wake up it's a beautiful morning. lols re moisteneedle. and so for yesterday
    1) fast walk in with ds to bus station - he is 6'4'' and all his height is in his legs. good cardio for me!
    2) then walked back to train station where a one day return to montrose set me back £12.80 which i can claim back
    3) beautiful journey up the east coast (with flask) - not a journey i take very often. met by a chauffeur in chauffeur uniform, holding a card saying 'The Burn, Edzell'. very nice 15 miles in his new BMW. This is the life!
    4) good catch up with colleague from loughborough, lunch, then 90 minute workshop on reflective writing with her PhD students. refilled flask, home, met DD1 with dogs
    5) then home for spicy lentil soup - what chillier september days call out for.

God morgen, says &'s Dansk qtr self.
    #
Let's see if this works, sticks, posts.
    #
Over 2300 miles on little Meriva clock covered 3 wonderful, beautiful, glorious Dansk Spookymens' gigs, in some extraordinary spaces, and many adventures.
    Randomly plucked pleasures -

    1. Let's start with last night's Front Row re: Emmy's, ' the cachet of these cannot be UNDER-estimated....' and it wasn't picked up. Against that, have picked up dear Henry's last commentary moments and will deffo. look out for his Evening With again. It was terrific with Graeme Swann (post passim). Well done Lainey, too, on that answer:-)

    2. &'s grapevine in Coralux corner. Fat hanging bunches. Ripe, sweet grapes. Luscious.

    3. Fantastic times at sea, long and shorter. Found a remote ferry, Bøjden>Fynshav, in storming night and took it next morning, on reluctant leg back. Bucket list alerts to all ospers. Travel the extraordinary bridge that now links Jutland, Odense, Zealand. &'s 1971 1st edn Ladybird bk, 'Come to Denmark', pre-dates this amazing road over waters. 240 krone each way - no rtn discount. & asked - well worth saving for. Bop+bopsie, with your camera magic, you will capture brilliantly what & is hopeless at.
The seas, the crossings, some great crashing waves and swells and lurches and rainbows everywhere. Love it all.

    4. On a wrong bus in København ( Copenhagen), helped by much kindly meant misdirection, suddenly saw "Bronshøj" on a sign. Got off in torrential downpour, with 4 rainbows and sun also! and set off+ brolly to look for street 'Risvangen'. Stopped in corner sports shop, excused self for lack of Dansk, asked. Man looked at & oddly. " You are in it, milady.' And I was! Walked down to great uncle Axel's house, stood long, then thought I should knock on door, in case &'s static presence was noted with concern. En bref, lovely family, 3 small children, many pics taken, local history etc. etc., then their call to local bibliotek to expect & in moments. All happened and much more to do yet, another time, with wiki entries on Great-Uncle, his connections with skuldelev/Ra/Kon-tiki work and further family linkage. All rather exciting.

    5. Roskilde cathedral and cathedral organ and Gimle venue and town and sea and fjord and museum and rainbows and bird life and everywhere in Denmark, more frogs and toads and baby sames and ice-cream and and and. Great youth hostels, Frith. Massive free food overflow in kitchens, also in Viborg.

5a. Happened in on Dovercourt's 50th Annual Art exhibition and was looking for painting entitled " For Tomorrow We Diet...", when peripheral vision was pulled left to a stunning oil, "Quiet Time", of bluebell woods. Had to have it, knowing it would be given to near village/old uni friend for birthday just past. Long to have it myself, but know it will be seen with cuppas taken every visit.
Jump a few hours to doing exactly that late yday arvo. She LOVES it, placed it straight away. So glad.

5b. 5a followed & finding some local rugby for a cathartic 'back in uk' scream and shout, esp. having just picked up on ABs' fantastic 57- nil over the 'boks. All good. Also took pic of rugby sponsorship board by another local Alma Pub. A lovely big Pukekohe rugbyman went on for last qtr. We'd been talking. Couldn't save home team(in AB colours) from a 1pt loss at last minute.
& is back in time for 1st home match on the new 3g pitch. On verra.

