5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

I've been home sewing all day today so I've been very productive and that's always a pleasure.
1) Half hour exercising to Rosemary Connelly.
2) I'm sewing a memory quilt for my youngest grandson so have cut up about 40 baby and toddler garments today. Most have been backed with vilene and cut into 7.5" squares. Some more squares to be prepared then the exciting part of putting them all together.
3) Yesterday's leftover macaroni cheese for lunch.
4) Didn't sleep too well last night so had an hour's nap after lunch - better watch this doesn't get to be a habit.
5) Enjoyed second episode of Silent Witness.
Going to bed now to read xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Pleasures for today (Wednesday).
Hello, Sparrer!
1) Another short sleep. :-/ But had just enough time to get ready.
2) Hens OK but probably surprised to see me before 8am!
3) Did invigilating work all day. Not too bad and nice to see everyone again.
4) Roof man (must find out his name!) came to look at the roof while I was at work. It has always leaked into the chimney. It's quite hard to describe but there is a large, sticking out chimney on the gable end. He rang me up and said he'd already done a couple of repairs while he was up the ladder (!) but 16 tiles are loose, the cement on the very top has perished, the chimney pot is only staying up there under its own weight and the flashing is a botched job with no "soakers" (whatever they are). So will save up and get him back to mend it. It's annoying because it means sooty rainwater runs down the back of the chimney onto the floor and occasionally rain goes on the top of the woodburning stove so I have to keep stove blacking it.
5) Had a £10 amazon voucher. Every so often my life insurance company sends an email and if you log onto your online account, they send you £10!
6) Bigger son went to games night with my brother and brother in law. He stopped for tea at my parents and it seems my mother was being difficult, shouting "Just EAT" at everyone if they spoke whilst eating their tea. Then she fell asleep. Presumably this is red wine induced.
7) Smaller son and I went to Sainsburys and there was a bakery sale so we stocked up the freezer with part baked rolls (much loved by smaller son), scones, burgers buns, bread and fruit loaf, each less than 30p.
8) Watched the Undateables.
9) In bed with 1hwb and will watch the Sue Perkins hosted programme about names.0 -

Hey Sparrer  good to see you posting again!
Wednesday pleasures,
Fair bit of sunshine, enough for solar lights to stay on for a whole hour after twilight.
A good sort through study including two boxes unpacked since coming home from DM’s, cried over some photos, laughed at other and put several to one side for framing. Felt cathartic and weight off shoulders.
Over to yard to await lovely farrier, he was held up and was nearly two hours late by which time I was freezing. Pleasure was he worked quickly once there, my girlie was snug in her fleece rug so additional pleasure of putting cold hands inside her warm rug
Home and warmed up with mug of Ovaltine whilst watching an old MM.
Meatball and spinach gnocchi bake for tea, followed by catch up Only Connect and early night.0 -
) Had a wardrobe sort out yesterday and took things to the Hospice shop this morning.
2) We're going out for lunch today to one of our local garden centres who specialise in their restaurant in locally made scotch eggs.....yum!
3) Did a store cupboard top up shop yesterday which was needed as we ran an before we moved and haven't topped up since we've been here. Winter and 'bad weather' can now happen and we'll be OK!
4) Yesterday afternoon it was after 4.30 before we needed the lights on, it's nice when you notice longer daylight in the afternoons and feel like spring might be waiting in the wings.
5) We walked round the lake yesterday afternoon and there is a small forest of snowdrops up under the mature trees on the grass, so pretty and so cheery after all the cold greyness and in amongst them many shoots for other bulbs to come later on. We were reading the memorial plaques on the benches and came across one for a lady who 'helped plant the daffodils' and I was thankful.0 -

Hi
All I stumbled upon MSE when doing an internet search around deals for utilities - thought Id take a look - the old style board apealed to me and I happened to click on this thread first, and lets just say for the last few days I have been lurking and reading - WOW thats all I have to say - what a bunch of positive inspiring people you all are. Having in the past several months gone through some major upheaval family wise and health wise and the loss of my wage (OH works) I have been feeling very low and lost and for the first time today after reading I am looking around for the posititves in my day so I would like to join in if I may :-
1) Being pain free (tis rare at the mo)
2) Doing a meal plan
3) Knowing after reading your posts it will be ok and yes we can do this
4) lovely warm day here and able to get out and enjoy it (see1)
5) seeing the looking on my daughters face when she came out of school priceless (something I never saw when I was working)
Thanks for reading -if there are any other threads you care to point my way i would be greatful - theres so many

Hi Lottiealice, welcome aboard the OS threads and welcome aboard this one. In a world of general discontent it's nice to look at life and realise that there are good things to enjoy in even the greyest day and that it's not the great big things that make us happy but the smallest and freest ones that make you appreciate how good it is to be alive and share everyone else's pleasures too which also free and happiness making!0
