Pleasures today -
Seeing a rowan tree in the park full of red berries.
The smell of fresh cut grass - yes, I mowed the lawn but before it got too hot.
Having all doors and windows open, plus the patio door.
Ceiling fan in the bedroom proving it's worth its weight in gold.
Pleasant quick doze in the late afternoon. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Erm....work is done and dusted! Nine hour shift in a hot kitchen.
Windows are open ( DD had shut mine when she went out) a wee breeze coming through.
Very cool shower. Don't think I've had one since Melbourne!
Having chicken and my new allotment potatoes for tea!
Quite good tips so they're going in the charity jar!0 -
1 Various aircons on and animals inside.
2 Hoovered and cleaned up and various animal washing loads done.
3 A bowl of spaghetti and veg for tea.
4 My DB officially retired today, I’m pleased.
5 I went to Mr T today, I did pick up what I went for and some rtc;s but I don’t think I will be going back now, we have cheaper shopping down to a fine art nearly and Mr T isn’t cheap.0 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Took some clothes to the charity shop.
4) Picked up bigger son's uniform for college for next year. It was already 32 degrees by this point.
5) Sainsburys man appeared! Only had £7 for food last week so we were down to apples and spices.
6) My brother dropped off muntjac casserole for our tea.
7) Did batch cooking - Spanish chicken then meatballs in tomato sauce and had 11 portions which are now in the freezer.
8) Watched Holby then 24 Hours in A and E.
9) Thunderstorms forecast 11-6am. They make me stand out in the garden in an over excited fashion! From 3 angles, you can just see houses or bits of the village. From the 4th angle, there is an uninterrupted 30 mile stretch then the Malvern Hills. Which is OK if the lightning is in that direction!0 -
1. Doing very little - recharging batteries. Sunny weather.
2. Swimming in the sea. Always good. It improves my mental wellbeing.
3. Seeing friends for a meal and much wine and laughter.
4. Having coffee in town square and watching the delight of children playing with water.
5. Walk round local garden/ park listening to live band.0 -
Tuesday pleasures,
Rough nights sleep due to heat so that first cup of proper coffee.
Over to see equine girlie, already very hot so only a 10 minute lunge before I gave her a cool wash down and put her back in the paddock. She will have a couple of days off now as meant to reach the high 30’s here and neither of us want to work in that kind of heat.
The amount of birds either drinking or having a bath in the water feature and butterflies on the buddleia.
Salmon burgers for an easy tea.
A new series of Keeping Faith.0 -
Town of Horse, urgent oil for Meriva, somewhat worrying. 2 litres last week, 4 yesterday. Staying watchful.
1. Face-to-face handover became 2nd volunteer day. Another 'Man plans, God laughs' one, but never mind.
2. Vl - I'm reading you as being in your French place? With you, thinking of own recent osps posted here)))
3. After Hhurrchrs, some of which/whom is/are confusing & these days, drove into Town of Gown, The Alma, left 2 flat white single sheets for those off to Japan for 🏉 World Cup. We fully expect to see The Alma Front Row banners, following precedent:-)
4. Wow! factor weather, every which way. Woken around 2.30 by big, BIG thunder. Listened. Outside all wet this morning - as is skirt I'd left over garden chair back. Matters not.
5. Avoiding all news, much enjoyment instead singing with new Spookymen's Chorale CD in car, hearing cricket various on radio, or R4X, R3. No TV here. Undeprived:-).

Spits to prepare for today, fingers X'd, especially if oil light/problem returns.
Mhags, that 56 tatoe result is fantastic - and the rest:-). I'm hoping the jungly lush growth of my 6 bags doesn't mean small crop below. Most are taller than me, raspberries ditto, and snapping over. On verra.

Raffles who likes to patrol his parish was caught out by the crack of thunder last night. BoPsie is still worried, but he has bin fed! In the town, someone has found a shrew in their car according to buckface. Good job raffles did not find it thirst!
Last night as it was a bit warm, BoP had reversion salads. With ham and cheese. Rite tasty and rite cool. Wobbleades were consumed. T20 was watched!
Now is wild Wednesday at the wobbleade emporium across from the mill. We deserve this after putt inn a graft in the boiler room on days like this! Food may be consumed!
Well as I has bin sweltering inn the boiler room, and the millwright came along with his ice creams yesterday, yes that is what it is like to work for someone who could not give a monkey for our well being, that’s yers lot for today!
If you do have to leave the table for any reason, such as bored has beens being served, make sure your exit is dramatic!0 -

Evening all
Thanks for the heads up on 'Keeping Faith' - I've lost track of telly over the last month or so.
Some recent pleasures:
1. This morning, sitting with my cup of decaff on the balcony of my parents' flat enjoying the morning sunshine and breeze drying my hair.
2. I collected my dad's ashes from the crem last week, strapped the box into the front seat of the car, stuck some music on Radio 3 very loud and drove us back to the flat. When he was alive, he really liked me driving him with classical music on in the car.
3. DS1 has recorded and sent me copies of the old ansaphone messages from my dad that were left on our phone at home. One is a reminder for us to look after ourselves. Two others mention each of my sons by name. Precious stuff.
4. The thunder and lightening last night were magnificent (secretly hoping for more in the next few nights).
5. DS2 has bought me a reconditioned smart phone (had to happen some time) and is currently funding a very cheap contract for me so I now can get proper signal everywhere in the flat which has radically altered my ability to phone people for support without disturbing my mum whose memory loss is plummeting. DS2 has given me lots of lessons in how to work the phone and I'm loving using it (much to my surprise).
6. DS1 has been visiting a lot and is helping to diffuse some of the difficult situations going on with DM. It's enabling me to have some much needed breaks. I've been staying here for five weeks now.
7. In one of those breaks I managed to get to the allotment to see the state of it - complete jungle, maincrop potatoes not earthed up, so much stuff not planted out, bean canes in place but no bean plants, other plants going to seed everywhere, fruit being eaten by the birds... However, it's absolutely teeming with insect life so I'm viewing it as my contribution to the health of the planet and am hoping that if birds are eating my crops they will not be eating my neighbours' plants. When I eventually clear it, there will be so much compost!
8. Still crying at every available opportunity which actually feels pretty good.
Sweet dreams
