Polly DS starts full time on Monday. Once he has passed his trial period the job is for life if he wants it.
I have been thinking I may as well go to British Gas the same as everyone else for just a few months. Will try everything I can and maybe talk to the Housing Association again. I found out this afternoon my freezer had been off all day. Thankfully it was only a fuse. Both of my freezers think they have just had huge Christmas dinners, they would be groaning when one goes off. Could not put a stamp in the other freezer.
By the way we are still on the temporary electricity line from back in March I think it was. There may not be any gas before we move. You never know.0 -
Hi, I have a query that I am wondering if you garden fencers can help with.
DS is going to uni in two weeks and we are starting to think about what he needs.
One thing is a quilt, we have a load of double quilts for some reason but no singles. Rather than buying a new single, is it possible to cut down a double quilt to make a single?I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
VJsmum I have double quilts on my single bed. I find single ones fall off when you turn over. If you have more double quilt cover than single give him a double. As long as there is room in the car double quilts can be more useful than single.0

Actually, that probably is the best idea. I thought I'd buy him new covers anyway, he is making do with a lot of old stuff for other things (kitchenware, printer, towels etc) as I have so much (from getting rid of the caravan and because DD has come back from uni with loads of stuff). A couple of covers sets won't break the bank. And it's a lot less hassle. And he is 6'1 and fairly hefty so I think he'd be better off with a double.
Thanks for the clarityI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I ditto this idea - we use a king size on a double bedMust use my stash up!0

Morning all,
It has turned into a busy week, which I expect will continue to happen.
Nursemaggie, I feel tired just reading about your journey and son's schedule and all the noise. No wonder your digestion is everywhere. I hope you're able to find a bit of down time over the next few days. I don't know about your meter questions, but I do know there are several sites you can use to compare energy prices--uswitch.com, gocompare.com, comparethemarket.com and moneysupermarket.com will all let you compare prices. We've been with Firstutility for several years now as they've always had the best rate. Their website/phone system seems to have improved the last few years--not perfect but not the worst we've dealt with. If you stay with the some company when you move then it isn't a problem to fix for longer than you expect to be where you are. It means you can't shop around again for a few months, but given you'll be in a similar area we have found that even once we can shop around we end up back at the same company, so worth considering if you have the option.
VJs Mum, I expect the double will be fine, as will making do with the old stuff. A nice new cover is likely the biggest thing in the room so will probably have the most impact for your money in terms of brightening it up. Good luck to him!
OH and I are planning a walk today and then chores tomorrow and a nice anniversary meal. Then it is back to school on Monday for OH. I'm still in and out for a couple of weeks but I have plenty to get on with. One very exciting development, I've splurged on a nice new food flask for myself so I can have hot meals in the colder months for lunch. Sad person that I am I can't wait to use itWe've also each got a bag of snacks and herbal teas to take in for our desks to keep us out of the snack machines and me out of the cafe. It feels expensive now but will save in the long run.

VJsmum - I would stick to the double quilt. When DS1 went into halls the bed was actually bigger than a single but not quite a double, a double quilt did the job - he's 6'2" so a single wouldn't really have done him!0

Hugs to burtha.
We're going to buy a new fridge/freezer today, woo hoo, I'm easily pleased.
I'm fed up with having a fridge that doesn't get cold enough to keep milk fresh and a freezer that doesn't work at all. The new one is still tiny as it needs to fit under the counter but if it works I'll be happy.
We have visitors this afternoon they are bringing a wedding invitation, Elona I shall wear the black and white dress you gave me. I have a pink stole I can wear with it.
We have a king size duvet on a double left bed too.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
I've never bough single divets. the double hangs over the sides and hides all the mess (ahem PREPS) underneath.0

Hester did you get a caravan fridge? They do boats too and they're good.0
