Pleasures for the last few days:
reading all yours
enjoying the sunshine in the garden over the weekend. We have a blackbird nesting in the bay tree!
Easter roast dinner of turkey crown that has turned into 6 roast dinners, pie with leeks, soup and enough for a sandwich!😊
Out for a proper walk today as I have only been for 2 short walks since the lockdown. Saw a coot’s nest, a Swan’s nest, greylag geese which reminded me our holidays in Crete and generally enjoyed the fresh air and exercise
night all. Keep well 😊😘12 -
Quite a fun filled day today but some major plot twists!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son cycled 25 miles.
3) Hen and allotment OK.
4) Dropped plants off at my sister's back gate. We had a long distance chat about cats present and past (she is thinking of getting one). Mainly about our lovely Barry, who visited us less and less frequently (months between sightings) until finally, he stopped visiting and has not been seen for 7 years.
5) Had a proper go at the raised beds. All weed free and neat now. Noticed the enormous honeysuckle had managed to prise the electricity mains cable from the wall of the house. Honeysuckle 3 x 3 metres hanging entirely off the cable!
6) Bigger son came out to see what I had been doing in the garden then we repaired the gatepost/washing line post that snapped off at ground level the other day.
.
7) Then this happened... This is Barry, behind Joey no-Tail :-)
8) Badminton games
9) Campfire on the allotment until 8pm.
10) Then took honeysuckle down to 1metre which took from 8-10pm!

Wow Frith! what a coincidence.
For yesterday, toughie as woke up a real sour puss and grumpy guts for some reason.
Saw our lovely postie and had a catch up from a distance, she had been in quarantine after a colleague was admitted to hospital.
She brought a parcel for me, not very OS I know but treated myself to some lovely soap and hand cream.
Made butternut squash soup for lunch along with cheese scones.
Sun came out in the afternoon and nice in a sheltered spot so potted on some seedlings.
Evening walk with beloved and small dog.

