Thirty days has September, April, June and November
Unless a leap year is its fate, February has twenty-eight
All the rest have three days more
Excepting January, which has six thousand, one hunderd and eighty four!
That's Brian Bilston - he's all over twitter and FB, excellent little ditties he writes. His 'let's jump off a cliff' is fabulous for those of like mind, given the date...:rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Lainey have you seen the facebook clip from the American Cob Society? We were crying laughing....

Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday
Sewed a new fastener onto the cape that I bought from a charity shop. It looks lovely.I've always wanted a cape and now I have one.
Cleaned upstairs and decontaminated the HT's bedroom.
Contacted the deputy head at HT's school as HT is still having problems with maths (dyscalculia and no help from school). Very quick reply and we have a meeting next week.
Quick visit to craft shop for supplied for a further project as project number one is nearly finished. Project one (a crochet throw) is also too big to take out and about now, so I have started project number three (number two is a throw for me so tends to be sidelined in favour of stuff for other people). Number three is also a throw. Very handy to work on in cooler weather as once they're a decent size they keep you warm as you work.
Couple of hours before bed working on project one and Elvis concert on youtube. I like most music but yesterday felt like an Elvis day.
DfV Ironing satisfaction is complex. I like the tidiness and I like when it's finished. I also like knowing that the HT is school ready with all uniform prepared so no last minute panics0 -
Time spent with the Grandpickles over the past few days, it was a really happy time.
Newest pickle has turned into a real little person and is an absolute sweetie.
Lovely chats with their mum and some really good 'family time' with her.
Trains on time yesterday and as luck would have it a work colleague that I get on with really well was at the bus depot when I got there and we nattered through the 45 minute wait for the next bus and all the way home!
Being home, dear old HWK walked down to meet me from the bus, made tea, lit the stove, had bought cake from the bakery and then told me he'd driven the car for the first time since his operation and was feeling fine so that's another thing put to rights. Good nights sleep not waking until 7.30 this morning, house now clean and tidy, washing in the machine and a stew in the slow cooker for supper, have showered and am warm and comfy again so it's all in hand again which is good!0 -
No pleasures today really as I has to pay the taxman far too many pennies. Does he deserve it? Not even happy at paying a bill for next year on their guesstimate and I will have to wait a year for the robber to pay it back. He should swing for it.
Still not happy is BoP
Now onto more happenings inn your version of the Life of BoP!
Outs this eve inn tow, on the big train not from Warster. One stop and inn too the Thai. Wobbelades will be consumed, food eaten and BoPsie more than tickled.
On that, maybe a late snorker feast inn the morning as well.
This Saturday BoP is inn to the barbas for his grooming again. Trimmed and I has too still pay full price.
Raffles for some reason on his morning fooding has decided that under the beds is the plaice to run and dab. We pay his veterinary bills!
Robbed Peter and don’t want to pay Paul!0 -
Ha ha ha :rotfl: Cranky that is brilliant and thanks for sharing X
A few hands higher and that could easily be the beautiful grey one, she has much the same attitude towards eating as well!0 -
Yesterday:
Woke up early and Lurgy was gone. No more shivers or temp, headache gone, just normal aches and pains of elderly grannie. That took 5 days, all the naps and vitamin C and D must help.
Did weekly shop at nearest supermarket, got lots of veggies, and bunch of lilies which we will watch opening slowly in the warmth.
Managed to get just the wool I wanted at local chazzer, making slipper socks for family for next winter. I use double thread, and like to use a variety of combinations, so no 2 pairs the same.
Can't believe how fast the bulbs in the garden are advancing.
Had a nice (quick) walk with Doggie when a patch of sunshine and blue sky appeared. Lots of noisy geese and swans flying over, they must be courting as they seem very irritable with each other.
Frith we have trouble here with Shropshire Council granting planning permission for the most inappropriate building, in fields which flood every year, with protected flora and fauna, trees, ponds, hedges. Builders promise all kinds of protection for the environment, then proceed to cause havoc. Council must build a certain number of residences, don't seem to care what they destroy or frighten off.
