Aw ming. I just can't picture you looking all sweet and girlie. You don't somehow go with pink.
Polly, I love the picture of you in peach satin, ringlets and all, standing next to a line of washing.
The only experience I had of dressing up was when I was a bridesmaid at the age of 5. It was still wartime so my mum had to use every bit of her not inconsiderable amount of ingenuity to get me kitted out. I was the only bridesmaid so it all depended on her. She made me a beautiful blue dress, with the hem scalloped so that the lace on my petticoat just showed. The headress was of stiffened lace and tiny flowers that she had made out of scraps of material and I had a posy of sweet peas from the garden. I don't remember anything about the ceremony, but it has been recorded that at one point I was tired of not being able to see what was going on, so I laid myself down on the floor behind the very tall groom and peered through his legs.
What I do remember was that it was the first (and last for many years) time I had a ride in a car. All of 200 yards between home and the church. I also do remember the magnificent iced wedding cake and the bitter disappointment when it turned out to be an ornate cardboard cover hiding a very ordinary Victoria sponge. The reception was in the bride's parents front room.
So much for memories.I still have a photo that mum had specially coloured.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY (I've borrowed this from someone. I hope she doesn't mind)
I find it useful to organise chores into categories.
Things I won't do today.
Things I won't do later.
Things I'll never do.

I've only been a bridesmaid once, for my Dad's cousin. It was in the 60's and I would have been around eight or nine. My Mam got my hair permed and I looked like Annie in the film! I had really tight curls and with my round face I hated how I looked. My friends at school made fun of me and I couldn't wait for it to grow out I can't remember the dress I wore. I must have been traumatized by the hair!!!!2025 Fashion on the ration

Morning Fencers.
Quick visit as I'm off to help my Vicar friend who seems to have turned one of her church halls into a sort of farm shop, also offering tea, coffee and a place to gossip. She really should have been a farmer, but settled for Vicaring. She has a sort of mini farm in her graveyard. A flock of sheep keeps the grass down and there are many lambs, so Brian the ram has been busy.
I'll report back later.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If you order me to do something that I was already planning on doing, the chances of me actually doing that thing automatically drops to zero.I believe that friends are quiet angels

MrsCD I had one of those perms to be a bridesmaid too
I was about six or seven. I had somehow got the impression that when someone got married they went away and you never ever saw them again, so all I remember about the wedding is standing there in my lovely dress trying not to cry, thinking it was the last time I'd ever see my big brother. I suppose I must have got that impression because of hearing the women in the family discussing the bride's "Going Away" outfit - i hadn't realised that until now!

My grandma's youngest brother was 16 years younger than her. On the morning of her wedding, he came downstairs, saw her bouquet - a large sheaf of lilies, and burst into tears "You said you were marrying our *, not burying her."My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage9

Fun day here. Hail stones, snow, thunder and lightning, traffic sliding all over and a bus slid back down a bank into the side of the road, a few miles away and caused a traffic jam that affected roads for miles around! It took DD over two hours to drive home what usually takes her about forty minutes. She said drivers were being stupid, thinking that they could get up the hill by flooring the accelerator. Anyhow, I don't think anyone was hurt, there were no injuries on the news, just a lot of wounded pride, methinks.2025 Fashion on the ration
