silver-oldie, it doesn't much matter who your dil's comments were made to. The fact that they were made at all is enough. You have come out into the open now and at least she knows that you know. I think the likelihood now is that she will do her level best to persuade everyone, starting with your DS, that you have made up this story and must be going crazy. Be prepared for that. She will go down protesting her innocence.
At least she knows now why you are reluctant to visit at Chistmas. I hope you manage to see your dgs though.
Welcome back 1950smum. Let us know how you are getting on. I seem to remember that you moved out of a caravan and left your husband. Am I talking about the right person?
I am only posting sporadically at the moment as I'm about to move house, before Christmas I hope. Between moving and Christmas and everyday life time is a bit short.
Nursemaggie, it must make life very difficult with arthritic hands. We're you thinking of making Christmas gifts? If so, homemade cookies and cakes make marvellous presents.
Last year, fir all the men I bought some cheap, attractive cake tins and made their favourite cakes to go in them. I even managed to make vegan brownies for the vegan. They were very well feceived.
The year before I bought some storage jars from Tesc*s and filled them with HM biscuits. They went down well too.
Sorry to hear you have not been well Polly. Hope you are feeling better soon.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I noticed that quite a few shops had gone under in the past year Nursemaggie. And some of them surprised me, wouldn't have thought a pound shop would struggle.
It's just after 4am and I'm awake, jetlag is hitting hard.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
It's Not my arthritis monna it's a side effect of my cancer medication it makes my hands go very bright red and they feel like I have grazed them falling off a bike or something. It makes holding anything hard very difficult and painful. Thank God I don't have it all the time.
I just have white hands at the moment because I am cold. I better go put on a warmer jumper.
softstuff I think it was the type of stuff they sold some of them were twice the price in other shops. They just waited too long to put prices up enough to make a profit.
Do you think the jet lag is worse when you get home because you know you have so much to do in not a lot of time. I think you are having a double dose. A bit like when someone is ill and you keep going and collapse when they are better. Any chance of you working less this week?0 -
Thank you for the well wishes Monna . I can't believe I missed the news of the house move . How we've all sent positive vibes , prayers, hope and much candlelight your way and typically I'm late to the party once again . I can't express how much it fills me with joy ( pun intended
) Myself and youngest wish you a happy new chapter in your life . I've racked the old inconvenient memory and I think you may be right about 1950sMUM . Mind you fibro fog isn't helping but it's a good excuse if I'm wrong .
NM Over the years 3 £ type shops appeared in the nearest town . The original one was the most famous and I used to buy the Charlie Dimmock garden range there Also some Jane Asher baking bits and bobs . Haven't been in there until last month and it was just rubbish and looked about to close down . One of the other 2 has closed for good and the other is the one which has now reopened same owner different name . We were in that shop on the day it first closed down unaware they were working the day on no pay until closing time . DD remarked the young lad on the till looked very down and it was only the following day it became obvious why .
I know they can be a god send to many but I don't agree with their treatment of staff and as always vote with my feet .
I've just ended my long history with Next . I've done it before over treatment of the sewers abroad which did lead to a backlash and change . I saw the opinion of the owner earlier today on his take on a fair wage . Reckon I've bought my last pair of jeans from there which is sad as I have good friends in our local branch .

There but for fortune go you and I.0 -

Enjoy ... I'm going to be over near you in a couple of weeks. Just finalising my itinerary (it's a 3.5 day trip, so I think more travel than work time...) but I may have some free time on the day I arriveI'll definitely have jet lag, although I'm not sure where it'll be as I'll have been in the US, then home for 24 hours before flying out. So frankly I think I'll just be confused!

I think I worked pretty hard when in England, came home and zonked. Though I do always tend to be worse in this direction than the other.
As for working less, I may be working more. Went in today and the boss is off sick! I'm only supposed to be on a short week, so we'll see if she's in tomorrow.Enjoy ... how near is near? Close enough for dinner?Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Goodness, what a grey, wet morning! I'd planned a trip to the nearest stockist of the only shampoo that doesn't upset my scalp (Softstuff knows which one
), and to a shoe shop in the same place which stocks a particular brand of slippers that don't make my feet hurt, but perhaps I'll leave it a day or two....
It's meant to be dry this afternoon, but I have something else to do then; a pre-op assessment by telephone! It does sound odd, but it's for my second cataract operation, and everything else has been already done at the follow-up appointment for the first eye so I suppose they just need to check whether i'm on any new medication, for example.
I've been catching up on the Kondo thread, which is inspiring as always
DS said he'd heard the kitten crashing around in the kitchen late last night so i came down expecting to find a scene of destruction, but all I found was the kitchen towel on the floor. He did knock my glass of water over yesterday, and pull the net curtain down the day before, so perhaps he thought we deserved a breakHe's still at the stage where he hurtles around the house like a mad thing, then suddenly falls asleep. He'll grow out of it!
ETA Oh poor greenbee,, having to go all that way for such a short stay :eek:0 -

Would anyone help me with joining this please, I'm not very techy.
I think I tried to join ages ago but didn't get very far,
I seem to have joined something called Proboard then seem to be waiting for someone to join me, or do I have to activate something?
I think I only got this far before though so maybe I'm doing something wrong (not unusual lol)0 -
You should have had a round the world ticket Softstuff and then the jet lag wouldn't be nearly so bad
It's the going east that's tough. As I'll only be stopping off for 24 hours after my US central time trip (I really should have carried out going west, but the temperatures will be so different I need to come home and do some laundry and swap suitcases) I'm either going to have the worst jet lag ever when I arrive or everything will have given up.
I'll PM you Softstuff ...0
