Congratulations burtha, always nice to hear from you.
I struggle to attract birds into my garden too - now have a feeder with a mix of nuts, seeds and suet pellets. They seem to like that, finally.
It's quiet here - not that i help. Still trying to make sense of chaotic data and the clock is ticking...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Burtha - congratulations to you on becoming a grandmother and to the new mum & dad. Glad they're both doing OK. New life in your family Burtha - a cause for much happiness and I do hope it's a portent of this year for you.
Burtha - also birds need water! I don't particularly feed mine as my neighbour puts food out for them but I do have a bird bath on a stand that they all seem to love and I've also a large crock dish at ground level that's also visited by the local foxes from time to time and hedgehogs.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Aww congratulations on becoming a nanna/grandma/nanny Burtha such a happy event & glad mum n little one are doing well.
Also Congrats on the Great North Run entry.. what time are you hoping to beat?
I dont really like to encourage birdies into my garden as I have 2 mogs who would be delighted at an easy meal!! There are trees to the front of my property so I put water out in a small dish near those & put up the odd fat filled coconut (where the mogs are too lazy to climb)
It’s great to read such a positive post, has given me a small kick up the rump, been wallowing a little, resisting change and generally feeling carp"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇0 -
Congratulations Burtha, lovely to hear of a new baby.
No advice here re feeding the birds, I discourage them from coming into my garden as they make a mess of the washing!0 -
Thank you ,
Would love to run gnr in just under 2 hours , but who knows ... last year was 2 39 , but I stood on a rusty nail that went straight through my food a few days before I did it , so hence why I want to run it again this year ..... I'm still running daily , did 1404 miles last year .... ran daily for 496 days now , love it , it gives me time to think ,breath ... aiming for 100 miles a month this year as I'm planning on some other stuff as well , fancy some white water rafting and climbing ... who knows .
Ref the birds , bird table ideas and plans have been made , and even looking into making a small pond in a old tin bath tub I've got ... should be fun ... hopefully get started tomorrow afternoon after I run 10 miles 😊 ...
Hope everyone is safe in this wind , but blowy tonight ...

I did the GNR about 6 years ago. When asked if i had a finishing time to aim for i said "on the same day i start it, still on my own two feet" :rotfl: I actually did it in 3.09 which i was fairly pleased with. It's an amazing atmosphere isn't it? My aim was to do it, thoroughly enjoy it and never want to do it again!! I have achieved that aim
It seems a long way, but I frequently walk further when doing our Wales Coast Path walk - last week's leg was 14.5 miles, the next one in a few weeks is 18  That's a long way for my 55 year old legs... You can't always cut them short due to where the start and finish places are...
It's a good point about the birds needing water - i will ensure the bird bath is topped up along with the feeder.
My boy is home for the weekend - or at least today. He hasn't made his mind up whether to go back tonight or tomorrow, I reckon he'll stay till tomorrow though. he seems more settled now, having had a bit of a crisis at the end of last year :T
Am trying to sum up the courage and energy to go buy a new laptop today - courage cos it's a lot of money, energy cos I'll have to learn how to use it...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I haven't been getting notifications for MSE I wondered why you were all so quiet!
Need to ask please OSers, when do the big shops have their end of winter sales? I want to get a couple of cashmere jumpers as I'm sick of itching away in my lambswool. When would they have sales of winter knitwear?0 -
Usually in July and you get last years stock but that's OK! We've just been sale shopping for some maternity wear for DD1 and most of what is in the sales lightweight stuff but that's fine as she can wear them right through the spring and early summer. We did get her one jumper but it's not a winter weight one.0

Oh god lol I'll be frozen to an ice lolly if I wait until July. TY Mrs L !0
