On the upside, I have a spreadsheet with my pots on them and this time next year, we should/will be in a better position to pay things.
I don't think we'd be able to pay a lot of things in full BUT we could pay some bits at least half in one go, so that would be better than scrimping along.0 -
It was my mission to pay at least the house insurance in full this year but it didn't happenand I'm so annoyed as it would have been cheaper. That's my plan now to finally put away those pots of money for next year. On the plus side I've been saving £2 coins for Xmas and ds counted it the other day and we have £285 so far!!!!!0

That's my aim for next year too, I should hopefully have enough for both car taxes too.0 -
All sounds good
I must say, of all my debts, not having an overdraft is the hugest weight off my shoulders. I look at my account and know that all the money is mine, even if it only stays there 5 minutes!"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0 -

My thoughts exactly, DH sees the OD as just the fees, he understands that its the banks money and that it can be recalled any time but he's not worried. I on the other hand want it gone or at least £2000 of it so that it's our money and not the bank owning it.0 -

I don't wish to be pedantic, but how do you manage to have £285 in £2 coins....?August 2018: Secured Debt £70,003 Unsecured Debt (DMP) £34,657 Total £104,660 DFD: March 2031

Yep, completely with you on this one. When i got paid, the overdraft reduced and then crept up to the limit over the course of the month.
Now when I get paid, my bank balance is a positive figure and creeps down to zero over the course of the month.

I will reduce it albeit gradually and I will be building up the pots as I go along. Once the pots are firmly established and working as they used to in the past, I can keep a better control of the finances.
I am happy to have the £750 of the OD remaining, just as a back up, but will have the money for it to one side to clear it, if it gets used.0 -

I am away at Center Parcs this weekend for a long weekend and I am going to use the time to rest and gather my thoughts for the coming months and to spend the time having some fun with the kids and DH.
Food wise, we have meals cooked ready and in the freezer, just need to get them out and I need to do a small shop in the morning for bits and bobs to take with us.
August has been a bit of a wake up call in terms of the finances and knowing what I/we can achieve to get sorted has reignited my enthusiasm.
I have got my pots in place now and I know what I am going to do with them. Please badger me, so I keep them going!
Grocery wise, I need to be a bit more on the ball as August was dire, despite the meal planning...it was the top up shops that killed us.
I hit my LTW target and I also hit over my 2018 target, so I am pleased with that. I have aimed for 19 LTW for September and anything else paid from now until the end of the year will be a bonus
Plus the Cap One card has been paid off
Running hasn't happened much over the last few weeks, lack of motivation and tiredness being the key factors.
I'm keen to get September going, it is a four week month so should be doable.
Payday is tomorrow but as we are away, not much will be paid until the Tuesday, so I will do a proper update on the finances side of things then as everything should've settled down properly and I will have an exact figure, so will know my ball point to attack.0
