Thankyou all for supportive words and thoughts. Needed. Never quite knowing to what I'll return, go out and find, is edgy - doubtless the aim, but to what end, unclear..
People in various circles of &, witnesses, are now aware on a 'just in case' basis.
Desktop rubberbands cranked to working for this post.
Further call made this morning re:action offered. Updated organisation with Sunday's episode - after baptism, was rushed out at, big verbals, told to move, full-time filming, told I was double-parked[ludicrous], blocking police and emergency vehicles, told 'police will be delighted to see/hear what you're up to now.' In fact, co-habitant had large vehicle up on opposing footpath, outside her address. thus unusable by pedestrians on that side.
Took own pics of this later. Said absolutely nothing, but was pursued, with verbals, up my path.
Concerns are:re-runs of abusive, accusatory screeching, the filming, not knowing what latest ramped-up agenda is actually about, the blocking of my normal access, which today will impede my spits prep.
The emboldened level of pettiness which is their only currency is dangerous, even now includes a plastic garden gnome. bending over, trousers down, directly where I must see it.

I will post away-from-this pleasures[lost post yesterday. dkw]

    1. Thankyou call from this young man [post passim]who is off to Berklee University on Friday morning, flight from Scotland:
    https://www.scotsman.com/health/autistic-dundee-musician-needs-to-raise-8-7k-for-top-us-jazz-tuition-1-4947134
Have just upped my tiny dote from wkly pension to £1-per-day. It will be for 4 years.

    2. Reverbe £5 note on ground,Town of Horse, after another repair, camshaft censor this time. Seems to have fixed things....fingers x'd.

    3. Rumtopfs burgeoning - adding in raspberries as they come now. Hmm, wonder if my repeat visits for rum are noted? :-))) Up to 4 litres now. 3 large decorative Bonne Maman jars came into cs, ready for landfil! NO!!! & will start another 3 berry fruit rumtopfs for crimbo. Figs are coming, at last. 2 on friday. 2 on Monday. Masses on tree.

    4. Finished the crochet jersey for Idris, another dragon going with the Alma Front Row pair to Japan RWC. All guesswork. On verra ce soir - dropping it in Town of Gown tonight when i fuel; up for Spits. Loved 36-0 last Sat. Mrs LW:-))))) It was a solid rugby day at t'Alma - mid-day to 2230h. [ And not here.]

    5. A wonderful big late catch-up call with M, my oldest nthn hemi friend. My beloved France. All spoken about, both ways. She has been phoning The Alma, vicar, everyone as &'s phone apparently not in service. Not so. & repeated mirror talk back. It is hopeless here. & heard ringing, answered, only to be met with staccato msg: 'You... have a...CALL.... from ....M. PLEASE SPEAK...PRESS4 IF YOU DO...DO NOT...WANTHIS....call' Of course I'm answering. Nothing Call back 3 times before nonsense msgs, not in service. no such number etc finally stop. Same every time, but M had been really worried. Are we really both over 70 now? Yes, somehow. Actually we are still both new young mamans in our beloved var, early70s.

Again, thankyou all, especialy those of you with present day cares and struggles. work and private, and grief and memories of all shades, also spilling into next generations.
Wonderful experience for elder son, Frith, reflects so much - and so well on you as parent. Best wishes for those exams.

  • PM2DD Wes on a up and a down and. Oh look Scoooonts still bottom! Did say on another forum outwith the parish last December they were herding towards oblivion! Not that BoP would be chuckling that is. I will say they be herding down the swanny!

Now that BoP is chuckling away like a hyena gone wild, here is your daily BoPcast!

Day 15 already. BoPsie was at quack house yestday. There were loads of quacks there! Nows as yous is aware that BoP gets his bum checked, inn his case every five years because he does eat the right foods, see BoPcasts passim. From this you could ifs yous over 50 get a bag for you number two stools.
BoP after his visit to the hearing quack last weak, has his new noise cancelling ear lug amplifiers. They can cut out selectively! Humane Remains are as easily cut out at the mill in the same weigh as social workers and educationalists!

