5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Coffee at the garden centre and I used my voucher that was a gift from a friend when we moved to buy some reduced nicotinia plants and a sedum spectibile to go in my flower border.
DD1, James and the boys came for a cup of tea and some cake after lunch.
Drive out into the countryside after coffee and finding a Pick your own farm close enough by to use. We'll go back for some raspberries in the week to make jam and then there will be plums, apples and pears later in the year.
My garden seat is finished, I've had a little sit out on it and it's perfect. Just a little shelter and a roof make such a difference to being in the garden in the heat.
The girls and families have booked a family meal next weekend at a local to us carvery, all 12 of us together and out to eat will be very nice indeed. I am including both the grandpickles to be in this of course!0 -
I forgot Mrs LW's detail but loved the idea of Rhubarb Bellinis so used the BBC version here which includes a lemon & an orange & a lump of ginger.
Either way I commend white granulated sugar & a muslin to strain as version one looked disconcertingly post operative drain output (tasted fine, just muscovado, spice jar ginger & a sieve were not the right tools for the aesthetic!) Batch 4 has a wonderful pearly pink look [which I cannot explain or probably replicate] & continues to taste excellent.
mhagster, just awed. A thousand Aus Dollars is a lot of effort & a lot of tips.
OS Pleasures today (so far)
Planted car boot blueberries. Further jam futures, I hope!

Bought a nice pot then researched it & the basestamps say made between 1920 & 1923
Lad came back from bike ride & was happy, filthy & ravenous - reassuringly young male.
Eldest saw possible vacancy as mystery shopper but didn't know what one was... [Once I finished laughing, I sent him useful weblinks]

what a day! needed to get a chapter finished to send back to a student - needed more work than anticipated. so the good news was
1) dd2 gave me a lift to work which has 2 screens
2) had the NZ innings on one of the screens
3) hm chicken stew for lunch
4) finished at 2:45 and went over to pub where i strategically chose a seat where i could see the cricket AND the tennis
5) though as the match progressed the tennis got less and less attention. what an amazing match!!! i am exhausted. and the celebrations at Lords go on.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

A few pleasures encountered over the past few days.
Friday, funeral day Seeing my OH's coffin covered in the Royal Marines flag, surrounded with flowers, in a silver Jaguar hearse. The man went on his last journey in style.
A beautiful service full of light, gentle humour, love and pride in seeing family and friends turning out to pay respects to this man, this gentle but completely off-the-wall man who touched their lives.
The song La Mer by Charles Trenet, one of his favourite tunes.
Exiting the crematorium chapel to the sound of Ian Dury's Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick played at top volume. He used to play that song when we had friends round for drinks, and accompany it on the air piano, sending everyone into fits of laughter.
Back home afterwards, about 30 of us, all the doors in the house open, people wandering from room to room and out into the garden, food and drink flowing freely.
Later, just immediate family. Lots of drink consumed, much mirth and hilarity, music and story telling.
My son and daughter singing a duet to the German version of 99 Red Balloons. What a talented pair! My stepson totally drunk but mellow.
Next day, lunch out en famille in Italian restaurant.
Today, stepson and family gone home, just me and son now. Sorting, clearing up, watching a series in Netflix about a Danish schoolteacher, really good.
Now, relaxing after shower, waiting for new series of Poldark to start.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Now I have to slowly create my new normal routine. No rush, will just go with the flow. One life - your life - live it!0 -

Nargle - I'm glad you are OK and that sounds perfectly planned and delivered.
Pleasures for today (Sunday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK. First courgette is growing!
3) Took some fairy cakes to neighbour to say thank you for looking after our cat while we were on holiday. Left them on her step. Noticed later that she has not come back (probably away for the weekend) so went back and picked up the cakes and we ate them!
4) Nice salmon for tea.
5) Enjoyed Wimbledon.
6) Sent off a job application which took HOOOOUUUUUURRRRSSSS.0 -
