MingVase said:Monna can I ask how you made the beaks?Beaks what madness is this?Email problems then another temporary laptop fail. I've had to give in and buy a new one recommended by some posters on another part of the forum. Ordered to dds Friday delivered there Saturday and she set it all up yesterday. I've just brought it home and spent ages trying to find my internet . It was set on theirs, thank goodness for my little black book. She'd already set up my MSE details even finding the right Glasgow Rose.Needless to say I've been in meltdown without the internet. All conversations on the phone and she doesn't normally do phones. She;s sent me home with a supply of homemade soup full of good things and I can honestly say all the years of worry and effort were worthwhile. I have my own quiet angel.Need to catch up and make sure Mar hasn't knitted herself a chicken outfit in my absence but is stuck when it comes to a realistic beak.I have been dragged from W7 after the Dell toW8 with the three temporary in laptops . I'm now on W10 and trying to find my way around. At least I'm still me on MSE but if you have a matching Vase Ming keep it handy just in case.pollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Eye tests for both of us today. Told the best thing for me is varifocals but I don't want them because of Meniere's disease. Optician was a bit narky - saying they have patients with Meniere's disease who wear them. I don't want to risk dizzy spells and falling over.
Then he told me opposite of what previous Optician said - to wear distance glasses when out shopping. Previous Optician said my distance glasses were for driving - we have no car - watching television - we don't have a tv and trips to cinema and theatre.- which have stopped due to Covid so the long distance glasses have been sitting unused in a drawer. Now I have a prescription for 2 new pairs of glasses and so does Mr F. Mr F saw same Optician and said that he was short with him.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 4,177 June - 55/3

Mr F saw same Optician and said that he was short with him.I've heard a lot of conflicting reports of opticians and other professionals. Some very good, some not so. There is no reason for ever being short with a customer. If you don't feel you and your husband have the right prescriptions- not sure if they are or not- I would complain. If you have to pay for the prescriptions what you are prescribed needs to be fit for purpose.Even if they are I'd be looking for another Optician for future needs. There's a big assumption that everyone drives nowadays. I gave up for health reasons. Don't watch much TV unless David Tennant is in the cast or it's a decent drama. My TV is about 13- 14 years old and still working. We aren't all constantly buying new although many assume it's a normal way of life.Different views to your previous optician are possible if things have altered but you know yourself best and what is good or otherwise for your needs.I have a list in my head. Three consultants, one physio and a few others we've walked away from with our GPs back up. Being nasty or abrupt is never acceptable.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

We found a lovely optician here, she said husband doesn't need new glasses and I got readers for £55. Although sometimes there isn't much to see inside a vase..

I've discovered you all seem to talk a lot when I'm AWOL! I've been skimming through the posts i missed and the crafters have come out of the cupboard. A lot to read so will work through tomorrow.Lovely quotes from Monna. I like the one about the door. Hard to believe burtha's youngest is 18. For now I'll say Safe home to burtha's frog and take care all.if anyone has an Acer laptop is it normal to have two blue blobs ahead of where you're typing?pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Sorry Polly, I have nothing to say about computers, apart from using words that should never sully this high-minded thread. The whole thing is a mystery that I have no intention of trying to unravel. To use my favourite phrase, 'Life's too short.'
I made a good start on sorting paper work yesterday. The shredder is still in shock and the recycling bin has indigestion. Today, with a bit of luck and a following wind, I will continue with the good work. It is going to take a while, and in the meantime the rest of the house will be gently mouldering. Sigh!
I have an appointment for my second jab on Thursday, a couple of hours before my first dentist visit in over a year. I am taking the rest of Thursday off.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Maybe life isn't about avoiding the bruises. Maybe it's about collecting the scars to prove that we showed up for it.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Beautiful weather here. Mr F went off to catch a train to go for a Dentist's appointment - train was running too late for him so now he is going on Thursday.
I finished 25 hat bands today and they have been collected.
Next I made a requested boy bunny - looks like a pirate type to me.
My lovely lady Optician retired. I do prefer an independent Opticians rather than one of the chains.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 4,177 June - 55/3