Talking offs the mill, contract has arrived at last. One hops that the door key works as well! Part of the furniture now!

Offs to the wobbleade emporium tonite from mill. Sampling some, not tasting! More tomorrow. May have a gorilla to go with it.

Nows I thinks that is all the BoPcast for today!

Beat it, on with you whisk!
  • Feeling pants, have picked up a summer cold and have a waterfull nose and red rimmed eyes.....not happy!

Found a 4 tray seed sprouter in the shop for 50p this morning.

Also found a bunny rabbit night light (battery operated) to go in the kiddies room here.

A lovely day yesterday out with DD1 in Cheltenham, just bumbling and having time together.

Had just got home from the shop at lunchtime when I heard the clip clop of horses hooves and two mounted lady police officers on beautiful horses were walking them along the road having got here along the footpath, lovely to see.

HWK has just picked a couple of pounds of gorgeous purple plums from the allotment tree which I've gently poached and they smell gorgeous. It's so nice to have home grown fruit and he also brought home a punnet of mixed blackberries and raspberries too yummy!

Dear me I have left this Far Too Long
Frith - welcome home elder son & all good luck absorbing extra calories & new education - meanwhile o Frith, hang on to such sleep as you can! Huge applause for village show entries, & hoping bus pass paperwork developing positively.
ampersand - appalled that the community is unable to squelch such appalling behaviour & profoundly hoping these unlovely people will be muzzled & confined soon.
Suffolksue - awed love & respect as you face up to these very trying times with WI & Book club
Nargleblast - likewise awed love & respect at you keeping on & hurrah triumph over boiler.
mhagster - oh the Haggis boy does love socks. So glad you have garden coming along & allotment to nourish. Happy anniversary just the same.
DundeeDoll - happy travels to MrPiano & all best with surveyor, ulp.
villagelife - Yeay live rugby! Hoping your feet have stood up to all this culture?!
LaineyT - Kingsguard in the family, eh? Fun! (My soldiers sailors scientists & howling eccentrics Almost as colourful as GRRM.)
BoP - where would we be without your sage advice on reliable nutrition, guidance on the quirks of our mother tongue & of course the care & feeding of Raffles?!
VJsmum - off stewarding again? It does make your own bed so much more comfortable! All the best with the supervision - I take it shoving a latin grammar down your trous will not materially affect the outcome?
MrsLurcherwalker - smitten with a cold? Dash! Still, splendid test of preps & also a reminder that there may be something in the rose hip syrup. (How goes dinosaur collecting?)
Broomstick - hoping that weeks respite has helped you achieve academic miracles as well as all the flat cleaning etc
Purple kitten - hoping you both and ferrets coping. Delighted to hear Unidentified Frozen Objects tasted nice!
MandM90 - a cuddel with cats sounds glorious!
juliettet - line dried bedding & Edinburgh Book Festival <Will Not Turn Kermit Green With Envy> hoping all still a delight?!

OS Pleasures recently [well, last 3 weeks or so - I Really Must try harder]
Managed to get a butterfly out of the shed. Despite spectacular herder-fail last week.

Son & husband happily gawking at the latest Hellboy. They’re drooling over 6 wheel Land Rovers. Me, I’m wondering how come Ian McShane is in almost everything....

Oh the shame. Son (not fully awake) has asked how are the taco people? And then asked about the dam people... I had hoped he could remember Places but not before lunch, seemingly.

Driving over to Wyke saw a truck pulled over & beyond about 20 squaddies tidily sat brewing up. Never have I so wished to have a large tin of biscuits (or, later consideration added, cases of beer) as all too rarely do I see our chaps headed off to wherever they’re sent with a chance to say thank you.

Met my first Martin’s Bank! Much enjoying reading it’s Wikipedia history & intrigued by its archive.

