A typical May day then MrsCD.
I don't think I have ever known such a cold start to May. My youngest's birthday is on the 3rd and I don't ever remember spending it huddled around a fire.
Yesterday was exhausting. I made tea and coffee, refilled jars and talked the hindleg off a donkey, not that a donkey has joined this churchyard farm yet, but give it time. Since I was there last 2 goats and 2 pigs have joined the family. I narrowly missed the goatwalking duty I'm glad to say.
Today I am doing a bit more de-cluttering. A long case clock has been sitting in my garden (well wrapped up) for the last year. It's too big for the house and no one wants it. I was about to pay someone to take it to the tip, but someone spotted it and offered me £20 for it. I bit his hand off. He is supposed to be collecting it today so then I will be able to clear up that part of the garden. Steptoe's junkyard doesn't even come close.
I will also find time to vote with the despairing hope that it may make a difference.

Morning all,
Brilliant sunshine and clear blue skies here, but no noticeable increase in the temperature.
I shimmied down to the polling station yesterday to do my bit. Very proud of aged friends who managed to get there to register their vote, some with great difficulty. As one of them said, " Can't let Emily Pankhurst down."
I have a junkyard to clear today, so will be looking out some disgracefully old clothes to work in. Who am I kidding? Disgraceful old, comfortable clothes are 90% of my wardrobe.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
My entire life can be summed up in one sentence: Well, that didn't go as planned.

My council ward went green - not the result I wanted. Green also got the town council seat.
At least my football team are through to the Europa final.
Made a one colour pair for a change.

Our new councillors are not the ones I wanted either. I texted DD to say I didn't know who one of them was, and she replied, 'He's a child.' Now I feel old..!2025 Fashion on the ration

I don't know many of our councillors either MrsCD, but there are an awful lot of Independents. This is completely in tune with the prevailing attitude of most of the Islanders. A bolshie lot on the whole. They are completely apart from the mainland and that is how they like it. For decades now the PTB have been mooting a tunnel connecting us to the mainland. The islanders have dug their toes in. All I can say is, "Watch out for gunboats in the Solent."
Last night we had wonderful, blessed rain! Lots of it, but we need lots more to rescue the crops. This morning it is dark and wet. No problem for me, I am in no hurry to start the day.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The average lawn is an interesting beast. People plant it, then douse it with artificial fertilisers and dangerous pesticides to make it grow - all so that they can hack and mow what they have just encouraged to grow.
And woe to the small yellow flower that rears its head. (Michael Braungart)I believe that friends are quiet angels
