DD...always onwards! Onwards and upwards is something to aim for but sometimes just onwards is all you can hope for!
Some extra pleasures for today.
Son is packing his car for an epic drive to Europe...allegedly for a fortnight bit by the amount of stuff could manage for a month!
'Got you some Diet Coke 'he said and gave me a box of 24 cans. Not known for spontaneous gestures I looked at him suspiciously:) but he was just being nice!
Waffles were a success! I'd mine with strawberries and the last banana . With a wee splodge of cream. Son had his with a tower of bananas and strawberries and a big splodge of cream and DD had syrup. Have enough of batch to take to work tomorrow to do a photo shoot!
I'm doing a fundraising event on Saturday so some new sponsors today .0 -
1. Had a good day at work. Things seemed to go well. I worked with someone I don't normally work with and was interested in his opinions about the situation at work.
2. Enjoying my book.
3. DS2 girlfriend wants some of my tomato seedlings to grow. I am giving more to a friend who in seeing today.
4. Went out for a meal with DH. Not expensive and great service.
5. My flowers still looking lovely.0 -
Thinking of DD and hope all goes as well as possible.
Gggrrr on the ex Frith but you know the truth!
Thursday pleasures,
Slow start as another rough night sleep wise, coffee always helps!
Must have worked as whizzed through house cleaning and then had a good two hours on my OU course.
Capt S home for lunch, pastrami wraps with a big salad.
Lay on bed to read and woke up nearly an hour later.
Whizzed over to yard and saw equine girlie.
Watched Ambulance, one of the best things on tv.0 -
Catch-up reading here is always a pleasure, even when sending instant hugs is the instinctive response. Currently> Frith, DD, Mrs LW, mhags.

Recent osps:
1. New mower:-))) Narrow front and snouty, works into gaps and undergrowth brilliantly. Only £39 to begin with, much rtc! Then, & had a £16+ refund, so....
2. 300-mile round trip for New World eye level grill gas cooker yesterday - Birmingham! Gas long preferred, daily power outages here. Fortnight's thorough research. Only 1 tinny thing (Flavel) to be seen anywhere in area(Homebase, Town of Gown). Journey meant Aladdin's cave stacked stock on show, along with super-obliging, courteous family staff:-). So, now to collect again repaired B&D trolley from Town of Horse engineering firm. They've saved it twice now.
Will then ferry new cooker in for A Corgi Man to connect, officially:-). & did last one. Had no idea this was not allowed. It's the kiwi way:-).
3. So, no Spits y'day, but no other day available: another funeral today, big AGM tmrw, left-hand surgery Monday (burgeration: & is left-handed.) Not supposed to use it for a while. On verra. Grateful that savings from Spits make such things possible. So, mower, car tax, cooker all done this week, before quick Devon trip, and 3xSpookymens Chorale concerts in Scotland (end of month)all paid. & has never used credit, never will. After plea from friends, years ago, &'s maman started what is part of an NZ govt dept, helping people become debt-free, learn to budget.
4. Nigel Gawthrope's Memorial Service in Great St Mary's and Guildhall later. A glorious life celebrated.
5. Unpacking all 4 NZ boxes, safely arrived Saturday. One breakage, but will use it -broken rim studio pottery casserole - for a plant.
6. Gorgeous massed wild poppies, pink, crimson, scarlet, mauve, lilac, magenta, so very tall.
Random clumps everywhere this year.
7. Do feel grateful generally, though frustrated politically.
8. Ben Stokes' catch yesterday.

Decorators. I don’t pay my decorator, she lodges here with BoP! Mind yous, our dining room and lounge look fantastic.
DD. Beginineers!
Who has been eating roasted cauliflower. No No No No No No No No No. Not proper food! AVOID. Cauliflower is covered in cheese sauce and breadcrumbs if it goes into the oven! At least Ms Friffs realises that unusual veges need to be covered in cheese!
Watched the flix of the net again last eve, Historical Roasts. Bit dodgy ifs you like Diana though! Very good selection of characters. Doubt it would be welcomed in Engerland! Diana had transfored into a plump pudding version! Avoid if yous affended!
& Putah things appears to be working!
PM2DD. Football is over. Some tinpot competition this weakened.
Cricket, I said we were carp yestday. Well we are nots as carp as I fort at lunchtime! Game on again. The wind does change direction. And as & says. Good catch!
Nows BoP is inn the kite shed tomorrow as we has the supermarine thing flying over and some dog burgers as well. Be noshed and refreshed. Sunday I is in the kite shed showing off not only me beach ready body, but also the toys! Viewing from 1 pm! Better than watching the aussies play cricket.
Ashes. Bring it on!
Followed the cheese on toast delivery service onto our estate yesterday. Message to neighbores, we know who can’t cook!
