3) Got the oldest grandson his birthday present owing from earlier in December in the form of football 'skins' and a football t shirt to go on top.
4) Tea when I got home on the bus, and my lunch by 2.45 I was quite hungry!

The horror! I've just written all my days pleasures on another thread in another forum! Waaaah. Didn't even stop to copy and paste as just wanted it off!
Start again!
It's been a lengthy day. Kind of went on and on for ages!
Downstairs loo is finished, repainted mirror. A couple of new things with a few old things and it looks mighty fine!
Living room is painted. Pictures back up.
Dining table just needs waxed before anyone (GN) gets near it! Painted the extender bit and might just leave it up as long just now.
Had to go back down to the blooming opticians to pick up Dd2 new specs...managed not to buy ice cream.
Son has just put new blind up in main bathroom. It's sat behind my bedroom door for months. As I had to wait till plumber had finished silicone-ing. Anyway. It's done and another job ticked off the list.
Cajun chicken pasta for tea.
Started a new book this evening. Sat and read for a couple of hours.
Just about to watch Casualty then bedtime.0 -
A few for today
1. Delivery of new fridge freezer - this will be third one in 5 years. Hopefully will last longer than the others. Got 2 year guarantee.
2. Good session at gym
3. Eating chocolates.
4. Nice glass of wine.
5. Not sure a pleasure but feeling the benefit of Pilates class.0 -
1 We were in an enviable position of our older car has one days insurance left on it and a full tank of fuel, so we loaded up with animals and a flask and went out through the backroads over to Folkstone across to Dungeness. We refreshed, watched the train, took the animals for a walk, and met the most wonderful lady who lives in one of the houses.
2 Then backroads to Langden cliffs where we watched ferries manoeuvring and had the flask but decided to stop in and pick up tea at a takeaway, now very over full we headed home and relaxed.
3 Hot drinks, Christmas chocolate orange.
4 Enjoyed watching Star Trek into Darkness.
5 Writing again, I’ve been writing each day so far and enjoying it.0 -
PK - we're thinking of going on holiday in that part of the world! Where do you recommend? We only go to London then turn round and come home again so we have never been to Kent or Surrey (have been to West Sussex). Biking, possibly canoeing, castles, National Trust, beaches are all interesting to us.
Pleasures for today (Saturday).
1) A lie in.
2) Hens well.
3) Did various bits of housework.
4) Pork loin chops for tea with roast pots, parsnips, carrots plus HM stuffing and peas.
5) Enjoyed the Michael McIntyre show (not very high-brow but I do like it) then Casualty.
6) Making various plans for this year.0 -
Saturday pleasures
Got up at 8:30 so I could pay the milkman - owed him 6 weeks money  Pleasure is I am no longer in debt :T
Seeing the calendar every time I come in the front door - January’s photo is of a little owl on a fence postmakes me smile every time
Christmas present from DH arrived today - an Heng lamp - a beautiful item which will go on my bedside table when DH changes the socket to a USB capable socket
Emptied under sink cupboard in kitchen & DH tightened a loose connection from the washing machine :T - hopefully no more stinky smell
Cleaned shelves & returned cleaning products (except 4 half empty items to be donated) & cloths
Made a very tasty soup for lunch with enough left for my lunch tomorrow
DH picked up fish & chips for dinner - yummy & no cooking :T
No street light for the 6th night running :T but cloudy again so no star gazing

1. Met a friend for coffee in a local garden centre. Very enjoyable chat.
2. Walked round their Christmas grotto. It is magical but the last year they will do it due to the negative comments on social media as people were unable to buy tickets to take their children there as they sell out fast.
3. All Christmas decorations down. The house of at least downstairs is tidy.
4. Chat with neighbour.
5. Met friends for a meal. It was great meeting up with them.0 -
Frith, I'm from Kent but don't live there now. The Weald of Kent is nice countryside although you won't see many hills. And obviously there is a lot of coastline. There's several steam railways, lots of NT and EH, places like chartwell, Ightham Mote, Dover Castle, ....
Currently sat on the balcony in shorts and vest top waiting for the sun to creep round . Pleasures for yesterday
1. Uneventful train journey, always good if you're heading for the airport.
2. Breakfast / lunch in spoons - veggie breakfast with extra egg and a large gin
3. Flight uneventful - also good. Drank gin
4. Read "Eleanor Oliohant is completely fine" - all of it, literally read the last page as the plane landed having started it in spoons.. Bliddy marvellous
5. Found sort net, the supermarket was still open and we had a meze type meal - with more gin:rotfl:
Have a lovely day folks, a quiet one for us, in the 22 - 25 degree heat :TI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thank you for your comforting words .yes you are right the pleasure is that I got through the day
DH was 'better ' this year ,usually he spends most of the day in tears ,think I felt worse because I am usually coping with him .
Son in law turned up with the kids a nd flowers ,very often he won't let them come because 'they have all moved on ,'now he has a new partner .
Anyway pleasures for yesterday
1 only gained 1 lb at SW
2 DGD and I went to see repeated 'live'screening of the Nutcracker from the ROH at our local theatre
It was fantastic and we both enjoyed it
3 Dinner at friends there were 6 of us to use up their Christmas gammon ,they are also wine group members so the chat continued from Thursday .except that I was sober (1 glass as driver ) walking distance for the other couple but not for us .
4 No falls
5 slept well
DfV ,I would love a booze cruise/ lead a wine group expedition ,but sadly not going to happen .
I've had to make the decision no more day trips I just can't leave DH for a whole day anymore and he isn't mobile enough now to take part .
There is a photo of him on my friends calendar taken 18/12 ago .The deterioration is obvious and huge .He asked me how long ago it was taken and was quite distressed ,it brings it home sharply
What is the saying 'Men make plans and God laughs 'we had so many plans Then ,Our daughter was told her cancer was terminal one month before I retired ,she died 19/12 later .,our grandchildren lived with us six days a week for the next 5 years while their Dad found a new partner ,and decided he wanted a family again ,(no regrets about them being with us at all)
Then just as we drew breath DH got Parkinson's ,it's a particularly aggressive type that has not responded well to any drugs and the decline is rapid .
That is my reason for joining this thread ,it is too easy to feel bitter and twisted and I need to concentrate on the many pleasures in life ,there still sore many .
Sorry for the rambling
Thankyou0 -
VJs mum ,glad you enjoyed Eleanor Oliphant ,how soon did you realise about Mothers visits ?
I did quite early on but many members of my book group didn't0
