  • Mar, no we bought a normal one it was £169, it will run on our solar power. The proper caravan/boat one were £500 plus.

Maryc I hope you feel better this morning.
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Sorry to hear of your worries maryc, hope someone will be able to help you.

Good luck with the househunting nm, I hope I never have to move again!

Only a couple more months for you at work HH, bet you're looking forward to it.

I've had a preserving morning so far - made beetroot chutney and onion marmalade as I had pulled both from the little allotment yesterday, the house smells delicious. I also blanched and bagged up 5 bags of french beans that have gone in the freezer.

Right, I really must have a shower and get dressed - not that I'm going anywhere!
  • hi and thank you to any one who answered me. I will be ok i know this but its right now Im worried about giving my name and birth date to a government organization when I owe the government some tax money, Im still feeling very worried that because they have more resources than any debt collector, my name might come up as some alert on me somehow.

maryc, they would never dare breach patient confidentiality that way - can you imagine the hooha? I could just see it on the front page of the Daily Mail in my mind's eye!!

Try to relax and stop worrying - easier said than done, I know. The longer you are so wound up and anxious, the longer it will be before you are in a position to deal with things. Everyone says what a load of relief it is when they get a programme in place to deal with the debts. Keep thinking of that and how good it will feel
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

The Government will have first dibs on any repayments but as others have said stage one is to get a debt plan in place then start slowly paying back - once the plan is in place I understand that the hounds *sorry* debt collection agencies are called off so you would be able to breath a little easier!
    Must use my stash up!
  • thank you to everyone who answered. yes im looking forward to not thinking about this all the time, it really is horrible.

sorry to keep going on about it but has anyone heard of someone being traced this way? what if someone who worked in the nhs and had access to records also worked for debt investigators and was selling them information?
  • Welcome to The Fence maryb.

I agree with those who've mentioned the Debt Free - Wannabee board . Those who either have diaries or take part in the challenges have a wealth of real life experience in these matter . They are kind and supportive and you wont find nasty or critical people on the threads .
I am lucky not to have debt but often read The NST Challenge as it has many pointers to spending less , making time for yourself and freeing up cash for the important things .
Read a couple of the diaries and see if putting your problem there will help .
I know your details cannot be passed to debt agencies by either Govt or NHS. There is a code of practice which forbids that happening .
Meanwhile I would advise you to go over to the Debt Free board . They can advise you on how to sort the debt problem in an affordable way and give yourself peace of mind which is priceless .
Good luck I hope you will join us here too . Always room for one more .
We wander back and forth between the sublime and the ridiculous but in times of hurt and worry there are kind hearts , gentle words and never ending support . You will be very welcome x

Cranky love I can't believe how shallow and thoughtless some people can be . Your own health and the House Trolls is plenty for you to deal with but you support that lady so much and I find the reaction of all involved unforgivable . You must be feeling so hurt and confused . S*d the lot of them love !
Sending you and the boy non painful hugs form a cool and wet bit of our NW . Take care
    polly xx

Will be back later 2 days to catch up on .

If you can't find something suitable depending on time and proximity IKEA used to sell very low price pure cotton duvet covers and pillowcases . I bought a few sets a few years ago and have since bought for others . They're still going strong here . And when I last bought they had a fair number of male type patterns .

  • Well I suppose if anyone was going to confuse maryc and maryb it was going to be me the self confessed queen of the typos .
Welcome maryc and apologies to maryb!

I hope you feel a lot better now NM . The railway station should be up and running on Wednesday which should make the journeys a bit easier . Thanks for the mention of chrome . The lappy and I spent yesterday at the family techies home while they did more sorting out .
Chrome is possibly the way it will be but there are a few options so it's considering the pros and cons of each .

Hope you enjoy your break Floss . In the 60s I was keen to move to St Davids but once I got caught up with Scotland never wanted to go anywhere else . If we could just convince our doctor he wants to be there too we'd be there .

burtha You sound much more positive . I know there's a long way ahead but you will get there . Wise choice not dancing on the tables , some years since I did it but I'll take a chance and do it with you when all is sorted . When I gave up alcohol years ago I found it hilarious watching those who were drinking while I was stone cold sober . I never wanted to do it again . As my mum used to say when the drinks in the wits out .

Hester Please can I be a fly on the wall as you work those last few weeks ? I'll hide in a corner and not make a sound .
Glad you sorted the fridge it should make things easier .
The way the cleaning jobs are flooding in you may need whatever version of a butty boat will work with yours to store your bits and bobs . Onward and forward the way you're going you could create an empire :D

Karcher If you're feeling down don't suffer alone . So many here have known and come through those times . x

The house troll has one of those itty bitty camera/video things that strap to various body parts....I could lend it to HH. That would be interesting,....

Thanks for your thoughts Polly, I've spent most of today with some good friends who have picked me up, cheered me up and sent me on my way smiling again. I am such a mug sometimes. I have saved the photo of the bullseye on my front on my phone in case anyone tries to put the gel on me again. I still have the mark but it's fainter - happily I have a fleece top on today rather than a t-shirt so nobody can see it.

MaryC, the government have access to the debt collection resources (like Exp+rian - heaven help me the menopause has made me forget the name) which usually offer free credit checks. It also has access to any records through which you would claim benefits or child benefit. I used to work in debt enforcement for the CSA. Don't hold it against me - I hated it too - there were so many cases that just didn't fit the standard model, but anyways.....the only people that have access to NHS records are NHS personnel. Your dentist could access your doctors records to make sure that what he is about to prescribe for your tooth infection doesn't clash with anything else you are taking (my dentist says's he's too scared to access it though, he says he thinks bells and whistles will sound and he'll be arrested, lol). However, as the rest here have said there is so much peace of mind to be obtained from sorting out the problem and not having to be looking over your shoulder all the time fearing the worst.
  • Cranky The idea of Hester having a little camera on her person could be great comedy value as long as she remembers ahem to remove it at certain times  Various incarnations of the tougher threads have been locked at times only to return anew . However I imagine Hester and CHS wild and free may be too much for The Towers .
Good to hear you had a good day of friendship and support .
DD and the doctor pass her phone back and forth during appts . The week before last it led to an Xray which has now morphed into an US Scan . They both think it's better than trying to describe stuff and has the benefit she can do it in the days between the 2 weekly appts :rotfl:

Monna dearest , could you don your Miss Read hat every now and then and shout Punctuation and Comma at me in your best owner and head of school voice ? English language and Literature were my strongest subjects and I managed to teach many an infant to read and love those subjects too . Look what I've become !
