We used to have 3 lovely wool shops in town - all gone. The haberdashery shop stocks some yarn. I am used to buying my yarn online now.
Weigh day - Mr F had lost 3 lbs and I lost 5lbs this week - I could feel that my bra was looser - don't want to take off the pounds there - it is my stomach that needs to reduce.
This morning we went for an interview/meeting with the SA corps leaders - they had noticed that we have attended for 5 weeks in a row. Corps leader had spoken to Vicar of our previous Church about why we had moved our worship. It felt like being summoned to the head master's office. My temperature was fine today when it was taken at the door - not like on Sunday when I just scraped in.
DGD asked if we could print something for her so she popped round to collect it.
The crochet baby blanket seems to be taking ages - I had no ball bands on the yarn - not sure if it is dk or a 4 ply. I am itching to start something new.
Not warm here - the wind has gone back to the chilly direction.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Sorry I was MIA yesterday! We went to the shops(!!!) and forgot to go for petrol, one of the main reasons for going. 🤦♀️ So we went back again today.
@Florenceem, I won't tell anyone how much you spent! I know that a lot of it will go to the SA, so you are allowed. 😁😊
Your tale about being summoned to the office reminded me of when I was in my teens, and the vicar came to our house and suggested I might want to go to the evangelicals along the road because they had more young people! I'm still there, nearly 50 years later, with DH who I met there. 😊2025 Fashion on the ration

MrsCD - love your vicar story.
We are still on fish feeding duty so Mr F has just been and done it.
Lovely day here - gorgeous full moon last night.
I am doing the border on the baby blanket now so nearly finished. I should work on my two crochet wips next but - we shall see.

I've been busy but now putting us back on Page 1 we can't let monna down.I've just been looking at the lovely scarf you made Florence. I remember you mentioning the SA fair would be later than planned. Those scarves would sell very well. I really like the variegated yarns. Elaine Collier who used to be Memory Girl on MSE. Put a knitting pattern on her blog for a Stormy Weather Shawl. It was supposed to to be the Scottish Skies and she used oddments of different colouerd yarns to reflect the seasonal changes to the skies.I was lucky to find Sirdar Faroe Chunky which had all the blues , greys and others of stormy skies. The yarn has been discontinued in both Chunky and Super Chunky but I found it on line from a seller. Then found more when dd wanted a shawl. It's a lovely soft yarn a bit llike Fair Isle with all the different colours. It's still avilable in DK and 4 ply and there are many lovely knitting patterns for adults and children - the baby patterns are lovely and would sell well for fundraising as would children and adults items. The chunky and Super Chunky sometimes turn up on the Bay. The chunky I bought isn't heavy or thick it's very lightweight and snuggly. There are still a number of patterns availabe if you search. Everything down to cushion covers. I know monna has knitted those in the past for Christmas presents.I hope you're all plodding along and our dear monna isn't pushing herself too hard and is getting some sleep. It;s wet and dreary here today and not feeling very June like. I'm making a lamb casserole with rosemary from the garden and have been chopping flat leaved parsley which is the gift that keeps on giving in the garden , It's years since I planted it but every year it comes back again. That gets chopped finely with my little electric chopper and will go in the dumpings I'll add to the casserole later.Take care allpollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I was good and did work on a wip - so now I only have 1 ufo - a shawl - left.
The baby blanket is being blocked today so that is another finished item.
Wet start to the day here.
My yarn order came today - poor Mr F was a tad surprised by the parcel pile. I plan to have a go at crochet hats next - beanie style.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Not a lot of crafting here today, trying to sort the car insurance. Ours wanted silly money for the next year so in true MSE style I did a comparison and chose a company. The lovely lady on the phone suggested I wait until nearer the date and ring back to pay, and they'll keep my quote so I'll pay what we arranged.
Had a walk in the rain up to DD's this morning to see the work she's getting done. We tried out our "waterproof" coats and trousers. Trade description comes to mind. Laura on the Fashion on the ration thread told us about some stuff to reproof them, so I will be buying some pronto!2025 Fashion on the ration

We don't have a car - Mr F has never had one - I can drive but not done so for many years.
I have started to crochet a beanie - watching a YT tutorial and doing a very basic pattern as my first attempt.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Here's another free hat pattern, Florenceem. It looks harder than it is, and people will think it has been knitted rather than crocheted.2025 Fashion on the ration

I miss driving Florence but arthritis, fibro and sciatica began to make it difficult. Pain and poor concentration aren't good in busy traffic. I've paricuarly missed it during the pandemic but have some double jabbed because they also work for our local hospital and other parts of the trust taxi drivers who although they have the screen the proper hackney's have are always double masked. I've travelled safely, they carry my shopping in and out of the cabs and to my front door and I appreciate every one of them.Mar went on the mse bush telegraph last night and emailed someone on another part of the OS forum who lives on the IOW. She kindly contacted Monna and Monna is ok. Probably exhausted but she is fine which is good to know.We actually have some sun today after the wet and miserable weather. I hope you're all ok and if you have the sun have a chance to get in the garden if you have one or go somewhere nice if possible.Someone reminded me yesterday we're halfway through the year. I must admit it doesn't seem long since we were debating what to do over the festive season. I decided to stay put as the figures still weren't good in parts of the NW. It seemed very odd but it was fine.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
