NM I'm no expert on gas suppliers but when i wanted to change from S Power years ago . I just went on the websites to look at the various costs whether fixed or not . I compared unit prices and then read feedback on the Energy forum on MSE .
When I finally chose a new supplier I just phoned them up . It means a few phone calls back and forth but then once the old readings are taken you communicate online .
I didn't have to fill in any forms back then to compare just went by unit price and feedback .
It may have changed by now but you'll be looking for prices that aren't part of a fixed deal so it may be possible to still find them without all the faffing .

nursemaggie wrote: »Good morning Monna I keep R3nnies but can't take them in the mornings as I take medication to cut down my acid. I can't take them together in fact I can't take antacids for 2 hours either side. A whole bottle of G*v*sc*n dosn't do a thing for me.
Food for the last two days has been totally disrupted anyway, mostly sandwiches while travelling, not just the late night meal. I only had a microwave meal. I don't usually eat them. I am trying to move our main meal to when DS gets home. Not working very well as no two days are alike.
They take the orders that came in up to midnight, and divide them between each picker. They then all work until all of the orders for each shop are on pallets, wrapped ready for delivery and placed next to where the lorries are loaded. When everything is all done they all go home and the next shift do the next lot of orders. This means they never know what time they finish.
Friday, Saturday and Sundays are busiest. There is no bus until after 1 pm, so if they finish early he walks for about a mile and gets an ordinary bus. Hence the wanting to move. The bus he gets back to Bolton is a rather busy one, always full. It takes him 2 hours each way.
Hence the thoughts of moving.
I need to ask how I start a new thread. Due to us needing a gas meter. I wrote to my energy supplier has dumped me as they do not fit gas meters. I wish I could ask in the cheap energy club but, You just fill forms in, there is not way of explaining difficulties, or having a situation that's almost unique.
I will post my problems on here too because someone may know what to do.
I wrote to my energy supplier weeks ago because the gas was supposed to go in on 24/07/2017. They finally answered me on Wednesday morning just as I was leaving home. I could not get on their website anyway until this morning.
The answer went all round the houses but basically they cannot change the meter I need a new supplier.
The only thing is I cannot go the usual way about it because of needing the new meter and I cannot get a fix because we hoped to have moved long before a fix ends.
Is there a way to compare suppliers without having to phone them all?
The gas people dug a small trench on 24th July. We have seen nothing of them since. We have not had any communication from the housing association either.
The kids that come in our garden to play have broken all the barriers. There is all sorts in the trench and the barriers are all laid flat. The Electricity people left all their barriers too. You can't blame the kids for playing with them it's like having a giant set of Maccano.
Good my heartburn has gone.
NM I will pm you .... Andrea0 -
I've lost track of the meter issue over various posts . I would think as the landlord is changing to gas heating and taking out the electric storage heaters it would be for him to stand the cost of meter installation not the tenants .
Have you looked on the OFGEM site . There may be some information there ?
No wonder you've had heartburn !

I had the heartburn a couple of hours before I managed to get onto the website. I do not think we have to pay. If we do they can put it in after we move. I'm not paying for anything else for this flat. I's a Housing Association not a landlord.
This is them looking after their tenants giving them more affordable heating.
Storage heating is very expensive and gives you heat when you least want it i.e. in the middle of the night. and leaves you with none when you sit down in the evening.
I just may have to go to one of the bigger companies to get a new meter put in.
I feel dizzy now have felt dizzy for a couple of hours. I think it must be all the shaking and banging you get on a bus. 14 hours out of the last 36 hours I have been on a moving bus. no time to stop and do something else because of the travel times. I do things like do the charity shops in a suburb and break up the journey. I usually stop in the city centre for a t least and hour. No time this time.0 -
I think you should get some rest today . You've had a hard couple of days .
Pity the neighbours aren't helpful . The HA should be keeping everyone in the loop and they are responsible for all installation costs meters included .
No doubt future tenants will be paying higher rent as a result of upgrading .
I would try a thread on the energy board . There are helpful people who follow the in and outs of the suppliers and could advise you .
Get those feet up

Nursemaggie - regarding digestive issues, you need to decide what time of day suits you best for your main meal. Do your meal and put your son's meal on a plate to heat up when he's ready to eat. You can sit with him and have a cup of tea while he's eating, and you will still be able to eat together on his days off. Regular mealtimes are the key.One life - your life - live it!0

I don't normally spend 7 hours a day sitting on buses and eating while travelling. That was beyond my control.0
