I brought my children up to not drop litter and then the grandchildren learnt as well. Friends of my 19 year old DGS know not to drop litter when out with him or they hear all about taking litter home if there is no bin around. I know what you mean about bits in pockets - with 6 children - I had a lot of pockets to check before I did the washing.
Had a lovely stroll around the nearby park - so lovely to see all the different shades of green in the trees and bushes.
Another day - yet another pair.

I forgot to teach my children to empty there pockets of litter when they got home. I only have 3 children but it was more than enough to annoy me when washing.

Morning Fencers,
Good Heavens Florence. Six children? I thought I had my hands full with 2, although there were plenty of other people's children under my roof to make up the numbers.
I didn't really mean to start a conversation about litter, but you never know when a chance remark will send me meandering among miscellaneous subjects.
I made the big mistake of putting the electric blanket back on when I brought my tea and toast back to bed this morning. Needless to say I now have to call upon every ounce of determination I can rustle up to force myself out again. There is something very luxurious about lying in a warm bed, Classicfm playing, tempting book close at hand, the sound of children's chatter as they make their way up to school and me breathing prayers of thankfulness that I am not in a classroom waiting for them all to arrive.
However, I have a disgracefully messy house to do something about, so here goes.

That's an impressive roll call Florence.
My two are both adopted and they match your 2 eldest for age, :1969 and 1972.
They are shining examples of nature winning over nurture. My ex and I were both teachers and the boys grew up surrounded by academia and thousands upon thousands of books. Neither of the boys would sit and read a book unless they were nailed to the chair. My ex and I were the most unsportsmanlike people in the world. No1 son was all set for an athletic or sporting career until he had an accident and ended up with a sheet of metal spliced into his shin.
What I will say, is that they have both grown into good, kind and very funny men. I ask no more.I believe that friends are quiet angels

No teachers in our family and yet I have produced 3 - well - I am bossy - is that an attribute of a should have been teacher?
No one had been to Uni and 5 of mine did - other didn't by choice.
2 of my girls were musical - played oboe/piano and clarinet/piano - I can't read a note of music or play an instrument.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Florence, I think 'A' level Bossy is one of the essential qualifications for a teacher. That and a sense of humour and the patience of Job.
In my family, my generation produced a multitude of teachers. The next generation.......none. My brother reckons that seeing what their parents went through put them off.
My brother was Head of a First and Middle School and said that he no longer had anything to do with education, he was just a General Manager. He took early retirement.
I started my own weird little school, originally started for children who didn't fit in to the normal system. I'd come across too many school phobics. It was crazy but it worked. Long story which Ive told before so won't bore you again..I believe that friends are quiet angels
