Oh hello blue skies after the most torrential rain! Please dry the now dripping wet washing!
Rainy morning so took car but only so I could drop off three bags in charity bin and get groceries on way home.
Work 8.30-12.15 . Busy. Chatted to friends for half an hour in way out.
Took the last of the latest crop of courgettes in. They'll be part of a vegetable pasta tomorrow. From 4 seeds came many courgettes!
Popped back in with some RTC flowers for colleague as she was feeling rubbish.
Didn't have to spend too much as past few weeks I've been buying extra and this is my fourth week of doing so. Plenty dog food and loo roll to see out the week I think. I'm going to try and have a savvy September! Going on holiday in a few weeks so want to enjoy that and know I can live simply enough. Try not to waste food and non essential spending. I really don't 'need' anything. Have enough clothes still left in my wardrobe even after a cull!
Home and doggy walk.
Washing out.
Cleaned fridge. And here comes the try not waste food bit! Chucked out stuff that was bought but had gone past its best. Just going to go and chop up some veg for the freezer now.
Phoned sister for a chat.
DD2 came in from work but is now snoozing so not sure what we are doing for tea. Going to sort freezer out. One of friends I was chatting with earlier said she'd love some frozen fruit...freezer is full of it!
When I was a family of 5, OH and DD1 and I rather liked puddings. DD2 & DS don't really ( not fruity ones) so I tend not to make them so much. There a whole orchard of apples at allotment to be picked!
Right! I shall crack on! Have a lovely evening0 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday).
1) A lie in.
2) Hens well and they had some chips and neck of lamb left from last night.
3) Smaller son went to watch his football team.
4) Bigger son was treated promptly at the out of hours when one of his infected Nepalese fly bites suddenly swelled up like half a tennis ball.
5) Managed to 90% fill in smaller son's PIP form. No idea if it is right or not.
6) Had a few board games with smaller son and my brother then watched MOTD.0 -
Good Morning All,
Woke up late this morning. I am finding this cupboard re organisation quite tiring.....physically and emotionally. Still not filled up a charity bag :rotfl:
1. DH has Marie Kondoed his T shirts and Jumpers. He has 2 colour coded and organised drawers, and has edited out the ones that no longer spark joy. I am jealous.
2. Hair cut first thing. (They have put the price up, so I may not be back.).
3. Wizzed around Waities for posh picnic stuff.
4. Old Dears outing to Whitwick Manor with NT card. We have not visited for a few years. (Last time, we seem to remember saying 'Don't touch' a lot. So the children must have been quite small :rotfl:). More of the house is open, and the guides were very chatty. Enjoyed the tour around, and Posh Picnic and pot of tea!
5. Gammon and egg for tea. Always clean plates all round
6. A bit more moving and washing of stuff, but mostly gentle TV watching.......Gone Fishing and Travel Man.....Porto looks interesting.
Last day of freedom
(May be time to be more serious about getting another job...I hate interviews!).
Have a lovely day0 -
Ouch Frith hope eldest is ok now.
Saturday pleasures,
Dippy egg with marmite soldiers.
Made bread and whilst it was proving did some work out in the garden which included planting of winter spinach.
Driving through the village and admired a row of cheery sunflowers standing tall in a garden.
My girlie’s favourite thing of a field groom, there are usually a couple of apples or carrots hidden in my bucket.
A beautiful sunset and then the candles were lit, cosy.0 -
It's September, love autumn best of all the seasons and look forward to the first meteorological day of autumn the whole summer long, today's the DAY!
We're off for coffee to a garden centre this morning, it's the only bit of life that brings back that old Sunday feeling of yesteryear.
DD1s birthday tomorrow so I shall bake a cake today and take it to her when we go over for our Nepalese meal tomorrow evening.
Ripe blackberries everywhere there is bramble growing, so ripe they are falling before they can be picked.
The prospect of a trip to Westonbirt arboretum one day this week, so I can go and wander through the maple glade and see the start of the colour change that is so spectacular each year.0 -

Hello.
To me this is the first day of Autumn ...because in Australia it's the first day of Spring. They change seasons on 1st December/March/June/September so I do too but now in reverse of what it was there.
It's 2.5 years since my lovely husband died on the first day of Autumn in Australia ( though twas a long spell of high 30o days then not so much here) has actually stayed mostly dry with a few heavy showers. I've just put heating on for one hour only to get laundry dried off.
Work was 8.30-12 . In work out.
Home and thought about allotment but saw big black clouds and thought against it however it didn't rain so coulda , woulda , shoulda but just didn't!
Painted pink pallet found outside work a few weeks ago now on my garden fence with Ivy plants hanging down. Hooks put up in painted potting shed.
Hooks put up in laundry room and ever so slightly squeegee which I know is going to annoy me! Son had drill out!
He took old mattress, a TV, an old kids bike to tip. This is all 'stuff' that people had 'kindly' given me but have no need for.
Sorted through a bit more in spare room...seriously who knew there was so much crap!
Have offered three motorcycle jackets of OH to a friend of his ( I've never met but he follows my blog) I'd rather they go to someone who would appreciate them. See what transpires with that.
We three went out for dinner. Its Fathers Day today in Australia. DD1 had been to the beach and had his favourite drink and chocolate bar ( though they're not hers) son and I had a sharing platter thingy which was nice.
Popped into OH best friends for 20 minutes on way home.
Picked a bunch of sweet peas and roses and Veronica from my garden.
Seeing a Robin on my way to and from work...popping out in a just jetting you see where I am kind of way.0 -
Pleasures today-
A lazy lie-in, just because I can.
Walk with dog in the sunshine, even with a bit of a breeze. (Not so much of a pleasure when I started picking up her poop but somehow managed to get some on my fingers.....yeuch!)
Back home, hands washed and scrubbed with lavender Savon de Marseilles - I have a block of it on a pretty second hand plate by the sink, I even grate it to use in home made laundry detergent.
Lunch an experiment which worked out ok - Italian meatballs done in the Remoska, gnocchi (first attempt at making these), salad and cheese and onion bread on the side. Later on tea and home made orange cake.
Friends back from holiday in the Lake District- they brought me a raspberry and rhubarb pie and some double cream from Booth's supermarket.
Finished sorting out my kitchen, getting rid of stuff no longer required. Every item in the kitchen is something that gets used, not just left to fester in a cupboard, and my food cupboard is a work of art. I have even managed to free up some items for a food bank.
Lounging in bed for a while with cat curled up next to me and dog lying under the bed. Just unwinding before settling down for the night - busy shift at work tomorrow. One life - your life - live it!0
