I did the Old Trafford tour for free. It was a consultation exercise for an organisation I belonged to and open to all members - had to take DS3 (he was 9 or 10 but too young to be left at home by himself or in the tender care of his two older brothers). The 'creche' was in two of the director's boxes. They asked if anyone wanted to do the tour and I tagged along for a bit. DS3 took one look at the buffet and decided he didn't do sandwiches so most of our lunch break was spent finding the nearest pizza hut.
I've been on the pitch at Murrayfield as well - different organisation, national conference - several delegates so I didn't have to speak, just wrote everything down and reported back. Had a celebration meal at Murrayfield (part of the conference) and for ages I had the label from the wine bottle (specially bottled for them). Quickest ever conversion of a large number of people to vegetarianism - they had put fois gras on as a starter. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8 -
monnagran - today's quote is so me. I can procrastinate to Olympic gold medal level.
I am not rushing out to shop - think my local shopping centre might be heaving. I do want to look for a new coat but not today.
The wrist warmers production line rolls on - I watched a really old TV show while crocheting last night - 1960s - Mrs Thursday - No Tea For The Tallyman.

I have posts to comment on. I think I've figured out the big spaces problem by not leaving a space belowv paragraphs in long posts.Florence I seem to remember you were looking for a winter coat. No idea if you want a posh one or one to keep the winter weather at bay.6 or7 years ago I went into Go Outdoors to stock up on boot socks and came home with a Craghopper Housley Jacket reduced as it was about to be discontinued. It isn't a jacket it's a knee length coat.We get strong gale force winds and lashing rain here but I've stayed warm and dry wearing it. It had a good hood with detatchable mock fur trim- I've kept that on as it's very cosy.I bought the newer Housley 2 version a few years ago when I spotted it in an Amazon sale. Very similar but also has removable mock fur cuffs. I haven't needed it yet but it there when I do.My original one is Black Pepper but with the second there are at least two colour options. It may not be what you're looking for .but I thought I'd mention it. Lots of places selling it and online with the bay and others.Apologies for the bold. No idea why I can't get rid of it. Time to consult the family techie methinks!pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.7 -
Monna by now you will have had your hair cut. DS said hair cut day tomorrow. I reminded him she does not work Mondays. He said I just hope she has survived. There are a lot of empty shops that were hairdressers and. I shall leave it a few days. We've been having snow hail and bright sun all at the same time for days. It's wall to wall sunshine to day and the forecast is the same all week but still very low temperatures.6

Morning peeps.
It is so lovely to feel lighter in the head. I hardly recognise me in the mirror today. However, the excitement continues. THE DENTIST.
Strangely, this doesn't give me the same thrill of anticipation. I have to have a small filling, a broken tooth repaired and visit to the hygienist. And, my friends, it is the hygienist that fills me with trepidation. I swear that dental hygienists train in the School of Medieval Torture.
Another day when I have to dress properly. And warmly. There was a thick frost when I looked out of the window this morning. But the sun is shining brightly, if coldly.
Florence, you will have to do better than gold medal standard in procrastination if you are to beat the Queen Procrastinator here.
I have degrees in it. My mother once remarked that if opportunity came knocking at my door, I'd tell it to come back next week.
Polly, I am interested in that coat you mentioned. It wasn't until I gave up my car that I realised how deficient in warm coats I was. Being used to leaping (well, not exactly leaping, more crawling and dragging) myself from car into warm, dry house, shop, or school, it was a salutary lesson when I found myself shivering at bus stops.
Well, I must go and survey my collection of CS rejects and see what I can stun a waiting world with today.

Ah yes Monna every car outside had a white roof when I got up and we do have wall to wall sunshine. My next door neighbour wakes me at about 4.45 every morning. I can't get back to sleep. I end up having to go backto bed later. He goes to bed at 8pm so of course he wakes up early. It's him banging about with his zimmer frame that wakes me.Thankfully I think I am over my jab now but a bit weak due to doing nothing for days.5

polly_anna26 - thanks for the info. I looked up that brand - look lovely. I saw some of the coats on offer but not my size.
After I saw the photos of crowds shopping - I thought - blow it - I will order a coat online. I usually like to try on a coat before I buy as I have rather long arms. I have ordered a £130 coat - £29.99 so hope It fits.
monnagran_love your Mother's comment.
Think I have watched so many Marple/Poirot now while doing crochet - that I am at last getting better at spotting the murderer.
Another day - another pair done.

Morning gossipers.
nursemaggie, 4.45 is no time to be woken up. Your neighbour should really have silencers on his Zimmer frame. if I were you, I'd make myself a hot drink, refresh my HW bottle and go back bed with a book and the radio. With a bit of luck you will drift back to sleep and wake up again.at a decent time.
Florence, I know what you mean about spotting the murderer. I love programmes like Morse, Midsommer Murders, Father Brown, Shakespeare and Hathaway etc. But usually find that when the murderer is unmasked, it is a character .that I have found particularly sympathetic. However, I have recently been watching old black and white episodes of Perry Mason. There are so many different characters and introduced so quickly to get the story crammed into the allotted 1 hour time frame, that by the time the murderer is pinpointed, I can't remember who they were and where they fitted into the plot.
Yesterday I looked at my house with a coldly critical eye. It is a dump. FlyLadies would drum me out of the sisterhood..
So today will be a day of housedrudgery.
Things will be tidied.
Things will be recycled.
Things will be disposed of.
Bed will be stripped.
Washing machine will beg for mercy.
Fluffy thing-on-a-stick will be flourished.
Damp cloth will be smeared around.
The vacuum will do its stuff.
The men in white coats will cart me away.
But first....COFFEEE.