Good morning ! See if I can write without my specs on...seems I can if the font is on HUGE!Specs are downstairs which is where I slept last night and allowed DD1 a final night of comfort in my bed as she is has been sleeping in the spare bed which is very sparing indeed and more suitable to the eight year old it’s intended for and the occasional sleep over rather than a fully grown adult sleeping (badly) for 3 weeks. She’s off on her travels today which I sincerely hope are safe ones but I do understand why she is going.
yesterday was bright but still chilly . Today looks like more of the same.I made very yummy scones in the morning, and two little cheesecakes to use up cream and cream cheese and chocolate.A few cat feeding trips to mums. She got discharged in the afternoon not because she was ready but because hospital is not a safe place for her to be. And even though I’ve been telling her for weeks she’s in the very high risk category it took the very nice doctor telling her for it to sink in. Sigh!Anyway. She’s home and will need more looking after than before,
met a couple of different friends whilst out walking so quick chats whilst keeping a safe distance. Nice to catch up.Made the nicest macaroni for tea and took a portion round to mums. Had cheesecake later for pudding which was also rather nice ( was topped with mini cream eggs ) I’m at the almost totally over chocolate stage! The most stunning sunset last night . But I missed the sunrise this morning as I was at wrong side ( and level) of house.Have plans to create a (?) temporary veg patch in the back garden . Landscaping last year didn’t allow for it ( nor need for it because of allotment ) but whispers of allotment being closed mean I’d rather have at least something growing, so will probably just have herbs and salads planted. Anyway need to enlist the help of the tall child to help me move sleepers into place.Right! Better get on . Do have a lovely day and stay safe x
DD and Sue I hope everything is okay with you13 -
Morning all - wow Frith that is a coincidence
Mhags - where's DD off to? Glad mum is home.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Supervision went really well. Three chapters submitted and, of course, there are one or two issues but nothing major and still set fair to hand in in two weeks' time.
2. Bike ride after with OH and DS - OH carried on but DS and i rode straight back together. he'd had a counselling session and was quite happy to talk about it. it costs an arm and a leg but the difference in him is tremendous. (OH got a puncture and his saddle pinged off at one point - like a clown car)
3. Many seeds are germinating, despite their age. A few are dragging their heels so we'll see
4. Sourdough with avo and bacon for lunch. one of my faves. Vegetarian chickpea 'thing' for tea.
5. Watched the penultimate "unorthodox" on Netflix. it's really very good indeed.
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
Good morning all,
I had a face on yesterday as well Lainey. I didn't post, I just went and took it out on the weeds in the front garden instead. The small square of grass now looks like lots of squirrels have dug little holes in to hide stuff.
Anyhow, pleasures for yesterday...
Weeding the front garden. I haven't done all of it, I've saved some for today/tomorrow. Our garden bins aren't being collected but if I pace the gardening instead of doing it all at once the stuff at the bottom of the bin dries out and shrinks so there's room at the top.
Had a chat with a neighbour over the back (appropriate distancing obviously). Some of the fence between our gardens has fallen down/collapsed but apparently he has plans for fixing it when lockdown is over. I have offered to go halves on the cost.
The same neighbour's rescue cat (one leg and a tail missing) was in our living room and our cat that has hated every other cat for as long as we've had her let the rescue cat come in. Our cat goes looking for her if the rescue cat isn't around. I can see us needing a cat flap in the new fence. neighbour says we're honoured as the rescue cat is very timid and usually avoids people.
The HT was slightly more enthusiastic about meals. He's not that interested in food and would eat the same thing for every lunch and every dinner if I'd let him. It makes cooking less than interesting. When he shows an interest it makes me feel like the effort of shopping, storing, preparing and cooking his meals is actually worthwhile.
The back garden still looks lovely. Neat and tidy, no weeds and the solar fountain is working. Flowers are starting to appear where they're supposed to and the HT and I have been taking our afternoon tea break outside. It almost makes up for the state of my (very small hence why I don't bother with it as much) front garden.
Take care all of you and stay safe10 -
Good afternoon
Dfv - What an amazing post. Epic even by your standards. Thank you
BoP - Did you go to the streetcar museum in San Francisco? My DH loved it.
Mhagster - Glad your mum is back home and listening to advice from someone.
VJ's mum - I'm enjoying Unorthodox too. I knew absolutely nothing about Hasidic Jews before, except that a very kind one gave us directions when we were lost in New York
I 've actually been on a walk today. I'm not very good at going for a walk without a purpose. Even buying a newspaper will do but today I went on a pointless walk and enjoyed it. I 'met' , at a safe distance, two friends I haven't seen for ages , and enjoyed across the road chats. Saw lots of people gardening, painting gates, cleaning drives. Everything will be so swish at the end of all this!
Enjoying baking now I've got all the ingredients in the same place at the same time. Pleased to be able to share some with a neighbour who lives on his own.
Started spraying the drive with some cleaning stuff but it's going to take for ever so I think I'll decant it into the watering can. It will use more,I guess, but at least I should finish before lockdown is over!
Happy 🌞 day ( Wednesday?)

Hello. A rather productive day.Dropped DD1 off at train station. Au revoir.Went to M&S because we were in town anyway! Seriously the best service received so far...move over Tesco! Would you like a trolley or basket and I shall clean it for you before you actually have to touch it! And then the very nice lady on the till gave us several boxes of the little seeds.Home and the son and I made a veg patch. Will paint it tomorrow to match rest of fence/beds then get planting, it’s not big but sufficient for what I want it for ( salads and herbs)
then we went to allotment. I planted potatoes and picked some rhubarb then a nice chap said would you like some of mine as he had loads. So dropped some off at two friends doorsteps. Son filled the car up with logs from a fallen tree.Cleared out our log/potting shed at home. Have enough for about 8 fires. But hope don’t really need to use fire too much!Made rather yummy BLT in very nice ciabatta rolls and made some potato wedges and salad.
DD1 got to her destination safely.Dog has finished meds and collar is off! Hurrah. Did a couple of little walks today.13 -
Pleasures today ......
A quiet shopping session, got most of what I wanted including a reduced price organic dark chocolate Easter egg.
Sorting out fridge whilst putting shopping away. I do love an orderly fridge.
Practising choir songs, I am running through the repertoire and practising three songs a day.
Lying in the sun in the garden, such beautiful weather.
The crab apple is now in blossom.
Music on Classic FM as I get ready for sleep. Have to disturb two cats first.
One life - your life - live it!13