Needed today - though not in the way it's meant. Drains are unblocked - hurrah - most immediate culprit? DS's boxer shorts :eek: and  and :rotfl: Messaged DS "what the &8!$ing hell were you thinking??" Answer: "I was not a well man, Bab". I am hoping that it was more accidental (trying to rinse) than deliberate (hiding the shame...). He was VERY ill, and these things happen, but bl00dy hell....

However, he has probably done us a favour as 'drain men' have uncovered some potentially serious root problems (as in problems with tree roots) which is why the blessed things got caught. THese were only going to get worse and could have meant digging up the floor, which we are hopeful (but not certain) of avoiding.

    So pleasures for yesterday

    1. The drain issues are partially resolved, at least we can shower now and use upstairs loos - for 'liquids' only. But at least it's something. The full resolution will be some time...
    2. DS had an OK first day at uni. Except "they tried to make us do drama"? me: "tried?" DS "yeah, some of us just walked out" :p To be fair "re-enact a scene from history" does sound rather primary school. He also walked in to see a lad from his history class at school. Didn't know him well because "he supports a different football team" :rotfl:, but what a coincidence. Neither knew the other was going.
    3. Phone call with dad - he seemed ok, but i did rather bombard him with 'drain' stories.
    4. Vegetable tagine for tea. Jack Monroe recipe, i'd used tinned potatoes as my store cupboard ones were (just) out of date and i wanted to use them up. when i ate the first version a couple of weeks ago, i could tell the difference. But this frozen leftovers version was nicer, and i couldn't. Will definitely do again.
    5. Watched 'Liar'. One of the things i like about autumn is the excellent drama that comes on tv.

    Have a good day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • 5 Bank has text’d me again this very morning before their doors have opened! Q It says that BoP has so little money left it is not possible to get any lower. Please think of BoPsie who is starving and send wobbleade chits in pal of pay. You donations will be liquidated. Only this is that it does nto catch up with its sen! On Fryday passing, it said it was not paying for BoPsie’s upkeep, and yet it said my remaining balance was loads of money! Today it says I can have twenty wopbleade chits, yet forgets that flics of net is wanting money! Technology for you! If you are worried about technology, pm BoP with wobbleade chits and we can …

4 Got to the gym last night and showed off my piste ready look. It strains on Monday. Buster was in as well, the one who can with his little finger, lift fifteen mini cars while eating a bacon and egg banjo, and texting his friends on buck of face! The one that comes on the running machine at full pelt, never warms up and then after five minutes of looking impressive, recedes into the corner because he has cramp. Don’t cramp my style! Five minutes of argh and I’ll see you next weak!

3 Got home to proper foods and a large finger of fish. Was wolfed down with sparkleade of lemon and a rub of the tum! Cocoa and buttered marmite crumpet was also eaten. Then sat to watch the speedway and it was in Manchester. It was raining! Typical Manchester weather!

2 Nite BoP will be munching on Chicken Roulette. Recipe see posts passim. Did it the other day and managed to over garlic it, but it was still rubbing of tum material!

You should have been unaffected by todays BoPpings, but rest assured, if you have felt uneasy about the fact that BoP is too true to be good, then I am afraind no help is available. Like BoP, it be tuff!

Now, what did you do today!

5 osps for Useful, Lovely, Purposeful delving:

    1. http://www.gothic-catalog.com/Danish_national_cathedral_organ_in_Roskilde_1554_1654_s/881.htm

This is the resting place of all Danish royalty.
So glad a lovely man in Anna Kirke insisted & make full time for it.
    Did. Impossible not to.
Buying guide book includes admission, so also well worthwhile.

Fantastic organ/event/theatre/performance rehearsal was going on last week, with laying of long mirror floor in high-polished steel/iinternal door size pieces, over aisle and organ playing in, with spoken word....hopeless attempt by & to convey something of this. Spectacular place/space/sound.