My eco=friendly bamboo toothbrush holder has arrived with relatively little excess plastic wrap & is now holding my eco toothbrush. The Parker jotter biro was in the same post (& same planet-friendly avoiding wasteful plastic intent) so I can try still harder to be green.

Watching Bunraku film - visually spectacular. Beautifully constructed to look at, and with graphic design elements that just sing.

Nearly drizzling at a sign seen in Whalley “keep your Chinook up”... Dear gods, the love & courage of the community.

Godfather happily announced he has an active Queen & therefore his beehive is at last in use. Very happy for him as he’s put years into learning as a volunteer, & hope varroa passes them by.

Someone’s “doing his coaching badges” & the whole family asked if he wasn’t a bit old for scouts? We’re not wholly supportive of Mr.Rooney...

Oh gods - “totally patriotic” has a second meaning in family language & keeping faces straight at times challenging.

Sky commentator has an interesting face - husband wondered if computer generated whereas I thought the software usually does a better job & the chap actually genuinely human.

Hand turned meat slicer works but tries to slide along the table - it’s suction cup isn’t holding it. Slicing beef for jerky will become a game for two players! [Or me and a furniture clamp.]

Admiring the repair shop program & the basketry work- husband happily observing if you want a proper job doing you need someone slightly deranged. I eyed various projects & grin at his “oh aye I’m not saying owt.”

Wonderful how much pleasure the free samples give at Costco... (means I am not accompanied by a muttering thundercloud All the time).

Son peacefully lugging and stowing Costco shopping. He has been thoroughly trained! The vast box of coco pops appears to be effective in the Pavlovian conditioning.

I am gathering my strength before setting out to make strawberry jam then Nostradamus’ cherry jam.... do instead I set two bags of peppers to dehydrate. [Diligently chopped, carefully arranged & this morning colourful squiggles - they “reduce” considerably!]

Husband has offered to help making jam, freaked at the time (gone 9 pm a bit late) & declared ‘tomorrow!’ [Whilst not Granny & assorted Aunts, he was still a great comfort & deft with the spatula.]

“It’ll be raining Sunday so the Vikings are off” - some plans rearrange themselves despite abundant waterproofs.

Dear me. I had rather a lot of Kilner jars. I then went visiting & used almost every single pound jar I had. So today’s strawberry jam (aided by Himself who both loves the commercial stuff & now has a vested interest in our version!) is in largely his Ravenhead Kilner jars. [There are still a couple making that lovely sealed-in-promise “click” though!]

Amazon prime is almost International - the jam bands & lids I ordered from Germany have arrived Already! (Still going to clean up the originals - can’t have too many Kilner compatible bands. [Especially since replacements for the 1932-1948 jars are going to be expensive If Findable, I may do better selling then to collectors & buying ones I can still get parts for....]

I’m finding the American defence of assault rifles as 30-50 feral hogs somewhere between blutty-American & rib achingly funny. Awed at the ingenuity, bemused that an assault rifle is the right answer to Almost Any Question.

Love the Grand Turk’s captain - “you don’t leave a ship until you have to climb up to get out” on the empty Marie Celeste.

Cherry jelly, in the spirit of Nostradamus, cooling on the table. Oh that colour! Medieval stained glass or better...

Intrigued by Lidl reusable bags - must go looksee & then decide if would rather try to make my own.

The economy has shrunk? Well my jam cupboard is filling - and there are blackberries & apples yet.

At the start of the thunder here, I went & unplugged the TV aerial. Using the Bad Method so I ended up with 4 bits, a cable & my phone with pictures.... All sorted now. Son (out on mountain bike) has sensibly sought refuge but is Not sharing his father’s amusement.

Son has just spotted the hot chocolate brought from Costco & is counting the times this week he’s wished for it, (notably after most wet mountain biking trips!) and deploring our failure to tell him it was there.

Got the Lidl reusable veg bags - if they work out (& if I remember to use them), I’ll make more for Christmas presents for my eco-conscious relatives.

