I'm trawling through in no particular order. If I keep my eyes on the keyboard those annoying blue dots aren't annoying meIt sounds as though you had an Awfully big adventure monna. I'm so glad you will be keeping some of your treasures.I like keeping momentoes myself. Not long after myself and 2 eldest moved here in the mid 70s we went to an Argos at the far end of the very long high st. I was familiar with the area but children weren't. I was waiting to be served and they were looking at all the toys on display. There was a sound of brakes squealing and horns sounding when I looked around dd1 had disappeared.Long story short after a hunt by shop staff , passers by and eventually two police on foot and two patrol cars she was found nearly an hour later. She'd run between traffic across a very busy two lanes either way road . Passers by had seen her run out of the shop but it wasn't until they were questioned they mentioned a little red head in a gingham dress. I was sick with worry been told to stay outside the shop in case she came back. So my memory is giving her a smack on her leg and telling her never to do that again. I burst into tears . I've never been a child smacker. The memory in my box is a piece of paper with a picture of a little girl with red hair, one leg has a big red cross on it with an arrow pointing at the spot. Also I am scared for life!I asked her why she was scared. She meant scarred. Thankfully she settled down but 40 odd years later I still have that picture.Hope you've snuggled down monna. We havea friend who used to manage a bookshop for a small local animal rescue. Donated book for a pittance. I read all the tech books through the years including for oldies etc. I refused to buy the ones for dummies. The only useful one I bought full price from America via the big A site. It had problems with straightforward solutions which is whats needed.i had some helpful advice from Mar but still don't understand why she loves W10. Youngest will be sorting it in few days so hopefully that will be ok. I'll be writing down everything she does for future reference.I liked the bruises etc quote monna . It proves we did show up.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I'm hopeless at trying to explain things, it;s easy to do it but hard for me to explain what I'm doing. I just float around the gubbins of the Control Panel and click things to see what will happen12

I've given up just clicking things Mar, strange things happen that I don't understand. Likewise, when I am given instructions about what to do, I don't know what they are talking about. It is a foreign language.
Polly, I quite understand how you expressed your relief with a quick slap. I wasn't a smacky person either, but the only time I did it was when one of mine (and it was always the same one!) endangered their lives. There would have been more had I known what they got up to, which I didn't learn until they grew up and were swapping stories. It's a wonder DS1 ever saw adulthood. Walking across the narrow parapet of the bridge over the railway line, on the way home from school was one. Racing his car with one of his madcap friends down the multi-storey car park at Gatwick airport was another. That was the point where I didn't want to hear anymore.
I was quite looking forward to having a bit of reaction to my jab yesterday, but apart from a very slight tenderness on my arm I've nothing to report. Still, its better than last time when I had absolutely nothing and wondered if they'd made a mistake and not jabbed me at all.
Sorry I'm late again. My new charger had the night off yesterday, and when I unplugged tablet this morning it was as dead as the proverbial dodo.
THOUGHT FOR GOOD FRIDAY
When Jesus came to Golgotha they hanged him on a tree,
They drove great nails through hands and feet, and made a Calvary.
When Jesus came to Birmingham they simply passed him by,
They never harmed a hair of him, they only let him die. (G. Studdart Kennedy. Woodbine Willie)I believe that friends are quiet angels

Just had customary buttered hot x bun - yummy.
Cold here so day indoors.
Finished Gryffindor blanket and started on a second rainbow poncho.
Big spender - I got a 10% off from a sewing store - treated myself to a gathering foot - will be good when I do doll's dresses with frills.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Hello there.
I have had complaints about the Garden Fence having seemingly retired and I note that a week has gone by without me irritating anybody. Must try to do better.
Florenceem have fun with your gathering foot. I remember being taught how to do hand gathering at the ripe old age of 9 at Junior school. Even now I can hear the voice of Miss Goater barking, "Stroke those gathers girls. Stroke them firmly."
Polly, I'm with you on Windows10. I find the instructions and explanations as bewildering as the programme itself. I need someone at my elbow saying, "Click on this. Now on that. Scroll down to this. Hold these 2 together."
I can do things but I have no idea how things work, so when they don't work I'm lost.
I miss actual 'hold in the hand' photographs too. All the photos of my granddaughter, taken by her parents, are on their phones. Absolutely no use to a Grandma wanting to bore her friends.
Anyway, time to start the day.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
If a man is alone in the garden and speaks, and there is no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?I believe that friends are quiet angels

Oh monna that did make me laugh. I can imagine Ming saying that about the RV.I wonder if Polly is well or is she is still having computer problems.I don't see a lot of difference between Windows 7 and Windows 10. I think DS disabled some things so I could cope and of course I only use it for posting, shopping and looking up things. Of course I spend a lot of time on YouTube. It's not just funny animals and stuff it's a university as well. I watch a lot of documentaries and lectures from around the world.8

I keep telling them that it's not that I don't know how to do things but whereas they have always worked with windows, I have learned many different systems over the years (including the bbc apple - a project intended to put a computer into every school). They won't believe that when I was at grammar school, our deputy head (a maths graduate) had to go down the road to the local F.E. college to use their (single) computer for a week to make up our school timetable (co-ordinating each individual teacher, department and pupil).
I never ever do the just try pressing a few buttons method. Far too many times has everything disappeared from the screen (the green one with white writing), lost forever. Every so often when watching an old programme or film, I will point at the screen and squeak "Oh look, a real computer.". My brother and my ex both worked with computers. My ex described his first work computer taking up a space the size of our local town hall.
Had a strange, spendy but satisfying day yesterday, apart from the bit where my foot stopped working (wfb today - that's working from the bed). Have brought in some small sheets of sandpaper to fix the scissors that aren't working properly and a large plastic sack full of 2 l plastic bottles to be cut in half to accommodate the tomato triffids individually. The cutting can be done on the bed (used a new tarpaulin to cover the bed and drag them in). Will have some leisure time as well and later I can chop and peel any remaining fresh veg and then when I can stand up for more than 5 minutes, will throw things in pots and make magic happen. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7 -
I don't mind W10. I loathed W8!!! They seemed to think everyone would switch to a touchscreen. Thankfully they brought back the start button though it's still an unnecessary additional step to find itIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!8

Hi all, I have been awol too.
Hope all are keeping safe.
I am hoping to get a bargain price winter coat when shops open - survived for months with a coat that doesn't do up - zip has gone. Coat is old so time for a new one.

I've had possibly the worst pain flare ever. Took to my bed with hot water bottles and covered in Voltarol. It's coldtoday but the sun has got his hat onYoungest has sorted out the problems with W10 including the annoying blue blobs, total ad blocker is on and other things sorted-I'd reached the point where I felt like flinging it which is stupid! So I made it to hers, just having a brew and we're going to attempt a little walk to the village well wrapped up.Thanks Mar for the adblocker suggestion.Back later.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
