5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Broomstick, so good you gave your dad the kind of funeral he would have appreciated. We did the same for my husband last week, it was a day full of light, laughter, music and memories.
Today my DS has left early for a team meeting away from his usual town of work. More sorting out of stuff will take place today, my husband was a bit of a hoarder, loved shopping, particularly of good quality stuff. I intend to watch Marie Kondo on Netflix today, apparently episode 4 in series 1 is about a woman clearing out her deceased husband's stuff, so might contain useful tips for me.
Today's anticipated pleasures:
(Just had) lemon and ginger tea in bed, dog and cat with me, Radio 2 on Alexa. A civilised start to the day. La Vida Loca is currently playing.
First visit to local gym since before OH's death. Need to get fit again, and there's a social element to it as well.
Doing a wash load and hanging it on the line in the sunshine.
Roasting squash, courgettes, onions, garlic, whatever, to make roasted veg to serve with pasta for dinner tonight, maybe a spoonful of mascarpone stirred in and grated Grana Padano cheese and fresh basil on top. That's what my instinct tells me anyway.
Early walk with dog in the park, seeing the buddleia and honeysuckle in bloom, and said dog charging around in the sunshine.
Have a lovely day people!One life - your life - live it!0 -
Truly believe that giving our loved ones the funeral they request is one of the purest acts of love we can perform, hugs to Broomstick and Nargle.
Tuesday pleasures,
A meeting with the estate manager went well and has gone some way to allay our fears re building near the cottage.
Bit late getting to the yard due to above and it was very warm already, lunged girlie for just 15 mins and then gave her a cool bath.
A weasel that run across the round in front of my car.
An evening meal made up of lo chicken and store cupboard staples, little dog got the jelly from the bottom of the chicken plate, her favourite.
It was a warm, muggy evening so late night wander around the garden, no sign of eclipse as too much cloud.0 -
Just lost huge post.

7. DD's birthday presents for tomorrow are all sorted.
8. Long lost family
9. Have been offered a 'very' part time job for the autumn, but it's right up my street. Teaching my favourite subject at a higher ranked, more prestigious uni than my old one. (they're gonna freak when they find out...)
10. DS has really enjoyed his volunteering. He's gaining a good reputation so can now use it for references and experience when he's looking for proper jobs :T
Have a nice day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Bedtime. It's so dark and dismal that I've actually seen my solar lights on!
Worked 9-12 was very busy. Happy to skip out the door!
Home and chatted with DD1. Enjoyed a roll and sliced sausage and a tattie scone! It's been a while:)
Had a snoozette.
Made lasagne ...of sorts! Assumed I had more lasagne sheets than I did so improvised. A mix of penne pasta and 2 sheets! Was delicious. Had roast potatoes and home grown salad leaves.
Friend phoned for a chat.
Had some rather tasty brownie. With strawbs and nectarines and a dollop of cream.
Caught up on some programmes.
It's rained for most of day which is of course excellent for the allotment. It means I don't have to go down and water, everything is just growing quite nicely.
Australians arrive tomorrow. Just for a couple of nights before they all head off on an adventure ! Poor things , rain is forecast for next few days. Soggy.0 -

Nargle and Broom stick glad you were able to give your loved ones the funerals they wanted .DH refuses to talk about it as he says he won't be there so doesn't care ,tho he wants a Catholic one to "hedge his bets" ( lapsed many years ) .it is v hard ,DS is promising hi he will enter to 'On the ball City' unless he comes up with something else !0

Pleasures for today (Wednesday already!)
1) The horrors of the start of the Blood Sugar Diet have passed so I have some energy again! More than normal, to be fair.
2) Hens OK. Watered the courgettes. Weeded round the tomatoes in the greenhouse. Massive tomato plants but no flowers yet.
3) Had no idea what I was doing, but mixed mortar and replaced a missing row of bricks in the top of the inglenook fireplace. Also filled in the annoying gap between the last row of floor tiles and the brickwork.
4) Saw my dad and brother and they gave me 2 courgettes.
5) Nice photos of bigger son making fencing in Nepal. He was cutting bamboo with a machete in one picture, with a Nepali man (also with a machete). I asked who that was and it was just a random man who wanted to help him and who asked for a photo :-)
6) Picked up length of stove pipe, cut by the suppliers for the right size.
7) Picked up the birthday present for my friend's daughter - a Lush voucher. Thought I had better get it whilst in Floody City as it is the nearest branch.
8) Had a cup of tea with my school friend.
9) Used another voucher in Waitrose for a few bits.
10) Got home and sanded and polyfillad all the fine gaps in the bathroom. Then cleaned the bathroom. Then cleaned the stairs (the actual steps, which are wood) which I shall paint tomorrow morning.
11) Just renewed the house insurance through Quidco, so shall get cashback for that at some point.
12) Got quotation from builder (who has done a lot here over the years) to fit the new register plate in the fireplace and the new taps to the kitchen sink. Hoping to get all DIY, painting and other jobs done before bigger son gets home. It is a lot quieter when he is not here and much less driving around. And it gives me a deadline.0 -
1. Left work on time. Only today to go before my holiday.
2. Suitcases down from loft.
3. DS1 home at a reasonable time and chatty.
4. More clutter has gone from the house. It's amazing where it all comes from.
5. Chat with a neighbour who I hadn't had a proper conversation with for a while. She gave me an empty egg box. I spoke to her this time. I often get one left on my door step.0 -
Wednesday pleasures,
Meant to be a hot one so cracked on with chores first thing, cleaned upstairs windows inside and washed down all the paintwork.
Made some bread, half and half wholemeal & white, and then went down to the garden centre whilst it was proving.
My beloved’s face when he walked in at lunchtime and smelt fresh bread.
Potted up new plants in garden shady spot, including a scented geranium and a new sage as mine had been lost over the winter.
Seed crusted haddock for tea with new pots & veg.0
