  • 10cm of the fine powdery stuff so far. 18C with a windchill making it feel like -27C.

Let's leave it at, my nose nearly froze on the walk to the car from work.

    Expecting another 10cm overnight.

Nice to see your wee face back here Polly!

Thanks Mar . Did you manage to get your appetite back? I've been wondering how you were but still caught in sleepless nights and nothing I try is working . Don't want a chemical solution so am trying different approaches which are not really sorting it .

Hope the weather isn't too bad . It's been like Narnia here all week but today was just ice this morning and tonight so hopefully the snow is gone . Sorry to see it's moved down south so stay warm all . It's been biggest of big coats days here in the North .

Ivyleaf The earliest of the daffs have just started to flower here . Living by the sea with a good shelter belt of trees usually provides a bit of a micro climate until the winds come in or the storms arrive . The winter and spring violas have been brilliant over the months . After 43 years here I've learned what will not only survive but thrive .

Today dd was too sick to go to her 2 weekly appointment with Superdoc . He's done all her repeat meds which were due today . I've dragged myself to town to see how many were in stock and do some shopping . Treated myself to 2 new books on buy one get one half price . The shops were busy, they've been very quiet since Christmas with not much in the way of queues but today both Marks and SBs were pretty full . Talking to the taxi driver on the way home he reminded me it was the 1st post Christmas payday for a lot of people .

VJ I notice it's goodbye Guy Garvey - I still love that song- and Hello Hamilton .That's also brilliant .Through flu, viruses and little sleep I've been amusing myself rewriting songs . It started with an Abba number and has gone on . Hamilton is well suited to reworking so that's next on the list .I do not want to be in the room however .

Anyway enough of the early morning witterings . I seem to have eaten a triple pack of Marks trifles and crave the return of normality .
Current Dr opinion is dd is either coming down with another virus or possibly a different strain of flu to the one she kindly passed on to me. Hopefully it's just one of the viruses she picks up, we realised today she had the warning tingle a few days ago which usually heralds a cold sore and some other virus on the way .Luckily she's been on permanent antiviral medication for a few months now . No cold sores have appeared since and no sign of any so far .She's now stopped being sick and dizzy after being ill throughout last night so hopefully it will settle and not morph into anything .

I was thinking earlier if it is flu I may have to auction her on EBay but on reflection I'd have to join and live with the guilt when I've managed a few nights sleep and sanity has returned .

I haven't noticed NM or Softstuff on here lately so I hope all is well with them and other regulars .

Take care and stay warm everyone. If you were struggling to sleep tonight you've probably nodded of nicely while polly has been wittering .

I'm going to make a cup of my bedtime Yorkshire tea and brave the upstairs .

    pollyx.

Pollywolly the only way I get a decent night's sleep is if I get up really early and stay awake all day. Early as in 5.30 to 7.30. And these cold mornings I just couldn't do it.
  • Thank you for the good wishes for my eye op, it was not without its challenges, but its done and am 1/4 down the road to recovery. Tonight is the last night with the shield on...hooray....have you ever tried reading through a plastic shield on one eye? I can drive the car tomorrow too. Just one more week on the antibiotics and 3 on the other stuff. Have an appointment with the optician in 4 weeks time.

sight in my right eye is much improved although I know I will always have to wear glasses. My daughter says I look weird without them, not like her Mum at all.

Burda, hope everything continue to go well for you and you have been warm and snug through the bad weather.

Was it a cataract op, csarina? i had mine done last year - the more recent one in October. I still have astigmatism in one eye, but the other is fine. I use off-the-peg glasses for reading, but i bought some from the optician's for reading + using the computer. Distance vision is ok though. What i'm really looking forward to is swimming when we're on holiday; I stopped several years ago because my sight was so bad.

OH has found it very difficult to get used to seeing me without my glasses; he says he keeps expecting me to put them on :)

Mar - brew yourself a nice cuppa & snuggle down with Beeglie for a wee while. It's P-ing down here and dismal too :( Any get up and go I had has got up and gone.
Just running through in my mind what jobs I need to do and how many I can leave to another day.

Sun oot now silvasava but blustery wind and not nice out. I want to knit but find it hard sitting knitting in the mornings, always feel lazy somehow. And yet I've sat here on the laptop since I got up lol - doing nothing at all!
  • Grey and dull here too, CHS is sat at his laptop, he's seething, but I've no idea what about.
    Chin up, Titus out.
