Good evening all, pleasures for yesterday......
HT had a check up at the dentists - all is well, no action required
HT was also persuaded to go for a haircut - he can almost see out from behind his fringe now
Called in to see friend at the cafe where the HT did his work experience. Friend unexpectedly busy so swamped. I washed dishes and HT ran food until order was restored amd extra staff member obtained. We had a coffee each on the house
Home for tea, happy that we'd done good.
Back to cafe with food for friend's only staff member as he'd been called in early and hadn't eaten. There is food in the cafe obviously but he'd nearly melted into a puddle at the thought of the HT's meal, so we saved him some and took it in. I washed dishes again (it's a late opener and popular in school holidays) and HT ran food and drinks until order was yet again restored. Home not too late and happy that we'd helped a friend.10 -
Hello. I’ve came to the coolness of upstairs as it’s boiling downstairs with fire a-roaring!Well the day didn’t turn out as planned.Up early. Quick doggy walk. Potter. Potter. Chat to DD1. One week till her world travels start. Then the joiner who was supposed to come at 2pm messaged at 11.55am to see if he could pop in now. ( need a new window and would like a new front door) No, as I’m just going out. Well can I pop brochures in and give you a quote on weekend ? Okay. So off I went in the car down the main road and then saw his van coming out a side street heading towards mine, so went round the round and drove back up. Quick chat. Threw brochures onto passenger seat and then ppppft. Nothing . Car wouldn’t start. Waved him down ( pouring rain. Hooly blowing ) He tried. Car not starting. With the help of the postman we managed to push it down the street and it started. Rain still pouring, wind still blowing.I was supposed to have been picking up the mother who was not happy at this ( even though I was standing soaking and windswept)So ended up having to go to car garage and thank goodness for the kindest mechanic who squeezed us in . He’s put in a new battery and thinks that’s all it was.DD2 ( poorly soul) had followed me down and we went to optician as she had contact lenses to collect and I had a broken pair of specs. Sitting waiting and realise my finger nails were filthy from pushing the car! Nice chap fixed my specs. And tightened the spare pair.Bought two apple trees for my garden. Shall plant them in honour or DFV boyo 💙Home. Hello doggy, I’m so pleased to see you too.Had a fried egg on toast for me tea!13

DfV, feels a bit special when I appear in one of your posts, and I womble off to look up simnel cake, and those cawli hash browns are going to have to be tried.
1 More mixing it up with the furry ones they love having access to unusual places it keeps them a bit happier.
2 More hoovering and mopping up a pleasure it’s done again.
3 Plans made for tomorrow.
4 Made a phone call for a refund, always a pleasure.
5 Aww it’s 17 years since dh and I told each other how we felt. aww, we need to keep within budget so it is a celebratory from freezer to oven pizza and it was a lot better than I thought.

Indeed dfv you have a lovely way of making us all feel special.
I think i might be almost getting used to the new forum. i like that people can now add pictures (i know bop could his trains but i never could!) and tonight having been awol a few days when i opened the page it opened where i had last got up to. I hope people are coping with the weather. it's been very blustery and wet here today.
1) treating myself to a day bus ticket on way to work
2) very nice soup made from veg, watered down gravy i'd made misreading 4 tsps as 4 tbsps lol, and left over hummous
3) getting bus home at 3:30 and walking the dogs in the light. i also gave them half supper
4) catching bus to city campus work and catching up on some emails
5) then Smile at the theatre. Very very funny. Only an hour long, caught bus home (though got wet feet on the way to the bus stop), dogs got other half of their supper and we were all in bed by 9, though may now go get a cuppa now i've dried outMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good Morning Folks,
DfV: Thank you for the link to Tesler article. Such a visionary!Yesterday.......
1. We have been given beds for the spare bedroom. DH and his friend spent the morning, collecting and building them. Then DS2 helped DH build new chest of draws. Making progress.2. Spent the morning EBaying. Now have 60 listings. (Also, another bag for the CS in the back of the car).
3. Doggy had a check up, and is progressing well.
4. Simple dinner of bacon chops, (rescued from the pack of cooking bacon), French fries and egg and peas. (Still persevering with Frugal February 🤣).
5. Plan hatched to pay for donated beds, by inviting everyone for Chinese meal tonight. DD cheered at the thought. This is rare at the moment. ☹️Have a lovely day 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)
We have more in common than that which divides us. (Jo Cox)12 -

Some recent pleasures
Obviously the mention from DfV!
Being surrounded only by nice people yesterday after a death threat the night before. Not what I expected when I became a councillor but hey ho there are some strange folk around.
A lovely walk with the dogs yesterday. We all got quite muddy.
Paid stuff went well considering I was on my own during half term.
Someone remembering my name. This is important as I quite often feel like an invisible 50-something these days and the person was young. Unfortunately I don't know their name yet but I will find out.Spend less now, work less later.11 -
Ooh those cauli has browns look good DFV, ashamed to say mine were of the ready made variety but will certainly try that recipe.
Totally agree on ER &, they are not disrupting big business in anyway just making life difficult for the ordinary folk of the city 😡
For yesterday,
Quick trip out to the yard, hello horsey.
Dropped into farm shop on way home to pick up doz eggs as my usual man didn’t have any.
Into said Uni City for haircut, lots of munchkins around as half term and salon was certainly quieter when they left. Chatted about all things footie with hairdresser.
Several hours proving in the boiler cupboard had risen current batch of bread dough to top of large bowl, knocked back and baked, seems ok.
The days are lengthening rapidly now, beloved home in the daylight.

What a week full of lovely family and laughter and hugses!
Thursdays visit from DD2 with the grandpickles is still a pleasure in memory, the baby in particular was so very cute.
Visit from DD1 with the female grandpoickle who was on really good form and can sit up on her own now. DD stayed late to see me after my afternoon in the shop too and was still here when I got back, unexpected pleasure but lovely.
Sunshine from outside shining on the ceiling here under the skylight, most lifting of spirits.
We're actually able to get out and about again as the waters have subsided and roads are now passable so we're going for a visit somewhere today (as yet undecided) for a change of scenery.
More 6 nations to watch and a Steam Train programme (series to follow) recorded last night to watch too. Nothing quite like a steamer is there?
