Think of her freezer! On the subject of Suffolk does anyone remember chickens11 new user name? She posted on the Tougher threads a lot including the "Fence". Mar was allowed out of the straightjacket long enough for us to have a chat about Kelp during the exhaustion and sleep problems of the last couple of weeks,Sheila in Suffolk ( chickens11) had a lot of faith in Kelp, kept chickens was an avid gardener and I used to love her posts. So sometime in the last year or so she posted having had to change her user name, Her husband was still fine in the Nursing home and she was fine. I'd been awake for nearly two days so to pass the time Googled chickens11 mse and up came Dec 2017. She was posting quite reguarly. Mar was claiming it wasn't her fault the elephant climbed into her freezer again. I'd love to read her more recent posts but obviously impossible without the new vname.Monna It's highly unlikely you will be alone in old age. You have your family , church friends and a good community. You have been kind and giving through life so trust and stay positive. You wouldn't like the Ming travelling to care for you, she's probably got at least one Heffalump left to travel on. In an emergency Gangsta Granny might be preferable.pollyx

You probably could have made a fortune as a defence lawyer much better paid than the NHS. You could have zoomed from court to court on your broomstick spreading fear as you flew. Think you'd need a wig though , wearing a priceless vase isn't the best idea when surrounded by felons.Do you never worry one of the handles will catch a tree branch as you zoom through the air?polly who is not a ParrotxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I've just crawled back and wonder how I'm ever going to get anything finished before the assessment. At least, if I can get everything off furniture and floors and into bin bags, it will look tidier than spread all over the place. Then will come the fun of trying to find someone to dispose of it all. The charity shops would be glad of the expensive and hardly worn clothes in normal times, but now.........?
I'm going to try to do a full day tomorrow and see how we go from there.Monna I don't know if your friends wife is in council funded care or private. It's not a good idea for you to do too much when it's highly likely.your friend will be unable to maintain any degree of tidiness especially if his wife does return home. I've no idea how SS are on the Island but whether at home or in care they need to assess what is best for the patient. both options involve funding so whether a care package in a rest home or careworkers including a cleaner and perhaps someone for personal care at home they will be able to make decisions based on need. It's lovely of you to take on the clearing and tidying task and is useful for SS to be able to sit down with somewhere to rest their paperwork but they want to see how things normally are to assess both needs and home or care elsewhere.pollyx

One day you lot will make me go all unnecessary and get a swelled head. As for threatening me with Mar and the heffalump, deceased or otherwise, that is really below the belt.
Thanks for the idea of getting church folk involved in helping to sort my old friend out, it is OK in theory. In fact they have all heard him preach on many occasions. He was a Reader in the C of E and then a Lay Preacher in the Methodists, and a more brilliant preacher I have never heard. Unfotunately, most of the church folk are too old and incapable, even if our friend would let them over the threshold, which he wouldn't.
He is horribly embarrassed at the state of the place and won't let anyone in there. He has another friend who would help, but he is having treatment for cancer just now. Fortunately the man in the flat above is both able-bodied and willing to help, but he is working, so not about very much. He did book a slot at the tip this week though and took a load of stuff.
We will get there. To a tidy flat, I mean, not the tip.
I suggest that we all ask if anyone on the various threads we visit has any ideas of chickens new username. Who knows, she might appear herself. We did have fun on the old thread though, didn't we? The wild parties and the Fencers Army marching up North to attack mar's Heifer, dressed in our knitted chain mail, with saucepans on our heads and a variety of weird and wonderful weapons. I think that was where the Heffalump first made an appearance, though no one could have foreseen that Mar, the ungrateful besom, would use it as a sandwich filling. All that talk about the poor creature following her home and jumping willingly into her freezer didn't fool us for a second.
Anyway, Polly who is not a parrot, I hope things are going a bit better for you these days. You've had a torrid time lately and we miss you when you have to go to ground and regroup.

Being normal for a minute - what are we all doing these fine days? Gardening? What do you all do to pass the long light summer days? I hate to admit this but I'm so bored. I like cosy dark winter days when you can sit at the fire and knit and drink tea.. it's light at 3am here and not dark until after 11pm. This house is teeny and so is the garden - and my hip's so bad just now I can't go walks. What do you all do?9
