Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) A lie in.
2) Tidied up - washing, floors steamed etc.
3) Hens OK.
4) Smaller son and I had our 15th annual Valentine's Day tea at Ikea.
5) Bigger son is back with 3.5 tonnes of washing.
6) Watching the Last Leg.
7) Had an email from County today which might be something positive about smaller son's schooling (or lack thereof, since May last year). Had another email from the SEND solicitors saying he/I am entitled to legal aid to get things moving, but they have to many clients to take him on.
A difficult day for my brother who knew there was more alcohol hidden somewhere in the house (30+ bottles found this year). This time, found stowed in mum's piano. Worrying, but at least inventive.

hello all
spoke to my Mum today who at 77 years old got lost when she was desperately trying to deliver food to a man who used to do garden/handyman types of jobs for her. He is in his late thirties but had an operation on his back and then because of other complications has severe respiratory problems. To top that his landlord has decided to give him notice to leave even though the council tried to intervene to help him. The story is much longer but the absolute greed of some people is astounding. My pleasure once again is seeing the breadth and depth of my Mum's kindness. My sister-in-law managed to deliver the bags of food and the home made soup. The kindness continues.
Tiggy had her first walk with my vet taxi man. I am away next week helping my Dad close down his shop so have scrimped to have Tiggy walked daily next week. Allegedly she was as good as gold and socialised calmly with the other dogs. Was a little worried as when I rescued her 9 years ago she lived in her own world having been in a cage most of her life. It took me a good year just to convince her that food will be given every day. And just as long to socialise her with us. She remains possesive of me and follows me everywhere. Even to the loo !
Normally after a walk she has a nap but today I swear I saw her thinking about the options life had just thrown her way....... ;-)
It's always wonderful to read your posts so thank you.

Had a good day.
1. Lovely sunrise.
2. Met a friend for coffee. Had a good catch up as hadn't seen her in a while.
3. Enjoyed watching rugby in tv - a good match despite the weather conditions.
4. My daffodils still looking good.
5. Talking with DS1.14 -
Morning all. Some pleasures for this week.
Being back on these threads which I actually quite like. The layout suits me on my iPad.
Getting together with friends for a belly laugh.
The kindness shown to me at work when I was taken ill . They even arranged and paid for a taxi to get me home as I couldn't drive.
Brilliant fun at a tech presentation I gave. Love it when the audience really want to participate. More belly laughs.
Being given permission to challenge a government paper. Oh, the joys of being a councillor.
Lovely flowers, and food as usual, from my gorgeous DH.
My lovely DD taking the dogs for the weekend so I can just rest and recover.Spend less now, work less later.15 -
For yesterday,
A card from beloved that brought a tear to my eye, he is not a gushy romantic at any stretch but wonderfully articulate in my cards.
Doing my ironing and noticing that a stain is now more or less unnoticeable on a favourite sweatshirt, it was curry sauce so thought past redemption.
Dropped into village to pick up mags and chocs for visit to middle niece, she is recovering from op and it was lovely to spend a couple of hours chatting, just the two of us.
Making bread in the kitchen, I fear that one day the arthritis in my hands will prohibit hand kneading but for now it’s so cathartic.
Very tasty tea of mussels in white wine and cream accompanied by HM bread, followed by an emporium made choc torte.13 -
Homegrown veg at this time of year (leeks from the allotment) for the vitamin content always makes me happy.
Pictures of my granddaughter with her mum and dad at the rugby last night, wearing daddys waxed cap to keep her face dry. Apparently she was fascinated by it all and loved the men running round chasing a ball on the pitch! a fan at 4 1/2 months old I think!
Being warm and dry and indoors while it's raining as hard as it is at the moment outside.
Home cooking, I've just made a massive pan of leek and potato soup for our lunches for a few days and I just love cooking, it fulfils something basic in my soul.
My online friends who are almost family and in some cases actually are, sadly we always loose some along the way that we've helped and supported in the past to a fairly large degree, most times without actually knowing why but Hey Ho those left are fabulous and make me happy!

Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday.....
Last day of HT's work experience and a glowing reference obtained by him
Work was busy enough but not mad
Messaging a friend from primary school - we're going for coffee on Monday. I lost touch with a lot of my friends as my mum and dad moved to London just as I finished secondary school. There was nothing like the technology available today so I only wrote to one or two. One of the lads has set up a facebook page and we're all busy posting school photos and doing the "who remembers" stuff too.
We were going to go out for tea to celebrate the HT finishing work experience but we both decided we'd rather be at home. Mac'n'cheese and garlic bread, yum.
Chatting to best friend. I was tired and a bit out of sorts to start with but a good natter about life in general later I felt much better.11 -
