Last Autumn, I planted a bulb lasagne, and now I have a beautiful pot full of purple violas, pale blue chionodoxas, tiny yellow daffodils, and some miniature tulips ready to pop!
It's the little things that bring the most joy right now, I'm finding.2025 Fashion on the ration

I saw some lovely wall flowers when out for a walk today. You don't see many of them now like you used to. At one time most people grew them in their gardens. I suppose they are out of fashion.
I love Peonies - think they are beautiful flowers. I also love Sweet Williams.

I'm probably in the minority, but I love to see a bank of dandelions along the side of the road. Here's my pot of spring flowers looking slightly worse for wear after the hail stones today!

Oh that's lovely Mrs CD. I'm taking my bulbs out of my pot when they have died down a bit more. I think I will plant up a mixture in the autumn.

The bulbs were from Wilko, and the violas were a cheap tray from our local garden centre so it didn't cost a lot. I already had the pot and compost.2025 Fashion on the ration

That is a beautiful display of Spring flowers MrsCD.
Florence, I love wallflower but have never had much luck with growing them. I have the same problem with Lily of the Valley, another of my all time favourites. It makes me mad, my Dad had them growing like weeds. They would pop up in gravel paths, between the cracks in paving stones, just everywhere. I don't believe in fashions for flowers. If you love them, you love them, and that's good enough.
I have a completely empty garden, apart from the weeds, and it has been neglected for years so the soil is poor. However, neighbours have rallied round and I often go outside to find a couple of seedlings needing a good home.
Today it is paperwork again. I made a start yesterday and hope to more or less finish today.
