Well GreenB, you are not going to get very far if you are trimming hedges and tidying greenhouses. That is backsliding in a big way.
Worry not. Ming and I will be running classes soon. If we can be bothered.I believe that friends are quiet angels

So just to be clear @monnagran, according to you and @MingVase anything other than lying around drinking tea and eating jelly babies is risky?

Absolutely darling - don't risk it! Save your energy for urgent episodes - like emergency middle-ot-the-night garden landscaping etc.

I've already sent 2 beautifully crafted posts into oblivion, so here is the abridged edition.
GreenB. Most definitely. As far as I know, no one has yet broken a limb while prone on a sofa, or picked up a passing germ from the safety of their recliner.
And tea is good for you.
The jury is out on jelly babies.

So I disapppear for a while and return to find monna and Mar have joined forces. i still haven't recovered from the Mings and Amy Pond so please give me a break.Nan I'm going to call you Nan from now on because I may have misjudged you, I was having a think a few days ago and realised your Dr may not be my Dr so we may have been fighting over the wrong one. My Dr is the best doctor ever David Tennant and I think yours may be Matt Smith who took over aas the next Dr. If that's so you may loll about and sit on your suitcase for however long you wish although we do like to see a bit of activity here every now and then .Well apart from monna who's excused and has a Drs note because it's very draining living with an uncooperative tablet that drains your energy on an ongoing basis. That's what she says anyway so who am I to question that.TBH I watched a few of the Matt Smith episodes but never took to him in the role. My Dr Who watching ended when DT entered the box saying"I don't want to go" I am lucky the boxset of all DT episodes- 23 DVD Discs. I was probably one of the first in the preorder queue. I also have the box of complete Christmas specials.Every Christmas since the demise of my Dr I watch them all. Although I know exactly what's going to happen when he steps into that box I shed a few tears. One of the very few benefits of the past strange and worrying year apart from the fact I seem to have spent a lot less money concentrating on needs not wants and home asap is although I was missing them all it's the first Christmas ever there haven't been various family members muttering " Not again mum, Haven't you worn them out yet?" "You must know every word " and many othervariations. "Hush" I would say " We can start on the Christmas specials tomorrow, people have Christmas ( sorry mothernerd it's only February and I've typed the C word. Sorry Elf ) but that's how the discussion goes.) Traditions and this is one of mine.I bet some of them are hoping for future Christmas lockdowns to avoid my tradition. I now have David Tennant and Michael Sheen under my roof in my preordered two series of Staged. That made me laugh so much when it was shown on TV. It's a much better watch now it isn''t 15 or 20 minutes short episode and has a lot of extras not seen on the TV showings incuding the "Bloopers" Very good for those feeling a bit low, you can't help laughing.I suppse it's time to make a brew and catch up here.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Sometimes if I try to edit a long post I manage to lose the lot so Lovely, lovely thought for today monna. Thinking back to the sixties and seventies so many of us had such conviction that campaigning and hard work would lead to a much kinder and fairer society for all. Much did change but nowhere near enough and the present situation is going to mean a lot of fallout for so many both in daily life and mental health wise.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I'm limited to when I'm allowed to start playing the Pogues 'Fairytale of New York' and get shouted at for singing along or playing it too often. In the days when we still had a tv, I insisted on watching the specials and the repeats. Didn't matter who was there (mostly DS3's friends, they had no say in the matter, they could watch Dr Who or go somewhere else. We had all the boxes of West Wing (bought as soon as they came out even though I was very poor) and Spooks. I remember having flu and sleeping on the couch downstairs, sleeping for a while and then putting the dvds on.
I like all the modern doctors (only seen a couple of Jodie but DS3 and his beloved have watched a few and say it's not her fault, but the writing is terrible) but 'my' doctor is still William Hartnell (I can even recite the football results because that's when we came in from playing to settle down and wait for it to come on). I stopped watching in the bad years - Peter Davidson and Colin Baker yuk (although I like quite a lot of other things Peter has been in).
The three constants from my childhood are Dr Who, the Beatles and Lego. Mum things it's weird and expects other people to think so too, but probably I was ahead of my time. D-i-l is a fellow Whovian and having three boys, we've been through nearly every cult film/ tv series (yesterday I was looking for 'serenity' quotes - my mini challenge on the turtle thread this week is Peace, Kindness and Patience - and it gave me loads of Firefly stuff). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage9 -
Still raining, clattering down on the skylight above my head at the moment, I find these first few months of the year a bit 'meh' when they're dull and wet like this, just the cold you can do something about, wrap up and walk, add an extra layer or light the stove but the constant rain and wetness underfoot make walking unpleasant and make it impossible to do any work on the allotment or in the garden, drives me crazy! we have a Tesco delivery this afternoon which is needed as the fridge is looking like it belongs to mother Hubbard, plenty of tinned and dry stores still but the fresh stuff seems to evaporate between deliveries these days and we've very little to harvest from the plots, just some purple sprouting broccoli, a few parsnips still standing over and half a row of leeks past their best. I shall have to look out my old recipes for Lent and befriend the lentil again I think.4

Good morning, Fencers. Wet and miserable today, but it won't last long. Yesterday I felt virtuous after sowing flower seeds and dividing a clump of bluebell plants in two. I also did some pruning of dead wood and tidied the patio area, sunshine seems to give me a burst of energy. I'm not alone, people were out and about washing their cars yesterday.
Two busy days at work this week, plus a lot of online choir activity culminating in a live You Tube gig Friday lunchtime and a Big Sing party night Friday evening.
A week today it will be the meteorological first day of Spring. I always feel rejuvenated when Spring comes, probably because I was a Spring baby. One life - your life - live it!9
