Hello maisiek, nice to "meet" you
I hope you find a lovely coat florenceem.
sorry you're not well polly, and that your foot's gone on strike mothernerd!
Monna i love your thought for today9 -
Welcome maisiekYou're lucky you chose now to delurk. You've probably read a lot of the madness of the past threads but didn't have to live through the doings of Mar, Ming, Madarthur etc. There was a time when we were figuring out how to recognise a fellow Oser and someone came up with one trouser leg rolled up. My suggestion was a rolling pin an oilcloth shopping bag and a suitably embellished nappy pin which seemed more refined. However do they listen? No.I think most of us have had the head all over the place feeling over the past year. A strange time to adapt to. I hope you will join us here.Apologies dear monna for my absence. i can produce a doctors note if needed. That reminds me of two middle infants best friends and boys ( it was usually the boys) who produced two tatty- torn out of a school exercise book- almost identical notes signed my mum in very recognisable writing including spelling mistakes. The mums were asking for them to leave after lunch as they needed to go somewhere unknown. We had a conflab in the staff room at morning break and the secretary phoned both mums to query the matter. They were totally in the dark and some questioning revealed a plan to go to the nearby park to play football on that hot sunny day! A few months later they tried it again and were met with my best Paddington hard stare and a lecture on ripping pages out of school books. It reminded me of my school days when we had to number every page at the start of each term - those nuns knew every trick in the book- from then on we adopted the number every page mode and no more problems although they weren't popular with their classmates.polly who is catching up slowly XIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.9 -
Welcome maisiek. I lived through the 1970s when everything was in short supply and sheets of A4 were handed out singly by the teacher. For subjects which had exercise books, when you needed a replacement you had to queue at a special hut in the grounds, hand over the old book for inspection which was duly checked for any unused half pages before a new one was issued. I don't know what the reaction to torn out pages would have been - the teacher concerned once dropped a completed essay back on to my desk in disgust. It had a tiny dogear on one of the pages which meant she was unable to touch the offending article. Dogear was so tiny I had to look for it.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage8

Hallo maisiek, I'm a sweet wee old lady who spends her time smiling kindly at children and dogs, and cuddling puddy tats.10

Welcome maisiek. If your head is all over the place you are in exactly the right place. Come and join all the other weirdos who have forgotten which way is up.
A couple of tips, never, ever, ever make a casual comment that you may not want to come back and haunt you. Pollyanna has the memory of an elephant and has no compunction in referring to something you may have casually dropped into the conversation 10 years ago.
Be very careful with with mar/Ming/Mardatha/Madarthur or whatever she is calling herself this week. No mention please of elephants, jellybabies, kale or patios. Any reference to the first three could possibly result in your coming into closer contact with the fourth than is beneficial to your health and well-being.
Ivy is the sweetest and kindest Fencer. She has only nice things to say to and about everyone.
Florenceem is a perfectionist craftswoman. One look at her professional blankets and shawls is enough to make you hang up your crochet hook for good.
I daren't go back to remind myself who else needs a character assassination or I will lose this post so far.
Of course there is always Monna. Wise, intellectual, always reaching out a helping hand (often to push someone right over the edge), stunningly beautiful, 35 years old, goes for a 5 mile run every morning before her cold shower, never knowingly using 1 word when 10 are clamouring to be included. What a gem!
maisiek, I'll leave you to reconsider.

QUOTE:"never, ever, ever make a casual comment that you may not want to come back and haunt you. She's blackmailed me for years.10

Hello all, just popping in for a laugh, meant in the nicest possible way of course. I've needed a cheer up after 2 really busy weeks. Why is it after 1 year of not much going on, I've had 2 back to back weeks of things that have to be endured done ? I felt the need to catch my brain in something but I'm still wearing the colander from my last escapade on this thread 🤣Pollyanna I didn't even have time to sit on the old suitcase and wait for the fish fingers and custard man 😁 I prefer old school Tom Baker the best, but I suppose I'd better not mention the jelly babies he kept in his pocket 🤐 Sorry that you have been under the weather, hope you feel better soon.Maisiek if your head is all over the place this is the right place for you because everyone will seem normal here to you....... if you're already half way round the bend that is 😂 I've also just noticed that you posted late on the Daily thread too, I missed that, so welcome to both. I think Monna has summed up the fencers very well........ the wise wumman that she is ! ( scrape.... got to keep in with teacher 😉 )I don't ever remember having problems getting exercise books, but I do remember the French teacher putting mine in the bin as it was so bad 😲 Still passed my O' level with ease though, boy did I feel smug 😊Apologies for the weird spacing in my post, I think my computer has had an upgrade/download or something. I wish the PTB would leave well alone, I don't like change, sends me doolally and takes me ages to get used to things again 😵Take care all.nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10
