Quick pleasures for today as I've suddenly gone tired!
1) Smaller son had an early exam but got to school by 8.20. English Language 1 today and for the last question he wrote 5 sides - about Nepal :-D
2) I went to the greasy spoon while he was in his exam. It is next to bigger son's college so the lady looked round and said, "Where is he?" and I explained there will be no breakfast for him for 3 months! Then another regular came in and also said, "Don't you normally come in with your son?" Turns out she has travelled all over the world.
3) Had my £3 haircut at college.
4) Went to Sainsburys.
5) Went to mum and dad's briefly.
6) Went into town for growbags and hen food.
7) An absolute monsoon by the time I got to the allotment. I sat in the car for 20 mins but obviously had to get out in the end! By the time I had carried 4 growbags to the greenhouse and fed the hens, I was soaked through. Planted out my tomato and melon seedlings. 2 eggs today.
8) Made a chow mein for tea.
9) My mum has bought a new phone so she can access the internet on it and message bigger son. She left it here so smaller son can set it up for her.
10) Watched Holby.0 -
1. My delivery of a compost caddy for the kitchen arrived in one piece. It was first delivered by it being thrown over the garden gate and it broke. John Lewis replaced it with no effort and ensured a different courier company was used. I now have to train everyone to use it.
2. Took a salad to work for lunch and was pleased when a rep arrived with pizza so I had a small slice.
3. Rain did the garden good and I now have some water in the water butts.
4. Used up leftovers for tea with some eggs from my hens.
4. Finished my book.0 -
Ah, love the idea of baby birds in teapots PK
Busy old morning but ticked all chores off list.
The pink & white honeysuckle is coming into flower.
Rainy afternoon so skipped garden work and watched a film instead, Effie Gray, most interesting and made me search for info on John Ruskin.
Salmon with new pots for tea.
Springwatch, they have a camera in a GS Woodpecker nest :j0 -
BoP is off course today and gone somewhere else. I wander what will be of it!
Fingers are crossed
On dumping BoPsie for her bus this morning, Raffles was spotted entering his restaurant! The protected newt pond!
On with your day now!0 -
A yellow wagtail beside the lake.
a brand new Gruffalo top for the Oreo child for 50p.
We've booked tickets to see a Flanders and Swan evening in one of the village halls in a weeks time.
HWK has waxed and polished the big dresser in the lounge and it's come up like new, looks fantastic.
We're going to have fish and chips for supper tonight from the newly established van that visits once a week because the reviews for the food are really good, fab!0 -
Today was mainly work!
Doggy walk first thing then went to get eyebrows waxed.
Then work! I made vegan cupcakes. They were actually very delicious. Baking 'veganly' is all very new to me.
Much to still do but so much done. We sat and wrote a huge big list, a few hiccups this afternoon but better now than later.
Got 3 very RTC plants from T. My bedraggled hydrangea from Saturday is positively blooming, just needed a soak. Got another one today.
Popped home to take DD to work and will have to go back out for her later ( grrrr but I don't want her wandering the streets when it's dark)
Popped back in to work. For about an hour and half.
Home had tea. It's lashing again and I will need to take the dog out!0 -
Woke up with new and interesting pains, always fun. I did the usual morning errand and popped out with fish food only to find major pond problems que a day of trench digging cable pulling and a hope that we have some fish left.!
It’s wrens that have moved into the tea pots,:j he’s been toing and froing with bits from our palm tree all day.
1 Keeping an eye on property, having blown our property list out of the water, literally, as two of the houses had been completely underwater!
2 Took our little ferret for her jab to bring her out of season this once, next time she’ll be able to be neutered.
3 I also worked on the patio, de weeding the bits that grow in between the patio slabs.
4 Dotted lavender and eucalyptus around to deter flies.
5 We treated ourselves to a Chinese takeaway it was delicious, and will be lunch tomorrow as well.:D0 -
1. Seeing a lovely rose that smelled divine on the way to the bus stop.
2. Interesting day at work. People not pulling their weight but others stepping in to help unexpectedly.
3. Eventually watched the fly over. It was delayed by over 2 hours. Amazing the amount of people gathered outside to watch. A new colleague asked what it was for and when I said D day her response was never heard of that and there are old planes! She is 22 but then another colleague of 25 explained in great detail what it was about and then said you must have done it at school.
Another young colleague didn't want to watch she sees planes everyday as she lives close to Heathrow.
4. Caught my bus with a second to spare as I wanted to finish watching the fly pass. A colleague - the young one who knows about D day locked up for me.
5. DS2 cooked chicken pie for tea and made two so one is in the freezer.. It was tasty.
6. Did some more decluttering. I can now open my wardrobe door and not in danger of things on the floor falling out.0 -
Wednesday pleasures,
Bacon and scrambled egg breakfast.
Over at the yard which is close to a US airbase and saw a number of the aircraft take off to head to the various DD commemorations, huge lump in my throat and memories of maternal grandfather who fought on that day.
Time spent with equine girlie, she kicked her heels at times but good to see her spirit.
A baby wild bunny in the garden, ears almost bigger than body.
Our goldfinch babies have obviously fledged as juvenile rocking precariously on the side of bird water whilst a parent was drinking.0 -
