2) dobbies with dd1, dd2 and dm. we had 'free' tea (2 a month with membership) and scones (2 for 1 after 3)
3) ds home. haven't seen him since the summer. phd going well but don't like how he's got it into his head 'noone finishes in 3 years' (his funding lasts 3 years). i have reminded him one of his supervisors did and his father was only 1 month over
4) another day of celebration for me (2-0) and bop (4-0)
5) then played a ceilidh for friends' son's wedding other side of st andrews. lovely setting and great dancing. we were treated to a taxi both ways which meant we could all enjoy ourselves and not get back too lateMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Saturday).
1) A lie in!
2) Part baked rolls for lunch.
3) Hens OK but a bit grumpy that they were put back in their run quickly (I needed to go out).
4) Went to the football with smaller son. Opposition got the first goal and our team kept attacking but couldn't quite get a goal. Probably had 15-20 attempts then equalised at 90+7! Lost my gloves between the car and football but some kind soul on the footpath had picked them up and put them on the post so I found them on the way back (footpath overlooking the Santa Specials, VJsmum).
5) Cheating tea of pizza then mince pies!
6) Phoned my school friend.
7) In bed with 1hwb and might try and listen to Dead Ringers again.0 -
Good morning,
Thank you for sharing your OS preparations. Feeling very festive on here
Saturday
1. Started the washing backlog.
2. Silver hair dye has evened out the white/ grey.
3. Trip to charity superstore with DS2. On a mission to find joggers, as he is now over 6 foot and everything is half mast! Found some posh jeans for DS1 and a jumper for DH. Nothing for me
4. Easy tea of chicken wrapped in bacon and wedges.
5. Another Christmas concert at Symphony Hall. Our present to friends. Sat in the choir stalls in front of The a Massive pipe organ, behind the orchestra, because I wanted to see what it was like :rotfl: ......Totally different perspective watching the conductors face, seeing how bored some of the orchestra have become by yet another carol concert, how animated and enthusiastic the cello section were twirling their cellos and high fiving the difficult bits! An experience, but I don't need to do it again. The sound was a bit strange from behind, and being on view to the whole of the audience was a bit uncomfortable :rotfl: Jolly good sing along!
Have a lovely day......I shall be dashing to Lidl and the Emporium, so wish me luck!

AWOL - hoping to have more pleasures to post
Hi, I went on holiday with a friend to New York on the 8th. We had a great, if exhausting time. My friend had never been before so we rushed to see and do everything. On the second last day I woke with severe low back pain, possibly due to too much walking and standing in long queues. Luckily my friend had been a Practice Nurse for many years and with her help and painkillers etc I was able to return home.
Immediately on my return I once again became embroiled in an ongoing family situation that actually has nothing to do with me but always involves me, no matter how much I try to distance myself.
I have felt very low both physically and emotionally and have not been reading or posting on MSE. My back and mood are now improving and I want to get back to normal. I loved contributing to this thread as it lets me focus on the positive aspects of my life - shoving the negative stuff into the background.
My son and his girlfriend are arriving from England this afternoon and are taking myself and Mum out to dinner so looking forward to this.
No more negative stuff only positive pleasures in future xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Good luck HE, cracking post Dfv
Saturday pleasures,
Early start and in Ely by 8am, christmas market was already busy and good to see a queue for the f&v stall, it’s not all about the emporiums.
Visited the cheese shop and despite the early hour tested out a couple of new to us inc a horseradish cheddar that cleared my sinuses a treat.
Talking of which we did treat ourselves to breakfast out, tasty food but had to laugh at Capt S’s look of dismay at size of coffee cup.
Cleared my mending pile, had suspected moths when holes appeared in a couple of jumpers suspiciously in the same spot, however suspect tracked down to belt buckle.
Over at the yard, tidied up madam’s legs and feet, she was a good girl and stood quietly. Am trying to ignore the various intrigues and dramas emanating from one particular person, there is always one at every yard.0 -

V Bin to the emporium of W8RZ and Partner this morn. parked up early and just got the normal, plus a bottle of wine, not French, for BoPsie. The muppets were fighting over the veg! The sickly desserts that will by pass the normal table, will be collected next weak in the food bin!
4 Now 34 years after being in Cyprus, horrid place, and dropping food onto the needy, we have come to such greed over a meal?
3 Watched the Big Bash this morn, as I was inn and out early while the muppets formed a queue, good one today and another tomorrow.
2 Letter to santa written and blown up the chimney. Best he gets it right this year!
Having one today. There is so much waste this time of year!

Bedtime.
All is quiet...though a seven year old is not quite asleep and it's almost 10.30pm.
Saturday.
Popped over to a friends first thing on the off chance she was in , she wasn't so left her gift on her doorstep. Emailed to say I'd left it and got a reply late last night to say she'd been out a dog walk and had just missed me.
Made brownies.
Went to the mothers! Much tidying done again. Was given a half dead plant 'actually that's your Christmas present' thanks. I got nothing last year so it's an improvement of sorts I suppose. I kindly wrapped up my brothers double box of Jaffa cakes...hope he doesn't read this and the suprise is ruined!
Popped into friends on way back. Her daughter had picked up a gift for me for another friend. Quick chat with her.
GN arrived for a sleepover.
Went to see OHs best friend. Took some photo albums down that were when they were younger. I don't know who half the folk are and it seemed right that he had it. DD1 had started going through boxes!
Home via some other Christmas lights in the estate opposite ours.
For today. Up early. Just me for a while when everyone was still asleep. Made meringues and pavlovas. I'm making a food parcel for my mother and nephew in law. So far there's tablet, brownies and meringues.
I went to church. It was the nativity service which is always nice.
Popped into a couple of shops but didn't really need much.
Filled up petrol tank.
Home. Quick dog walk then another one just before we went out partaking in the local lights!
Christingle service at church. Bit overwhelmed at times. I can't quiet believe I'm about to do my second Christmas without my lovely husband. There's a slight emptiness. But have my little family and friends around me.
Home. With a slightly hyper seven year old! After everyone came upstairs I just sat in silence !0 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in!
2) Have done some tidying - hoovered and steamed floors, loads of washing, cleaned bathroom etc.
3) Hens well and I cleaned their sleeping quarters out.
4) Part baked rolls for lunch.
5) Smaller son made posh burgers for tea.
6) Watched Casualty and enjoyed the Chris Packham thing about the skies.
7) Watched Countryfile to watch my dad and brother! Dad breaking the fourth wall by grinning at the camera from behind Adam Henson :-D Brother looks like Louis Theroux in a Hobson's brewery woolly hat.
8) Very quiet day really.0
