.Thanks for the Happy Birdday Wolfie. It's lovely to see your furry friends back in business. Your mood always lifts when your guests arrive.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

MingVase said:Hmm. I think maybe we need a shed.NO YOU DON'T!Wait until you have your legs in the water when the flowers are in the vase with you on the table where we can all see you. That'll stop your gallop, as my mother used to say. No idea what it meant but she said it a lot!polly who is trying to catch upx

A man shed isn't for stowing a man corpse in, you know. Even if the RV is being a little ray of sunshineIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!9

I remember when she would make her soaps and potions and do some gentle knitting. It's like dealing with Attilla the Hun nowadays. Be wary of sweet wee women who used to live up a hill. I noticed this thread has been running a long time so looked back at the first few pages. The Heffalumps are there but so are the monkeys- I'd forgottern the monkeys and the frogs. I'm surprised any of us have a shred of sanity left.pollyx

I see things are reverting to normal on the fence. Insults and downright porky pies being bandied about and the precious flower receptacle loudly protesting her innocence in matters where she has already been judged and found guilty.
Sorry to be AWOL but my life has turned crazy and I'm frantically trying to keep all the plates spinning.
THOUGHT FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE.
The planet does not need more successful people.
But it does desperately need more peacemakers,
healers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind.
It needs people with moral courage
willing to join in the fight to make the world habitable and humane.
And these qualities have little to do with success as we have defined it. (David Orr)I believe that friends are quiet angels

Have trouble remembering how to fly.10 -

I hope you won't change your name - we need our pollyanna, especially in times like these!
Lovely scarf Florenceem
I really like the idea of a space in between two fences - it could be just the right size for a table - for afternoon tea or for drinkies! Definitely no crocodiles though Ming, don't worry.
Forgot to say that two of the staff in our local Co-op are "cycling to Paris" (on exercise bikes, in the shop) to raise money for Mind and a couple of other charities. One of then asked me if I thought anyone would mind if they only went as far as Peckham. I suggested Herne Bay. They both seemed to like that ideaWhere was I? Thanks for the B day wishes. i wont change the name, it wasn't for the " Glad Game" I probably would have crawled away howling long ago. MSE never informed me I'd end up wrangling a Ming and her "Cooking" for years.Everyone seems keen on the table and seats so it makes sense . No more splinters , damp or possible tumbles. Hester can sit down rather than perch on a stool.. Co-op have always been good in the community that's why I've chosen to use our litte one as much as possible. We always did some shopping there but I've upped it since Covid to support a little local shop. They're always fund raising and your post made me laugh. Herne Bay does seem a better destination.I hope you're feeling more comfortable now and in less pain.Florence I'll remember not to mention things on TV to you now I know you don't watch it. I don't watch much mainly repeats over the last year and a half.I think I'm younger than you but I do remember the piles of bricks. There were still a lot of bomb sites in the early 50s left after the blitz. We used to build "Houses" and also climb on them .Many a time I'd go home with a big dusty scrape down my leg to face my mum after visiting the forbidden bombsites again . it was worse if my younger sisters were with me and mum had the TCP cleaning away the muck and blood.LW I envy turning your age upside down but you wont be able to do that many times. I'm just glad we're all still here.Hester My dd1 will be 50 in a couple of months and her brother 51. It did make me think how did that happen.I was shocked when I turned 30. No idea why but it seemed old. 50 was the one I really didn't like but I got over that and don't mind now.Mrs CD I have had generations of Blackbirds shouting and tapping on the windows. THey walk around my feet if I'm hanging out washing and are next to me if I'm weeding or digging looking for worms. One of them made friends with best beloved cat and they'd sit together in the sun. I can't work out which are last years babies or last years adults anymore but they brighten the day as do the wrens , robins and others.I think it's you who mentioned school cake, apologies if it was someone else. I've quite a few old school recipe books and one more modern with very good modern recipies. I had school meals for a couple of years but they were pretty dire. The only thing I enjoyed were the various sponge puddings with custard and other pupils would swap their puddings for my meal until we were found out.Hopefully I haven't missed any posts out and have caught up.Going to make a hot chocolate. It's cooled down now. Time for bed I'm all Minged Out.Sleep tight allpollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
