Dearie me.
I didn't go into great detail about bigger son's doctor's appointment on Saturday, but I was not impressed. He showed the man his gammy leg then tried to tell him about his sweats and feeling ill but was told it was an emergency appointment so they could only discuss one thing... bearing this in mind...
Pleasures for today (Monday).
1) Good to get up after a disturbed sleep as bigger son still ill.
2) Hens OK.
3) Brother came for board games.
4) Work made contact and I won't start until "at least next week".
5) Got all the washing done.
Lots of washing as bigger son keeps having extreme sweats, very hot then very cold. Horrible fly bite on his leg had gone black in the centre (about 5cm across) since the man "looked at it" on Saturday.
6) All hail the nurse at the emergency appointment at our little local medical centre today. She looked at the gammy leg and went "well, now that's cellulitis" and he is on antibiotics.
Listened about where he had been staying in Nepal, no tap water, the mosquito net, how long he had been home, the sweats that leave the sheets soaking and needing washing...
...got on the phone to a consultant in Tropical Medicine. Got on the internet looking at maps and up to date advice... Said this was something she had not done before...
...and we will be in hospital from 8am tomorrow while they do a blood test for malaria.
7) Smaller son rather looking forward to college tomorrow and will wait for his friend to arrive on a different bus at 8.30 so they can go in together. This level of friendliness is unknown!
8) Going to bed in a minute and will listen to the radio.0 -

Good morning,
My goodness frith! Poor DS1!
First day back at work......
1. Arrived early at conference venue.
2. Greeted by lovely people.
3. Interesting speakers. (Anxious about the prospect of OFSTED after Christmas. Always good to have something to look forward to :rotfl::eek:).
4. Home early as conference venue closer to home.
5. Peaky Blinders.
Awake since early o'clock, looking for videos on H&S to play in my lessons today. Thought we would be off timetable for the first day, but new regime thinks we should be on timetable from 10am. Thanks for the warning :rotfl:
Have a lovely day0 -
dfv you may roll in and out like a sailor but you do it with such style! Love a DFV post...always look to see me long-winded posts reduced to a sentence!
Well,it's Tuesday morning, it's rainy. Work beckons but not for a couple of hours.
Monday came and went and saw me doze off on sofa for last 10 minutes of new TV drama then come to bed and be wide awake.
Work was done 8.30-12.15 then sat for another 20 minutes or so going over some future plans for work.
Home. Quick dog walk. In the rain and in the wind.
I hopefully have a home for the bike jackets. Should be collected next week.
Next to hopefully leave home is a walnut shelving unit. I have other plans for the space it's in. Shelf was part of a package of furniture I'd bought last year second hand.
Made pasta for tea with some chicken and bacon and veg. Was most tasty.
Listening to an Australian podcast. Feeling very 'homesick' just now. Bit unsettled. Miss my friends there. Yet know that life is probably here for now ( much more affordable to me here) anyway it was nice to hear familiar tones of podcaster's voice.
An evening of soap watching then falling asleep for only 10 minutes but the last 10 minutes!
Have a lovely day0 -
Frith. Hope son is diagnosed correctly and given the correct treatment.
1. Had marmalade on toast for breakfast. It was very tasty. I had forgotten how much I liked it.
2. Colleague being concerned about my back when I walked in. My line manager asked whether it was bad when I was due to leave when she saw me doing stretches!!
3. Home grown tomatoes.
4. Tea was good even if DS2 complained that I didn't start it early enough.
5. Enjoyed watching Only Connect.0 -
Will keep everything crossed that it isn’t malaria Frith
Hugs Mhags
Monday pleasures,
A string of racehorses crossing in front of me, beautiful animals still bouncing along on their toes despite coming back from the gallops.
Walking through the emporium’s car park and recognised the very tall, distinguished looking gentleman who was walking towards me, Mr Michael Holding, aka old Whispering Death himself. I asked him if he was looking forward to the next test match and he said very much so ma’am.
Busy day spent mostly running errands and ticking jobs off my list.
Finally finished, sat down with a cuppa and remembered the last piece of tea loaf in the cake tin, rude not to.
Watched Uni Challenge followed by an old episode of the Fast Show, had forgotten just how funny it was.0 -
DFV, more of a figurehead on a ship?
Hope your son is ok Firth.
Mhags, horrible feeling like that. I hope it is temporary.
My 5,
Back to cooking and enjoying my food.Nice eating out but always too much food.
Looking forward to my Sister visiting. I only see her once a year as she lives in Canada and miss her so much.
Things moving at work. I work with a nice bunch. Boss not so. It will be her level that is moving.
My garden, still has colour. Looking for early bulbs for pollen for the bees next spring. Any suggestions please.
Coffee cake Mrs LW. My favourite too. I can see a trip at lunchtime.0 -
DD Put the seat up please!
More of that then. Just had a buck of face thing on the net as old comrade mentioned in the purest terms, not repeatable inn this parish about the wine he had last weakened. It rhymes with a bunker in the game of golf, like bunkered! BoP’s poached egg was splattered on that news!
Now ons with other BoP events.
PM2DD Mariner reject is at the Theatre of Fish this evening! The Scoonts. Should be fun! Minds me that I did put a post up last December they were herding towards the conference! They is on curse! Scunny! Apologies, but I can word who put the T inn Britain, but not the rusty steal town on this parish!
Has I mentioned this weaks lunch box? Full of proper foods! Strawbs, toms, raspberries, cucumber and peppers, with single cheese. Proper and good for yous.
I hears inn the news thing about someone who cannot cook and their child! For crying out loud it is 2019! Not the slums of yesteryear. I suppose my little gran, BoP’s OM granny, who did dripping toasts and ginger puddings, knew better!
Now tonites BoP is inn the gym and then home to cheesed off mushroom and cocoa.
Every step you make is inn the right place.0 -
For yesterday
1 Various people collected bits and bobs today, excess camping equipment we have over the years, only selling for tiny money but moves things on. Any money from it has been put to the vet fund for the animals.
2 It feels like September has arrived with Autumn.
3 So far today, that’s 4 loads of ferret washing hung out on the line.
4 Originally, the kitchen was supposed to be arriving today, the builder said that’s fine etc etc a few weeks ago I gave it thought and said there is no way it can be done so moved it by 2 days without saying I’d done so, even with it arriving Weds it’s looking possible but dubious. Ordering in tonight, all the kitchen work has made us explore different takeaways and it’s the way to go for variety, but not cost. I think if we ever get different house and do the kitchen again, we move into the caravan on the drive while it’s done.
5 DH spent the day replacing floorboards, it’s needed doing for a while. Nice to tick it off the list.0 -