Oh it is POETS day. On POETS day BoP does the money shuffles so we has enuff money for next weak. Bank always texts to say we has no pennies in our account and we should consider putting some inn as quickly as possible and preferably before they get rc. Normally this occurs after BoP has tipped over his piggy bank and put money into our account. BoPsie has her house keeping. Please note, Piggy banks are not secure! Inn other words, wes getting good interest in our fractured piggy bank than paying interest at the bank! Ooops, work that out!
There, enuff of BoPiness.0 -
Baby sparrows fully fledged but half sized getting fed by their parents on the bird table.
A lovely day shared with DD1 where we chatted, shopped had lunch and generally enjoyed each others company.
The decorating is finished and the rooms look gorgeous.
7 x small avocados for £1 at my little greengrocers today.
Having my hair trimmed so I no longer resemble an unpruned bush, much better!0 -
DD hugs, I hope today went “aright” and as ever onwards.
& a bargainous mower, and the amount of broken things or “ bigger than I expected” things being used as flower pots also. The best mower we ever purchased was about 5 years ago at an auction for £16 a flymo corded it’s still used exclusively on the front garden, I don’t use corded out the back I’m too likely to run the cord over.
1 I picked up an artisan bread for 40p, packed with olives and it is delicious, well it was also briefly toasted to melt the cheese.
2 Fresh bedding for us, an under rated pleasure.
3 We had planned to go out but the traffic had other ideas, it’s a pleasure to be able to say nope not doing this it can wait until next week.
4 The wind power of line drying washing, a ridiculously frugal pleasure.
5 Simple chicken and salad for dinner.0 -
Ampersand - Carpet town - home of Sainsburys! I'm a fair distance west (I think?) from there.
Pleasures for today (Friday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens well.
3) Dropped bigger son off in Carpet Town and got the last few supplies for Nepal - nail clippers and torch batteries. I note I am using the same nail clippers "borrowed" from my parents when I left for Uni in 1993!
4) Yesterday's roast gammon has gone a long way. It did two meals last night, with 2 in the freezer. Then pasta, broccoli, gammon and cheese sauce for 3 tonight - with 2 in the freezer! Then just a tin foil tray of sliced gammon, also in the freezer. :-D
5) Did baking for our train journey tomorrow. Cheese and (wait for it)... gammon muffins plus a tray of fairy cakes. Will also take sandwiches and fruit.
6) Have been planning our post plane drop off jaunt around London. I only go about once a year and get confused by the scale of it! We're going Cotswolds to Paddington then to Heathrow. Wave goodbye to bigger son at 12. Back into London then smaller son and I will walk across Hyde Park and have a look round the Science Museum.
The Hyde Park website says one road is shut ??? but as the road names mean nothing to me I can't tell if that will be a problem or not. Surely there is more than one gate on each side?
7) In bed (though will have to get up again to pick bigger son up) and about to do a marathon TV watching session.
8) Sorting of gardening and seedlings continued so did orchid maintenance and moved my chilli plant seedlings to a bigger pot.0 -
Hope all goes well tomorrow frith and that your boy has a time most fabulous!
So my boy is en route to France. Have you got your passport? Yes...No! Quick dash back upstairs. But he has plenty of food and his pillow and socks! Grabbed off the clothes horse this morning!
Whilst I waited for the builder coming I hoovered and tidied downstairs. Walked the dog.
He came...will come back next week. Sigh! My big window in extension is leaking and various snaggings to be done...listed in December! Just the 6 months then.
Went to work . Was there from 10.30- 6.45 and it fairly flew by and we got lots done but still loads to do!
More kind donations.
We had chips for tea.
And now I'm in bed. Big challenge tomorrow for fundraising! Waaaah!
It has lashed with rain and I really hope it stops for tomorrow!0 -
Thanks all for your uplifting words and virtual hugs. And yes mhags you're right to remind me sometimes it's not so much onwards and upwards, sometimes we celebrate just managing ownwards. For today
1) bank visit good. bank account in my name, and i have been OK'd in principle for a mortgage to buy xoh out. scary grown-up stuff!
2) we went for a coffee afterwards - i think we both found the bank visit rather exhausting
3) home for lunch, change into work clothes then important meeting. unfortunately for me potential coffee man emailed me 5 minutes in to say thanks but no thanks. actually not sure he said thanks. rather threw me. still, at least i know for definite
4) after work a much needed visit to the phoenix where one of our drinking buddies who was very ill and not expected to last the night a few weeks ago, induced coma and ICU, made a much welcome return, albeit for just one drink
5) then book club, and now bed. haven't decided if i'll watch the game tomorrow bop 8pm kick-off, i might just decide on an early night. and onward i goMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