They are building (50 houses!) at the end of our road, when we went to look at the show house in the spring, a baby barn owl sat on the wire fence at the back, looking so bewildered in the sunshine, his field bulldozed, his hedge chopped. If they gave the houses more space they could have trees and hedges to support local wildlife, but they are so close together, barely space to park cars (minimal bus service here). We need houses for people to live, but something very wrong with the way they are being built amid a constant battle between council/builders/locals/pressure groups to maintain balance.0 -

1) heating is still off at work so we've all been going round in coats. the good news is i had no guilt in coming home to work after my last meeting this morning
2) lunch was scrumptious and very mse - a pot of m&S mushroom pate left over from a church meeting stirred into pasta, slightly wrinkling mushrooms and green beans. omg sooooo good
3) now eating veggie soup with a spoon full of hummous stirred in and a couple of slices of chorizo chopped in. The latter two are courtesy of...
4) ds and gf who moved out today left tempting los in the fridge. i'm going to enjoy those
5) friend's bf is away so he is free for an evening in my local hostelry. thought that'd get your attention bop workwise i saved my abstract half way through and they seem to have extended the deadline - was 17th jan then 31st jan but now seems to be 3rd feb. so submission will be delayed. the irony is the paper is on how introducing strict deadlines improves student experience and outcomes :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello. And the working week ( for what it is) ‘tis over. Hurrah! Sore back, hips and as an added pain bonus feet. Little painful twinges of plantar fasciitis. Anyway it’s done. Pain will have eased off by the time I go back!
Crazy busy morning ! Waaah! But was working with DD2 who I don’t normally work with but quite like when I do.
Good tips for morning part of shift ( we split them when next person comes in ) and okay for afternoon. All popped into jam jar when I got home.
Son had leftovers from work for his tea...I went to the chippy for mine.
Fire is a-roaring. Need to order more logs.
Daughter’s friend kindly popped in to let H out at lunchtime and kindly sent videos. I don’t normally work a Friday so it’s never usually an issue.
Lovely sunsetty sky as I walked doggy. Streaks of pink through the darkening sky.
Niecelys popped in ever so briefly.
Hurrah for vegetarian January being over. But I did it! Waaah to sugar free February!
Cranky I ( up until a year or so ago) always ironed, couldn’t understand why people didn’t...then became a person who didn’t. When OH was first ill I had this thing for school shirts all needing ironed ( when actually they were under a jumper and I would have got away ) as a way of staying in control of a situation...and two years ago today was the first time in 18 years I didn’t have to wash/iron school uniform!
Hot shower and jammies on and just had a moisturising foot pack thingy on my feet ( freaking out my son! ) . Wild and windy here so I’m glad I’m in for the night ( I’m currently trying to persuade him to go to supermarket for chocolate for me as it’s still January!)
Have a lovely weekend:)0 -
Well, tomorrow the campaign to re-join the EU can start...
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Amazingly, hen still alive this morning. Left her with food and water.
3) Psychologist came for second appointment with smaller son. The aim being to get him some sort of post 16 education when nothing is offered to those with autism but capable of taking exams in this county... She is starting to see the problem. What are college doing about it? Nothing. What are county doing about it? Ignoring me. She is going to make phone calls. What counselling is he having after his treatment at the hands of high school and staying in bed since June. Erm, none... He has never had any input from anyone.
I'm used to the autism bit and the poor fine motor control bit and the urological/gastric/allergy/behavioural bits. There is something about the learning difficulties bits that I find disheartening. His scores were a bit below average for English today and well below for maths. It just sounds a bit rude to say so!
4) Popped to Tesco then had to pop home in haste as bigger son's friend's dad texted to say he was on the way to mend the shower! New hose and all working again - £30. He only ever charges me £20 for the work then the cost of the parts.
5) Bigger son texted at length that he is not enjoying working at the Wales site so much (the colleagues, not Wales!) so is coming home tomorrow until Sunday.
6) Watched the Last Leg.
7) Brother came up briefly for board games.
8) Sister's kitchen is not finished, but is in situ. Bits of tiling etc to do and the floor going in next week.1