Husband revisiting site that sold us the almost 3’ frying pan. (We have to use a trivet as it puts fires out.)

“Meh, Romulans - they’re excitable compared to Vulcans” chaps on Star Trek voyager...

Second breakfast of apple pie & cream - I like the way my youngest thinks.

Had a flashback to Granny chirruping “crashems for Jenkins!” - now Jenkins is an IT thing, making researching harder, but I am remembering the nursery version of “up Jenkins” & it was loads of innocent alcohol free fun!

You recall that “happiness is a cigar called” music? Playing for son who fumbled both date And time of his resit theory test. A £23 lesson he should recall another time..... So Glad he asked me for a lift & I checked address, date & time.

Son scampering for something misjudged position re pull-up bar, tripped on his toes & banged his head... awed.

Another dozen jam jars filled, from the garden no less, but oh my feet! Still, arrayed to cool, I reckon the planting & picking & processing & then finally making jam worth it.

The little windup radio is doing sterling work for one so small & unbatteried.

“Stubbins tandoori” sounds wonderfully Northern. They don’t deliver so Dig’s three tin surprise may be the dish of the day. The cries of lamentation as the family realise our favourite kebab place is closed for Eid.... [I went & bought supermarket pizza as an alternative treat. Not desperately MS but the chaps were unresponsive to logic.]

“My time on Earth, 50% spent asleep, 30% wrestling with the freezer” declaims child - this After I extracted 6 kilos of assorted fruits from it. [That he is devouring the home made jam & the home make beef jerky seems to have escaped his notice.]

After someone thought potassium iodide tablets were a good thing to have as a prep (they prevent radiation uptake for a while), I found myself singing Fascinating Aïda’s "bunker lullaby" & fumbling a couple of phrases (I last heard it before A levels). Google reveals the lyrics in Russian & in German which gives me an interesting insight into who else loves FA enough to want to sing it in their own language. I think the Russian version may be state sponsored as it’s Very Russian...

Husband peering at rice crispy squares declaiming every square wrapped in unicorns - “that’s bizarre” - not just me, thank heavens.

We found a pasta drying rack in a charity shop & youngest eyed it & asked Why were we lynching tiny gnomes? OK, I now need to make pasta & get the gingerbread man cutter out. The evening meal will be suitably Weird.

Youngest has had a restful day - eaten the remains of last night’s pizzas, and worked on his computer.

Project Bathroom is under way & The Tall have already made several innocent spiders homeless. (I note one achieved this while still bringing his hot chocolate with him.) Frankly, How The Devil did we come to gave so many razors? (Why one refuses to use one, despite presenting a piebald appearance, is ‘an ecumenical issue’.)

Cabbage, broccoli, & possibly even the Christmas sprouts may be in short supply? Heavens, Raffles has much to answer for. (I am enjoying the Yellow Stuff between showers - stick at it?!)

My husband, “helping” me slice the beef for jerky by watching, & commenting, & (to be fair) making a splendid marinade. Still, we know it’s thoroughly edible, sons have devoured the first lot!

Ah, the sound of a happy man, fettling a handsome pair of boots to a whisker off utterly pristine. Plus the gurgle as he realises the wonderful matching lace is in fact the other end of the original...

Results Day & son has both pleased & bemused himself but Anyway is heading off to his apprenticeship in a fortnight. [ish]

Seen a snippet of something the child is watching & asked “why has he got a woman in the basement?” - husband opined “his other woman in the attic doesn’t get in with her” Some days I Wonder about my chaps!

Off to see the Book of Mormon which is reviewing as hilarious. First time off to the theatre without family! [Blimey, 21 high energy folk plus musicians and very funny, but a musical & thus nul points to certain family. I have spent more on the CD & book than I did on the ticket but it’ll be my birthday present.]

Dear gods. American reenactors can get artificial hogs bladder to cover jars with. Frankly, I’ll stick to cling film, wax wraps or my beloved Kilner jar lids!

