Hello, it's Saturday evening . There's to be a party in the house tonight ...a kind of early farewell/ pre exam / won't be here for 18ths and 21sts so there will be a houseful. Yikes.

House looks tidy...that's because it's either at Salvos or its in my room! I do not know how I'm getting into bed tonight and goodness knows what happens if I need the loo! The linen cupboard was emptied and sorted and 2 big Ikea bags filled, they've been in the hall all week. They're in my room. 3 suitcases to be filled with stuff to stay here for now are in my room. They will be filled and then hidden in the ensuite so packers don't take them! Then another load of random stuff has been placed out the way in my room!

Many trips to salvos today. So all the stuff I had put out for garage sale that hadn't sold has been donated. The kids have cleared a load of stuff and thats been donated. We put a shelf unit (£2 years ago from ikea ) out on grass verge , gone in no time...then met my little neighbours aged 4 and 2 and they told me they had taken it and I told them there's another one so I will leave it on their front porch once it's emptied!

Chat with neighbour who had heart transplant and he looks so well. What a difference from a few weeks ago.

Had lunch out with girls. Local cafe, I just had chips. Much needed after all the faff around us ! Dropped stuff at salvos on the way and the recycling bin. We had a good laugh.

Grocery shop first thing, a few RTC but looking forward to proper RTC when I come back. 7 weeks from now and I will be home.

Person picked up her purchases today ...gave me $100 for $80 stuff . Why not just have the right money? I ain't a bank! Will be glad when I don't have to sell anything anymore! A few more things to try and sell though!

Picked some camelias from the garden. Haven't bought flowers in a while.

Getting washing dried in between showers. Including baby clothes! DD1 found a bag of their baby clothes that she'd used for her doll ( who has to come home with me) so they're all clean! Some going to salvos. Some will be for her children to play with! Just my bedding to do tomorrow then I will be in a sleeping bag! I don't like sleeping bags as feel very constrained but it will be fine! DD1 even offered to go and buy me a quilt but its fine.

72 hours and it will all be away and can relax a tiny bit!

    Have a good weekend!
  • FAB game last night, we watched on TV Glaawwster deserved the win! DD has a season ticket and goes as often as she can and said the atmosphere in the stadium was the best she's EVER felt, well don Johan Akkerman! I look forward to an interesting season.

    1) Nice day here, temperature in the 20s and still no need for a jacket.

    2) Trip to w8rose was productive of a few YS bargains.

    3) It's DD1s birthday today, she's off to a gig this evening with her sister and family and the 'big' act is Elbow. I'm frankly jealous!

    4) Just going to get Cookie and go for a walk, fab on a day like this

    5) Found a book for DD1s Christmas stocking in a charity shop this morning, jolly good stuff!

Ooh I love Elbow - seen them twice this year (once on their own and once at Glastonbury).

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Got through a key text book (I should have read it months ago but it only just occurred to me to look in the British Library). It has great stuff in it.
    2. Curry for tea - a bit more eased out of the freezer (though more has just gone in)
    3. Warm sunshine
    4. More of DD's stuff filtered 'away'. Thank goodness i kondoed the house - goodness knows where it would all have gone otherwise.
    5. DD has three job interviews now :T

Having an 'at home alone' day as OH and DS have gone to the footie and DD has gone to the theatre and to stay with her friend.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • The weekends plans of visiting DF and the in laws all scuppered by bronchitis type thing and not wanting to share it around, in fact the list of places we should have been this weekend is a few, I suspect it will all be next weekend now for the non camping things which we had to bow out of.

1 Left 3lbs of blackberry’s and few apples simmering away on the stove, they spent the day sieving through cloth, I boiled it up into jam and potted up just now.;)
2 DH kindly sewed the cloth for filtering, and fixed holes in 2 of my t shirts, sewed a new caravan bar cover and is sewing a new windbreak.
3 Painkillers, vitamins, vit c, snoozing, tea and more tea.:o
4 Haddock with chips and peas was dinner, I used the leftover heat of the oven to sterilise the jars, still have batch 2 of blackberries, plums and damsons to cook up at some point.
5 DH wanted to upgrade something on the van and shopped like me, found 2 discount vouchers and a new customer discount, took it to over half price. That’s the way to do it.:money:

The morning after the night before....very stormy outside as forecast. Sounds wild.

