Evening! I'm upstairs out the way of more noisy folk.
Very foggy start to the day, horrid to drive in first thing.
Parked same place as yesterday . Another workshop attended. Had to leave 15 minutes early as I had a dental appointment .
Absolutely belted down the road ( speed walking all the way) walked into dentist was waiting in queue at reception when dentist called though to say he was ready for me . Receptionist said no she's not here...then called down the queue! Straight in and straight back out. See ya in 6 months. No charges! Fabulous NHS
Back up the hill to car. Nipped into store and got loads of RTC fruit/veg for £1.26.
Went to visit friend. Took Haggy Boo.
Nipped to T for cream.
Home and the niecelys were coming for tea. Made macaroni, potato wedges( from RTC spuds) 2 tubs of 10p cheesy mashed potato, 10p salad leaves, garlic bread. Dinner for 8 cost around £2.00.
Pudding was a choice of blackberry (free) and RTC pears (8p) crumble and made one for niece to take home. And a cheesecake made from using up some Christmas biscuits, a tub of soft cheese bought weeks ago and cream with tinned peaches whipped through it. Rather tasty.
Quick ( by our standards ) chat with friend on phone.
Much laughter and ribbing of others around the extended dining table.0 -
1 Not too much achieved here from de cluttering and painting each day this week I lost the mojo today and achieved very little.
2 Meat and bread from the freezer out to defrost.
3 Fish and veg was an early dinner.
4 My half price joe brown dress arrived and its lovely I've lost more weight than I realised lovely but not ideal if choosing dress sizes as not completely down another size yet.
5 I popped to Mr T and other than the milk which was full price the rest was RTC, I have to admit one thing was a big cake reduced from 12 to 1.20 DH and I will have a slice before portioning into the freezer.0 -
It's great to get back into a normal routine this week. My five today are;
1) Straight into housework this morning. Changed bed sheets and the new pillowcases are looking great.
2) Lovely bright and windy day so hung out a washing of towels and bed sheets. All now dry and stored away.
3)Knitting Group in the village library restarted today. Great seeing the girls ( we're all in our 50s, 60s and one 75 year old but we're all still girls at heart) and having a great blether with a little knitting. We also enjoyed some leftover Christmas cake the librarian brought in for us.
4) While cooking pollock, hm oven chips and roast veg for dinner I also baked some rock buns. Very yummy
5) I watched the 3 episodes of Manhunt tonight while finishing knitting a buggy blanket.
Really great day today xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Pleasures for today (Thursday).
1) A fractionally better sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Work came and went. I was only there for 2 hours so can't complain!
4) Spent the afternoon in the museum where I didn't get a job, doing my induction as a volunteer. More organised than any other museum I've been involved with!
5) Bigger son drove me there (he had afternoon at college) then drove back. Driving improving gradually.
6) Booked the place on the carers' choir and also a breakfast run by them locally.
7) Spoke to my neighbour (it's always through her upstairs window! As she is uphill, her downstairs is sort of underground so her ground floor windows don't open). She confirmed my quote for the roof mending is very reasonable (she recommended the chap) then we discussed the local timber yard which has now been on fire for 19 hours. One of the fire engines refilled using the hydrant right outside our house. There were 20 engines there at one point, including some from Shropshire.
8) Kedgeree for tea then some Gu little puddings.
9) My brother came round for cards.
10) In bed with 1 hwb and not sure what I shall watch/listen to.
11) (nothing in chronological order now!) Bigger son applied for a very local job at Go Ape. He's got loads of climbing experience/a certificate so it would be just the job over the summer.0 -

Good morning,
Recent Pleasures...
1. Little conversations with DD on WhatsApp.
2. DH took Doggie to the vets and it only cost £22
3. Sold the Piano my students have upcycled into a desk. Very proud of them.
4. EBay parcels dispatched at the Coop and rtc bargains purchased. Win win :j (Also, witnessed two lads blatantly walking out with a bag load of stuff, driving off, lights off! Staff got the registration number.......DH was stood next to me, and missed the whole thing :rotfl:).
5. Started the 'Great De clutter' of my room at school.....students are converting a metal stationery cabinet into a tool cupboard. I have organised the stationery cupboard using old box files and I have worked my way around 2/3 of the shelves in the room, organising the resources into boxes.......need to get some uniform matching storage boxes to make it look nicer, but at least I know what we have got, and roughly, where it is stored.....it would be nice if I could do the same at home :rotfl:
Woke up yesterday composing an email in my head, to send to my boss, with a list of concerns.........I will probably never send it, but it is on my mind.
Have a lovely day0 -
Thursday pleasures,
Fast day so to keep mind off hunger I whizzed through the house, scrubbing bathrooms and mopping floors.
Pea & Ham soup for my much anticipated lunch
Over at the yard and toxic diva of fellow owner was leaving, she will not be missed!
Text from eldest DN, she and hubbie are coming for lunch on sunday as well as DSIL, partner, other niece, might be a squash around our little dining table but lovely.
Watched back to back episodes of Silent Witness.0 -
Welcome newbie! Lottie
V Bins out of the parish yesterday and boy, what bovvers there is out there. So please watch your purses!
4 BoP put his lottery ticket on and then played a game with the change. BoP will be inn town this evening at the flicks, free from bank, and then will be having a steak. You know what happened to BoP’s flutter! Big train to Warster is readied!
3 Set my putah offs at the mill to do a run last nite and thankfully IT has not carried out any downgrades during the course of the evening! Results are being crunched now in the boiler room.
2 Tomorrow BoP is inn town to have his grooming at the barber. BoPsie will be having her blue rinse as well. As BoPsie’s hair thing takes longer than BoPs brush and comb job, BoP will be next door in the man cave having a wobbleade and a bacon and egg banjo! Proper foods and good for you! Please note that some media induced hype about dry meat free month has not reached house of BoP! Other foods are available!
Having one today! Nows as I has tolds you that shirt maker up Norff is well pleased with our cloth from mill, he has givens us more work to do. You knows what that means to BoP. Pension boost!
I asked our Alexa thing what does a woman like. I cannot shut the thing up now and that was on Monday!0 -
1. Watching Father Brown this afternoon.
2. Reading (library book). Trying to cut down on Kindle downloads.
3. Cleaning the loo .. not a pleasure but was pleased when it was done!!
4. Frugal lunch and tea.
5. Watching Grantchester this evening.0 -
1) Rugby tonight, we're likely to be thoroughly rolled up but it will be a good game to watch.
2) Lovely walk this afternoon, footpaths, arboretum, round the lake and back home, very nice it was too.
3) Tea and some of the Christmas Lebekuchen Hearts we opened at Christmas to nibble with it, delicioso!
4) Off to babysit the Grandpickles tomorrow while mum goes off to a spa with some university friends and dad goes off to meet his dad and watch their football club match, should be fun for each of us in different ways.
5) The info on the news this morning that all my favourite things (if the days worth of food they had on display is indicative) are healthy, full of fibre and actually good for me.....bring on the PORRIDGE!!!0