The downside of being stretched out on a rug with a good book is I am being used as a pillow. Still, son has left my mug of tea in reach.

Attenborough on raccoons - awed at what they seem to see with touch alone! [Son refused to believe a sloth bear exists.]

The handsome bags with the habitat logo I saw & coveted in London turn out to be available from Sainsbury’s - Christmas wrapping sorted!

Husband spotted working trousers discounted & snaffled 4 pairs at under a fiver each, then, later in the day, picked out 4 new T shirts in his size for a tenner. Four brand new outfits with change from £30 - I could <insert awed but irate verb of your choice>!

Mock the week & "Black Forest gecko"
Um, maybe you had to be there.

Film ("train of events") included lines about taking to chickens to encourage them laying, “Keep off politics” - anyone know if it works?!

Sat down with a handful of old statements & resolver - really very not-complicated!

Strength hugs love courage good sleep & very clear evidence trails to all as have need. Fingers crossed for all who travel or love those that do/have.

Hello from land of so much rain!

Work 9-12 was fine. In, work, out. A few tips.

Home. Brought washing in as it was dry and valiantly hung towels out. They got a blow for an hour and then thankfully got them in as the rain started and it has not stopped. Just got heavier.

The niecelys came for tea. Had chicken in breadcrumbs, my garden potatoes, corn on the cob and coleslaw. I do love a family dinner all around my table. They don't have a table ( small flat) so I like to get GN to set the table for me.

GN made brownies. Some for pud and a wee tray to take away. I love baking with her. She was so chuffed she can crack an egg and not get she'll in the bowl. Pudding was delish.

Stewed down some apple for baby who enjoyed it. There's a wee portion to take away and told niece I'm happy to stew/ cook food for her and freeze into ice cube sized portions.

Invited GN to join me and DD2 on the first weekend of our holiday. Yes was the delighted answer and we've started a list! She'll travel back with DD2 and I will stay on.

    Baby chatter.

Had planned on going to allotment blackberry picking but the weather had other ideas. I'd have been soaked!

    Pleasures for today (Wednesday).

    1) Not a bad sleep. Bigger son slept through until 8am.

    2) Finally got round edging one of the beds in the allotment with the very ancient, thick door frame that was removed from the house last year! Also planted radishes, lettuces and chard.

    3) Hens well.

    4) Cleaned downstairs.

    5) Bigger son went to college to do some revision. They postponed his exams (from last year) to next week now as they will be dealing with GCSEs and enrolment the rest of this week.

    6) Looked at smaller son's birthday card. Bigger son had drawn it in Nepal and got lots of people to sign it. They had all written little messages and my favourite was "May your days goes well with all the happiness".

    7) We went to my sister's for a welcome home tea (plus my parents and brother). Lots of food plus trifle.

    8) Back home and all tired so we're all watching different laptops and phones in bed!

GCSE results tomorrow. 4 x level 3s needed for college (old D grade). Level 4 in maths and English would mean no retakes............

    1. I submitted my appeal for flexible working. I sent it to my manager and her manager. It will be interesting to see the response.

    2. A colleague rang from another site. She couldn't find a large piece of equipment. Couldn't see why anybody would remove it.

    3. DS2 made it home. He had a good holiday and looked red as got burnt on the last day.

    4. Cooked chicken and cashew nut stirfry for tea.

    5. Started a new book which I'm enjor.

Hope you feel better soon MrsLW

    Wednesday pleasures,

Grazing the beautiful grey one in hand after schooling and there must have been at least half a dozen dragonflies darting above our heads.

My girlies little chirrup of happiness as she found a particularly lush patch of clover.

Popped into horsey town and found a SH copy of Rose Elliot’s New Complete Vegetarian in CS, it had hardly been used.

Sat down to have a look through, promptly fell asleep and woke up just as Capt S came home!

Late night walk around the garden so small dog could do her thing and did a bit of star gazing.