No idea when the last stragglers left, they were still singing at 1am.

I kind of knew / recognised most that were there and they were all very well behaved & polite ...no one vomited ( my big concern) or spilled drink on my sofas!

It was so nice to see DD1's school friends , not seen altogether in 3 years, though I've seen them individually in that time. They all used to come over for study sessions when I would be in my element feeding them. All lovely young women and young man now!

Her ex workmates are pretty hardcore drinkers ! Oh my...they were the singers!

Pizza was inhaled in about 2 minutes....just gone.

Girls were given some beautiful gifts and lovely words written in their cards.

Our home's last party. It's seen many a gathering for a variety of reasons over the past almost 6 years. This was the first of all the farewells . We have met some beautiful people in our time here and for that I'm grateful. We came out here knowing no one but we will leave having had the opportunity to have met many lovely folk.

Haggis after the initial few barks decided to go with the flow and welcome everyone ! Much belly rubbing.

I'm now going to get up and face the debris...one of DD1's friends has stayed & wants the ring pulls off cans.

Managing to sleep on about 1/3 of my bed as 2/3 is covered in stuff...my whole room is full of stuff ....is it nearly Tuesday?

Mrs L, what do you use apple chutney with? Or any kind of chutney...are there differences other than fruit type? I need chutney educating.

    Great Jenny report.

    * Continuing to use stuff up from the pantry.:A
    Made a pie.

    * Halfway finished a box of paperwork filing. I also need to shred.

    * Love love love cooking in my kitchen! Tacos tonight.

    * DD1 had a hot tub given to her. She and Quoye laid the brick foundation and when the men delivering the hot tub were going to place it Quoye corrected them by saying "Turn it a little more this way. My daughter is a bossy control person and so the apple hasn't fallen far from said tree! ;):D (no one ever said that about me :rotfl:)

    * An unexpected oil revenue check in the mail is enough to pay 2/3's of our property taxes. :j

That is amazing! He's such a cutie! Is his brother good looking too?

Looking up apple chutney. Looks like a meat condiment.....Pork and chicken?
Tomato chutney uses? I found a recipe for tomato chutney grilled cheese sandwiches.

Coo, that's a claim to fame, Frith!

    1. Sunshine

    2. Had a good chat to a friend about how I'm feeling with lack of control in my life at the moment. I'm still feeling pants but don't feel like it's totally too much right now, there is a chink of light at the end of the tunnel....

    3. The flat I'm potentially interested in is still available. I've asked to go and see it again with DD and need to get all my paperwork up to date for the housing association/mortgage company (and put in some major prayers!)

    4. Surprised KW by turning up at the shop he often helps out at this afternoon for an hour :) He had just messaged to say he was on his own and bored witless, so it was perfect timing!! It was swoon-worthy to see him :)

    5. Had a fun evening with a friend, her daughter and another couple of people I know. Dinner, chats and games - just what I needed. Sadly DD decided not to come with me, but hopefully I'll persuade her the next time we do it.
  • MILA chutney is a lovely sweet/sour condiment and has many uses! it is also very long lasting in store and gets better as it matures in it's jars. You can make chutney from many fruits and some veg and sometimes combinations of the two. I make a lot of apple chutney as we have the big old apple tree in the garden and I don't like losing the 'drop apples' but I also make marrow chutney, pear chutney, red tomato chutney, green tomato chutney, plum chutney, pear chutney, and if I have peaches and nectarines that don't ripen in the fruit bowl and then go 'all at once' I make chutney from them too! It goes into sandwiches with meats or cheeses, can be stirred into meat loaf, accompanies curries, lovely with cheese on toast, is an integral part of a 'Ploughmans Lunch' (traditional pub fare and is good bread, good cheese/ham/pate/scotch egg/pork pie with apple slices, chutney, pickled onions, tomatoes, salad leaves, grapes) and can be stirred into dishes that taste 'dull' to add a little piquancy. Useful stuff!