Viking everything. Longships building and generous sharing of talk and values and rainbows everywhere.
To think, having read on the excellent tags and signboards everywhere, that Glendalough in Ireland shares matching stones and timber boat remains.

  • 1) Feeling better today, much better, sadly He Who Knows not so : - (

    2) Trip on the bus into town taken, fridge re-stocked for when he feels up to food again.

    3) Invite to the pub tomorrow afternoon as Sue and Charlie retriever (and Sues hubby) are moving on Thursday, furniture going into storage and they're going to a Greek island for a couple of weeks. Plus is we get the Land Rover Freelander on the drive for the time they're away, folks will think we're going up in the world!

    4) Walked to the surgery for an early morning 'fasting' blood test and arrived quite early and the nurse was waiting by the door, called me and I was through and done 10 minutes before my due appointment time.....fab!

    5) Found a lovely 1st birthday card for my little Oreo child with a knitted monkey on the front sitting like he does and with the exact smile you get when he sees you come through the door, it's super.
  • 1 I was supposed to be working at home, but their servers were down, as I can’t park on site as their transport to site finished for the day, so I got a day to myself looking on the bright side!!! So I made a grilled bacon pocket for brekkie.
2 Time to sort through my too many clothes, first round is the worn-out things must go, sandpaper jumpers, holey trousers where they aren’t meant to be.
3 Hung out a few washing loads on the line, hoping the showers stay at bay.
4 I went to mow the lawn, but ended up playing with the animals for about an hour, I’m not sure who wore who out. Then picked them up and mowed, while they stared at me from the French windows, then let them straight back out to bounce around again.
5 Tonight will be spaghetti bolognaise, made with mince from the freezer, and anything in the fridge.
6 Thinking of going out for a local walk reccying for local rosehips.
7 Tea and sugar free walnut cake, delicious, while watching the birds on the feeder a rather blissful time to self.
8 Erm more tea only this time with a cherry scone and fresh strawberries.
9 Popped out to li@l for basics, chatted away to the rather harassed lady in front, nice to chat about nowt.
    10. A film on Am@zon and enjoyed the impromptu day off, I should have perhaps have done more but it will all still be there to do…

Hope MrLW feels better soon, and isn't trying to do too much too soon after his recent op x

&, Denmark sounds amazing, I've always wanted to go back to Scandinavia, having spent a fabulous holiday in Sweden when DD was too young to remember much about it. Maybe next year we'll venture that way.....

    1. Sunshine!

    2. 70p to online savings this morning, 1p this evening :)

    3. Saw a hot air balloon floating by whilst I was driving home.

    4. Good day at school, they all seemed to get what I was talking about, which is handy, especially in maths!!

    5. Lots of cuddles from DD :)

    6. Managed to have a proud mummy boast to her headteacher tonight about her university studying over the holidays. He was very impressed.

    7. Nice chats with some parent friends and lovely teachers at DD's school tonight.

    8. Soooooooo looking forward to seeing KW tomorrow evening :)

Pleasures for today (still only Tuesday!)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Hens OK and I pulled up the weedproof membrane that forms the paths so they could get worms and slugs from underneath. The hens follow me, waiting for me to pull another section up for them.

    3) Had a look round the charity shops in the city and got a T shirt for £1.50 - and it is long enough in the body! This is unheard of!

    4) Found 5 geocaches.

    5) Had a cup of tea with my school friend.

    6) Watched Celebrity Island.

    7) Have made a chicken tikka sandwich filling for tomorrow and don't know why I have never made it before - very tasty.

    8) There is a photo of me doing some archaeology on the website for the group I have joined! Anyone who wants a look do a search involving "north", "archaeology", the county I live in then it is a diary entry. :-D You have to click on a link that says something like "view our companion site".

    9) In bed now ready for Holby City.
