Sorry you're feeling rough still, Lainey. I was in town of horse late-ish, more roadworks.
Suffolk Sue, it IS hard and you are facing it doubly, yet increasingly singly, 24/7. Thank you for posting.
Good for elder son, Frith. We've read here how his fixing and building skills have grown with him. Was there ever any news of his stolen bike?
DD - heed vjm's writing advice:-). We remember your son's accident, too.

1. New T-Mobile manager has worked miracles. So grateful, understatement. Had already praised the section's efforts to store manager on way in yet again later yesterday.
Here I am, now writing: All things lost are now restored.
2. He's a saffer, so rugby talk shared during long Hack-Digger/Restore stages.
For some reason, he is not ABs' fan Club president.
Discussed:-)
3. Decent sleeps over last week, longer than usual. Not sure why. Yawning even now, which is ridiculous.
4. Good Caf! Rouge voucher lunch with oldest UK uni friend:-). We do enjoy these. Another due for &'s bday, I'm informed.
5. Good Shelford Ladies rugby match, late Sunday arvo. Turn-out gratifying and our Peahens won. Interesting chat with referee after.

Yesterday:
1. Really enjoyed watching an episode of How to Live Mortgage Free on Netflix. People on low incomes, doing amazing things. It made me think about our options and what creative things we could do once DD leaves home in 7-8 years. DH is a travelling consultant and if he still works internationally we could think about dumping the fixed abode!!
2. Reading Nancy Mitford in bed with a glass of wine.
3. Half of a Yellow Sun (next book club book) came through to the iPad, free through my library. Free books - yay!
4. Yummy HM carrot and lentil soup for supper last night, followed by a slice of Xmas cake from the freezer
5. Lovely chat with DH about pensions(!) last night. I think we have a plan. He has allocated his fund from his last employer. He should be able to retire at 55 just from his 'normal' contributions. We are going to stop overpaying the mortgage and focus on maxing out ISAs with a view to being able to retire before then, or pay off the mortgage as a lump sum if we so choose. I'm excited about the options!!!0 -
V Ah, an engineer good move. We are always short, but why? You want get paid as a doctor, and expect carp! Not really! But I has to ask that first. Yes we are always short, but we expect that people are fitting the round hole exactly how we want them to! That is a people problem, not an engineering on. So what is an engineer. Simple.
We provide solutions to people’s problems. Full Stop! That’s it.
Doctors come up with innovative ideas, users wreck what we have built. Engineers provide the solution to others problems. There. That is it!
Now what do I look for. Well, if you have experience, I know someone who has worked on that project. So give me your side of it. No bull. But what if you have left school recently and have no experience? Well the course you did gives me a background to your development. Most important though are your customer facing skills. So if you do not get these at uni, forget it, I cannot teach you that. That is what you learn by working in a bar or elsewhere. That will see you get to me.
And, if you have not used a screw driver before the age of ten, you’ll not be an engineer, so don’t bother.
4 & Oh me!
3 Down the trimming centre tonight as it is just ten weaks until BoP is on Fishermans Wharf. More soon. Booked the whine and mope train yestereve. More trip details soon!

Hello. Just making dinner. Mince and tatties with broccoli and cauliflower and carrots.
Today has been a beautiful day.
Rubbish sleep so quite glad to get up.
Took DD1 to hairdressers. Australian guest and I headed to B and Q for chalk paint wax. Sat in Cost@ at cinema to kill some time ( her treat) , dropped a huge pile of carrier bags at food bank. They've been in my car for weeks after sorting toy gifts at church. Job done!
Picked up DD and we all had a lovely walk round our woods and castle. Stunning day. Finally saw some squirrels (think it might be a bit like looking for koalas in the bush!) saw a woodpecker. Was rather thrilled.
Home. Quick doggy walk. Where we have our quick doggy walk has roadworks and one side of the road is closed. Harrumph!
Our guest was leaving. She gave me a lovely gift of Tasmanian soap. Her mum who I am friendly with is in hospital following a really rather horrific accident so it's been nice to 'chat' with her . And send her photos. Hopefully cheered her up a bit.
Got all hoovered up. Another dog walk. Waxed my dining table and tidied up dining room.
Looking forward to my tea! Will walk down to bus stop for DD1 later. She went to Glasgow with her friend.0 -
1) The clouds cleared and we had sunshine and blue shy for most of the day.
2) DD1 and James came across this morning and we went for a ramble then had lunch at a local coffee house which was lovely.
3) Took my library books back not expecting to get more out and found 3 new to me books by my current favourite author, result!
4) Sorted out my wardrobe and now have a big carrier bag to take to the charity shop.
5) Met a lovely friendly cat in the newsagents this morning, it was sat on a box of canned drinks and much inclined to be sociable, lovely little thing!0 -
1 I did some gardening this morning and had a lot of animal help, planted out some bulbs.
2 Fish and veg was dinner.
3 Lovely to see all the birds back in the garden.
4 Another box of DF’s stuff tackled a throw pile binned, a pass to his sister pile, a pile I was undecided which I looked at and decided to pop it in the recycling bin and proceeded to have a conversation with myself not to keep anything from just random people.
5 Cleaned the fridge and meal planned from the freezer..0 -
1) Had a good sleep last night but woke at 6 so read my book for an hour then dozed for an hour - the joys of not working
2) Went with sister in law to Waitrose for a coffee - I was very good and did not have my usual cheese scone.
3) Hung out a huge load of washing - great seeing it blowing in the sunshine.
4) Went for a lovely brisk walk and managed 3.2 mph which is better than usual. We're both on a health kick so pushing it a bit.
5) Visited Mum and had a really good chat with her today. I even managed to refuse a Tunnocks teacake much to mums shock/horror.
Just enjoyed Silent Witness xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Pleasures for today (Tuesday).
1) Didn't feel too tired despite another feeble 3 hour sleep.
2) Took smaller son to school.
3) Had my hair cut at college and it turns out my hairdresser today was in the same class and one of bigger son's friends at primary school! Good to see him again. He was dead chuffed to find out bigger son is also a student (they didn't go to the same high school so haven't seen each other for years). Haircut was £3 and someone gave me their car parking ticket so that was free.
4) Got my friend's son his birthday voucher from the computer and games shop.
5) Went to Sainsburys for some badly needed shopping.
6) Had a call to the county carer's charity. I've never really felt like a carer for smaller son, as he is a child and I would be caring for him anyway! Some interesting questions from them about how many hours break do I have a week outside of school hours (it wouldn't even be an average of 1 hour) and what hobbies do I have outside the home... erm... They don't actually offer practical help but have breakfasts and a choir to go to.
7) Had an emergency drive round the charity shops as I am doing some invigilating at school tomorrow and my work trousers don't quite fit as they did... Got to the final shop and there they were - smart, grey M and S trousers for £5.
8) Met my school friend for a cup of tea.
9) Made chicken chow mein for tea.
10) Watched Holby City.0 -
