ivyleaf said:I'm obviously missing something here. Our pharmacy too is now too busy to either text people to say their meds are ready or to answer the phone (in fact most of the time I don't think they even notice it ringing, they're too busy!)
What I don't understand is, if you can't do anything for COVID-19 except take paracetamol, what are all these extra prescriptions that are causing pharmacies to be run off their feet?
I was in tears by this time. 😢
In the end I waylaid someone in the street from a few houses away, whom I don’t even know, and begged them to help. (Cue mad woman in tears in her front garden yelling across the street).
I got the inhalers but they’d left out the other item, and I just couldn’t face going through all that again, so decided to go without until next month.
The inhalers were the important thing, as I need those every day.
I just hope they have done the re-order thing for next month.
It was a horrid experience, as I’ve had to be so independent over many years and don’t have a circle of supportive family or friends.....my two neighbours are both in At Risk groups themselves, so I can’t ask them.
I can put up with everything else about this lockdown, but that left me feeling abandoned.(I just lurve spiders!)

Thanks burtha, that helps a bit, and you and your colleagues are so much appreciated. Our pharmacy is a small independent one too, which is really nice, as we get to know the staff. They're letting two customers in at a time atm, and things are much calmer than usual in there iykwim8

@Pyxis - my prescription was picked up by contacting the local volunteer group (details are on our FB group, and they also leafleted), who then found someone who could go and collect it. It’s really tough at the moment as we don’t have the systems in place to adapt easily to all the massive changes so quickly. Seeing some of the stuff on Twitter/FB makes me realise that while we could probably cope with many of these things if they happened separately, it’s the fact that they are all happening at once that is the problem. What do you do first? How do you prioritise? We’re learning all the time, just as we’re learning about the disease. It WILL settle down, but it takes time - and unfortunately some of the entitled posts i’m seeing about ‘I’ve been a customer for years, how dare your website be down/my order have substitutions’ aren’t helping, I may grumble about my veg box contents and not being able to get delivery slots, but I know it’ll settle down shortly.
I’m grounded due to my risk to others, not the risk to myself - I couldn’t live with my conscience if I went out rather than put up with meals i’m not crazy about. Thankfully i’m not at the empty cupboards stage, and I do have access to a volunteer network although i’m only using them when absolutely necessary.
I hope I can continue to be positive. I’m starting week 6 of being unwell (hence the new, aggressive and somewhat experimental treatment, and week 5 of meeting the self-isolation criteria and being at home on my own. I’m expecting at least 3 more weeks of it, even if the treatment works.
So far today i’ve taken 3 of my 5 doses of medication and made soup from the spring cabbage stalks (and a few other bits and pieces!).9 -

I can easily put up with everything else! Even the lack of Caramac! 😁
I am so sorry you have been so unwell.☹️☹️
I do hope the new treatment works.
This is my fifth week too, not due to being ill like you, but being terrified of catching this thing, as I get lots of chest infections. Maybe the isolation is making me a bit doolally!
Keep your pecker up! Cabbage stalk soup sound lovely! 😉😉
edit........no Prosecco coming this week.....they’re out of it. Will have to make do with some beer instead...not my favourite, but any port in a storm! 😁

You're both doing the right thing staying in but the uncertainty does make us all anxious at times. Better staying in than being the elderly gent who went to my DHs supermarket yesterday and gave him a lecture on the lack of choice of bread, said it isn't acceptable and he pays my husband's wages! Not anymore he doesn't, he's been banned.Spend less now, work less later.10

Hopefully you’ll find another treat to add to your box - things keep appearing! Try not to panic... it won’t help your asthma 🤕 You’re doing the right thing not going out, so you need to remember that your risk of getting the virus is low because you’re at home, and eating all that lovely fresh fruit and veg 🥦🥒🥕🍅🍐🍎🍏🍊 Hopefully you can find out about your local volunteers and by next month have something arranged so that someone can pick your prescription up.
ok... off to take dose 4💊 This one means I need to stay upright for 30 mins to avoid it bouncing back 🤢9 -

People can be very peculiar sometimes.
Mind you, if he hasn't been glued to the TV, he might not realise the seriousness of the situation.(I just lurve spiders!)

Yes, lubberly fruit and veg! Keep my strength up!
I always give my veg box delivery man a good clap when he comes now, from a distance, and leave him a little note of appreciation, seeing as how I can’t give him a hug! 😁(I just lurve spiders!)
