Florence, you are very dedicated. And orderly. I have a dozen or so twiddlemuffs in a bag somewhere. I have sewn them up but they are still awaiting the twiddly bits. I finished the knitting of them 3 or 4 years ago, but then the procrastination gene swung into action and that was that.
In my defence I do knit a lot of Christmas stockings and Easter Chicks for various good causes. I know what I'm like, so always do the bits I dislike first, before I allow myself to do the knitting bit. Sadly you can't really do the sewing up first and that is my nemesis.
I have been a good little housewife for the last couple of days and done quite a bit of house drudgery. There is a lot more to do before I can polish my halo, but baby steps.
Today the great plan is to finish cleaning the bathroom. I'm pretty good bathroom and kitchenwise, I do like both to be sparkling, but although I can reach the upper echelons by standing on a step stool, it's a different matter doing the bits under knee height. If I look down there I get dizzy and if I get down there, there is a danger that I will never get up again.
I hope all my fence friends are well and enjoying the sunshine.

I hate sewing the twiddles on twiddlemuffs too.11

monnagran - I do have wips - just want to build up a good stock of makes ready for the planned craft fair at The Salvation Army hall.
annieb64 - I haven't made twiddlemuffs but you have reminded me that I was given some - to pass on to the residential home next door. I looked at them and thought the twiddles were not attached securely so put them in my craft storage room - planning to get them done. Will have to get them out and do the fixing jobs.
I like today's wrist warmers - rust colour yarn used for these.

Morning all.
Just popped in to give you a thought before I go off to keep a friend company on the great journey to the metropolis. It's only a 20 minute drive to the main town, but in islanders minds that means A JOURNEY.
When I first moved to the island I was most amused that any journey over 10 minutes seemed to call for a torch, a blanket, a map and I'm not sure that Kendal Mint Cake didn't get a mention. Things have changed somewhat over the years, but in the older generation eyebrows are still raised if you say you are going to a meeting on the 'other side'. Only a few years ago 2 men in Ryde were overheard in the pub discussing one of their daughter's wedding. "She marrying a local lad?" says one. "Nah. He comes from Seaview." says t'other. Seaview is actually on the outskirts of Ryde.
Anyway........

Not a good start to the day - laying in bed listening to noises in the loft!
Reckon it is squirrels - got in somehow.
There is a lot of stuff up in the loft for a pest control chap to work around.
Then DGD wanted me to read over her uni work - she had 540 words when the limit was 500. I developed brain ache - couldn't even understand some of the essay. After reading and rereading plus suggestions - arrived at 500. I needed a cup of tea after that.
Another pair of wrist warmers finished.

Hello there.
Another lovely day. Just as well as Graham is coming round to start giving my garden fences another coat of Forest Green. I have quite a lot of fences and they had been shamefully neglected for decades. Graham did them last year, but he has decreed that they need another coat, which they do, but I think he has nefarious reasons for wanting to do them. Graham is a bachelor who lives on his own and is definitely a 'character'. He will do anything for anyone but you offer to pay him at your peril. If you feed him, that's another matter entirely and as I have spent my life either feeding people or teaching them, we get on well.
He knows full well that I feed him whether he is working or not, but his sense of honour decrees that it must be a two-way thing.
Anyway, I was up at the crack of dawn baking a tea loaf, a batch of choc chip cookies and some rolls. I'm exhausted now and glad of a sit down.
Florence, I think that most people's lofts are similarly piled up. I bet the interlopers are having a whale of a time up there. I hope for your sake that it is squirrels and not anything more menacing. It could be that they have crawled in there to have babies. My DB had that once. He knew squirrels were getting into his roof and had someone come and fix wire netting under the eaves to stop it. A bit later he heard an awful noise outside and found what was obviously a mother squirrel sitting on the roof, frantically scrabbling at the netting and crying. Being my DB he had to climb up and remove enough of the netting to allow them to get in and out until the babies were grown and gone.
Enough. I must get to my feet and do something USEFUL.

Forenceem - after having seen your crochet handiwork I thought this might interest you
https://www.joebrowns.co.uk/crochet-longline-knit-wk465#colour=613
It looks fairly straightforward.
Kept wondering why I couldn't post then realised I was not logged in on my tablet so if been lurki g for weeks doh!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle9 -
monnagran - decided to have new fascia and soffits fitted - don't know if that is where the visitors have got in but looking up at the roof - can't see any holes.
silvasava - thanks - they look good.
Sunny here but still a keen wind. Been out for our exercise.
I have been asked for 3 adult crochet ponchos - think I will be saying no as they are needed very soon.
Another pair for my stock.

Silva, I think that Joe Brown's coat looks quite doable. Just granny squares basically. Would I try to do it? Well, I can do granny squares but am willing to bet big money that my coat would look nothing like Joe Brown's.
Life is a bit busy today. Graham has to be fed, Gangsta Granny next door is getting very worried because she is sure that her neighbours the other side have something illegal going on in their garage, GG's daughter is getting very worried about GG getting so worked up and thinks she is losing it, I'm waiting to hear if the flowers I ordered for a friend's birthday have arrived because I am using a different firm to usual.....and so on. I'm trying to let it all flow over me, which is my usual way of dealing with things.
Lovely day here, but with a brisk cold wind. I saw most people going past with warm coats on and one chap even had a scarf and gloves. In contrast, a girl tottered down the road clad in a strappy, flimsy top, with bare arms and shoulders. Presumably goosebumps are the latest must-have fashion accessory.

I'm on tenterhooks to find out about the illegal goings-on in the garage... what kind of thing does she think they are up to? Can you drop round innocently with a 'I made too much cake' delivery and poke your nose in9
