OK. I have now lost two posts. One long one and one shorter one bemoaning the loss of the first one.
Not writing any more.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Oh life is a glorious cycle of song,
A medley of extemporanea;
And love is a thing that can never go wrong.
And I am Marie of Romania. (Dorothy Parker)I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.11 -
One of the nicest things on a dreary Friday when it's cold and miserable and tipping down with rain is to have a baking session which not only makes the kitchen warm and smelling delicious but results in nice things to have with afternoon tea over the next few days and a feeling of satisfaction seeing it all cooling on the rack on the table.7

Good morning fencers.
I hope you are all ready for a busy, fun-packed weekend.
No?
Oh well, it's back to the comfy clothes/puttering round the house/reading/listening/watching and chatting on the phone then. It's a tough life.
burtha must be well on her way to John O'Groats by now. How much further burtha? After that it's Southwards all the way. By my reckoning you'll be here at about Christmas. I'll not only have the kettle boiled, but a drop of Bailey's and a mince pie at the ready. Can't wait.
It's a bit dampish here this morning. I've not bothered to look up the weather forecast, it won't apply to us anyway. The island is famous for having different weather at each side of the street. You could be sitting in your garden lounger, basking in the hot sun, when your neighbour will walk past swathed in waterproof and soaked to the skin, having walked all of 100 yards.
Anyway, must get on. Today is the day when I buy a newspaper and spend the day doing all the crosswords, sudokus etcetera. It's a tradition.

Monna I love your days. You are my role model!

Still raining...it's beginning to feel like a clip from Blade Runner the movie where it drips dismally throughout the whole film. The weather forecast explained the jet stream has wriggled to a place where it's drawing in all the moisture and warmer air from the Atlantic but I'm finding the explanation not much comfort as the forecast is for it to be like this the whole weekend and into next week too...roll on dry and slightly warmer weather, it really would be nice to be able to sit out in the garden to read a book!5

Slightly drizzly here at times, but I still made the effort to do some flower seed sowing outdoors - seeds into pots, then the pots placed indoors on windowsills. I also divided a clump of bluebell plants, so I now have two big pots of bluebells instead of one. I am determined to have lots of flowers this year, as well as edible stuff.

Am admiring of those who've ventured out into the garden - to work that is, not generally
I've been to fill up the bird feeders and that is it. I have barely hung any washing out these past few weeks, the weather has been so grim and i'm an obsessive washing hangerer outer.
I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -

I've been out in the garden today. One side of the hedge has been trimmed (not the top or the inside), the greenhouse has been tidied, the seed tray rack built and the seed trays moved out of the dining room into the greenhouse. I now have room for lots more seeds!
VJsmum - I haven't hung the washing outside for months (I think). It's been so soggy that I don't want to walk on the grass, so I've put the washing lines away and am drying stuff indoors (on airers in the kitchen, where the underfloor heating means stuff dries quickly, although sheets and towels have to be tumbled). I'm looking forward to line-drying again.10
