We always need volunteers Bala…..
Nice thing to add to this morning is that the nice lady I met on the bus on Saturday DID come to visit the shop this morning and say hello and she's coming next Monday when I'm in so we can fix a day to go for coffee together, isn't that lovely?0 -
It's wonderful, marvelous...............
(am singing to you)

I HAVE A GOLD STAR and A MEDAL and a Title !0 -
Hello. I’ve actually had to take my jumper off as the fire is so roasty!
Fourth night in a row of sleep.
Up early as stuff to do at home before heading out. Laundry. Hoover. Floor washed.
Did a mini bird watch with H next to me glowering at them! Sparrows, starlings, my robin and two crows. I occasionally get blue tits and a wren but not this morning though I see them out and about as I dog walk.
Walked to mums blooming freezing. Huge list of stuff to be done. Phone calls made. Emails sent. Waited for a chap ...was there from 9.30 he came at 12.
Then just before I would have left ,niece had text to see if I was home as she would pop in so she popped into see her gran instead. So that curtailed my leaving. But I nabbed a lift home via supermarket .
The baby enjoyed his toast and H waited nicely for the crusts!
Daffodils. My favourite flower.
They left, dog and I snuggled on sofa and I finished my library book.
Made a vegetarian pie. This was not a successful meal though I persevered
and ate it! I’m so over my challenge but a challenge it is! Three more days to go!
I managed to light the fire...and then son came home and made it a better fire than it was! I’m still rather crappy at firelighting!
Snow is forecast overnight so we shall see what we wake to.0 -
Good evening all, yesterdays pleasures....
Good sleep so not as tired as I was on Saturday
Ironing completed in it's entirety before I had to leave for work
Work was busy and ok - went in smiling and came out smiling
Roast chicken dinner - yum! a lot of my pleasures seem to be food related. Given that I work in a kitchen so there's a lot of food related talk in every work shift, I probably shouldn't be surprised.
Online gaming time with best friend. It's a couple of hours with adult company without having to leave the house or accomodate visitors
Todays pleasures (seeing as I've come late to this today)
Food shopping done and under budget. I will be using stuff from the freezer this week as the freezer is fulltherefore mostly fresh stuff and cat food bought.
Lunch with my aunty - she wasn't well today (COPD and chest infection) so I took lunch to her instead of us going out. Broccoli soup and cream cakes
Seeing my aunty laughing at the Swedish chef muppet sketch "Popcorn". I've seen it so many times and it still makes me laugh.
Liberating some turkey mince from the freezer and actually making something with it (Thai turkey dipping balls - see what I mean about food?).
Making brownies for the HT and getting them exactly right. Not liquid and not cake - somewhere gloriously inbetween.
Whilst I was waiting on things that were in the oven I cleaned the fridge and the water filter tank that I keep in there. I also rearranged the things in the fridge so that I can see what we have more easily so that was an extra pleasure that came about because of the others.
DfV if anyone can "learn to go on" you can. It's not easy and there's so many "firsts" to face. I wish you strength and courage while you journey.
Mhags cyber hugs for your attack of the griefs. Ten years on I'm mostly ok but even now I have "what if" days here and there.0 -
(((hugs))) to all. 'what if days' indeed cranky40
nuff said bop who needs footie anyways?! we have derby tomorrow
shelford ladies & blast from the past
For Sunday
1) Eucharist celebrated by lovely priest up from 'the other St Pauls'. We sang happy birthday to mum at the end
2) gbf came round. he's been diagnosed with angina, on meds and had to 'test them out'. eek. checked my phone was charged and we went for a long walk starting with my very steep hill (which is also in the direction of the hospital, just in case!) meds worked phew
3) he gave me a lift back to church 90 minutes early for choral evensong so i made a big start on sorting out the sunday school room
4) bishop put his head round the door (when the room was an absolute tip of course). he agreed it would be lovely to bless the room when it's sorted (i'm hoping that might stop people using it as a dumping ground!)
5) Visiting priest (who was originally at neighbouring church) was made a canon by the bish. lovely service with augmented choir. They sang psalm 150 which we always sang end of the school term.
and for today
1) skype from the comfort of my bed
2) lovely fresh walk into work
3) and another through the arboretum at lunch time
4) and another home - had nice long phone call with dad. thank goodness for thinsulate gloves!
5) just home and dd2 phoned - would i like to walk down to meet her with the dogs. so that's 17648 steps despite spending an awful lot of the day sat at my deskMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

DfV - I hope a "well done" doesn't sound too flippant but I don't know how else to say it. So well done on the sorting, planning and all the rest.
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) 2 hens OK, one ruffled up with her third eyelids shut :-( I will be surprised if she is still going in the morning. Only 18 months out of the battery farm.
3) A very busy few hours at the museum. Emergency plans nearly done. 9 people replied to my email asking for volunteers, which I was very pleased about. Said a few things that need doing (cringing as I did so) and they will all be done (!) So looking at 2 more policies this evening.
4) Bigger son has not gone to France today! He might go next week or the week after. He's slightly peeved. He might go to another of their UK places in the meantime. He has been put forward to do some proper (rather than in-house) water sport qualifications, so that'll be good.
5) Nice salmon for tea.0 -
Another one here who seems to have lost a post from the weekend.
1 Our little animal goes in for his massive op tomorrow, he’s 9 which is a great age and a great life, but we are greedy and would desperately like a good outcome, needless to say there’s all sorts of candle lighting, prayers and whatever we need to do to hope.
2 We are both sitting here reading which is odd, I read a vast amount and I’ve actually found a book to get OH interested it’s the Adam Savage one and it’s also great to see.
3 Various house things done, oven cleaning, animal washing, meal planning.
4 Reading your posts made me crave a hot chocolate, which has just been snaffled.

DfV I have been reading & smiling & crying along with you. Giving you hugs & any strength I have. It is 2 years this week since DM passed away suddenly whilst on holiday with DF and it has certainly been a journey to get here today but just wanted to say you have done your lad proud.
A very good friend gave me a link to this poem which I hope you don’t mind if I share but after the grief and rage it gave me comfort and still does.
We each deal with the loss in our own way but you and your lovely family will find your own path together. x

Nice cuddly doggie keeping me company all day
Useful hoard of paracetamol, vitamin C, Fisherman's Friends, handkies, and easy prep foods
DH being very helpful
Several lovely long snoozes through the day0 -
DforV a lovely post. You and your family are in my thoughts.
Suffolksue look after yourself.
1. Bus in time especially grateful as it was raining. We had a double decker not quite sure why.
2. Work happened. Frustrating and left stuff to finish today but if I am expected to do others work I can't complete my own.
3. Picked up my boots from M&S at work. Free delivery there. They fit which is good.
4. DS2 cooked which left me more time to iron!
