Frith

Pleasures for yesterday (Friday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Went to the coffee morning and did a crossword.

3) Went to the charity shops in floody town but bought nothing.

4) Cleaned undergrowth from around the fruit trees.

5) Watched HIGNFY.

1. played a ceilidh at a friend's 40th then enjoyed good food and good company
2. day in Glasgow listening to excellent PhD talks
3. took the ember bus so travel was free (though did have to get up early!)
4. there were plenty of left-over sandwiches at lunch and soup so I filled my flask and doggy bag for my supper on the bus home
5. after a short nap went to watch the Scotland game with MrG and DrM

For the weekend.

Pppffft at the weather! Atrocious. Heating is on, thick socks are on and a jumper on a jumper!

A couple of pop in visits from friends which has been lovely.

Round at DD2 and waiting on them popping round soon.

The ever so rare visit ( though he was here two weeks ago) unannounced visit of the lesser spotted brother! He had bought a new car so I think he was showing it off! Though it was very nice! Had a wee spin in it!

Popped in to see mums NDN yesterday for 10 minutes…left about 90 minutes later and the dog reminded me I was late with his tea!

Time for my lavender to bloom! My favourite plant and that’s the established in the garden plants starting to flower. Been trying to weed as and when and in between all the weathers we’ve been having!

Chat with neighbour this afternoon.

And chat on phone to friend this afternoon…we usually catch up every day but this was about 4 days worth of chatter!

Pleasures for today (Sunday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Went to the local shopping centre to redeem my free biscuits voucher at M and S.

3) Went to see bigger son and his fiancee at their flat.

4) Tidied up, put washing on etc.

5) Did 1.5 hours of weeding.

6) Chips for tea.

Really must get back into the habit of posting daily so for yesterday,

C dog made an early start with a need for a wee just after 5, she looked disappointed when I decided to go back to bed for an hour.

Caught up on things Ambridge then the rest of the morning was spent in the garden, worked around Capt S cutting the grass and fed the veg & roses plus lots of weeding. So many bees on the Lavender, Nepeta and Salvia.

After lunch sat down with my book only to wake up at 4!

Listened to the News quiz.

Evening walk with C dog then home to watch the last Downtown Abbey film, bit silly really but I love all the clothes etc.

Up early and off we went to CP…I’m a motorway all the time person now…with a why has it taken so long ( driver anxiety) but if we go at the right times it’s not too crazy.

Lovely early morning walk.

Lovely swim.

Another walk before heading back home…via DD2. Had lunch with them and then doggy and I came home.

Washed all the swimming stuff and got that out…we have a nice day!

Pleasures for today (Monday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Went to art class and everyone was very jolly today.

3) Went to local SEND college cafe for a cup of tea then to Aldi.

4) Spent hours having a bonfire. Found 3 slabs hidden in the undergrowth that I will use.

5) Did macaroni cheese with mushrooms for late tea. Fairy cakes in to oven as I type.

for yesterday

1. left over bubbly and birthday cake from Provost's party after church service and a lovely catch-up with people
2. home to check mr doggie-chops who was of course fast asleep then had a snoozette myself after lunch which meant i was late for westfest which meant i missed the rain!
3. took mr doggie-chops to westfest - he loved it - lots of sniffing, several squashed chips and lots of new friends, 2-legged and 4-legged
4. then we went to mennies with Mr G and wife, Mr E and Dr M - we were joined by a couple more friends and mr doggie-chops got lots of fuss, a couple of dog biccies then caught up on his beauty sleep under the table
5. friend came round for a light supper, bringing yummy olive bread

and for today

1. sunny day hooray so got washing on out and 2nd load on
2. fabulous meeting with new admin - the one hour meeting extended to 2.5 hours and we got soooo much covered
3. nipped home to get washing in and 2nd load spun then piano lesson then back to work - all good
4. book club - we had a great hour chatting about the book (Red Rust Road) and now have our next book - the night he left - which starts with the Tay Bridge Disaster
5. some beautiful clouds while i was chatting to dad on the phone

Highdays

Hello again.

Lovely to see the sunshine back.

Some pleasures:

1. Lovely couple of days away with brother and SIL. A good catch up and meander round a couple of historic houses we had wanted to visit. Trip down memory lane for SIL as we stayed in the town where her mother was born and a lot of her family come from. A good walk round in t he evening and she recognised lots of places from her childhood.
2. Back in time for middle grandson's art exhibition at college yesterday evening. Some of his A Level art work was on display, very proud grandma moment.
3. Little grandson's residential trip is coming up, they are happy to take him and have tailored some events so he wil be able to take part in most things when he is away. He has coped amazingly well and hopefully gets the plaster off in July.
4. As always, good to be home, pootling and pottering in my happy place.
5. A very naughty pleasure, this one. We had been anticipating an invitation to an event that we really did not want to attend but would have been very tricky and probably impossible to refuse. The invitation has landed and, yippee, it's right in the middle of one of our holidays so we have a very legal excuse not to attend. I'm afraid this had given me a degree of pleasure!!

Right, a coffee has just arrived so I'll read back over everyone's pleasures and then have a meander round the garden. A very nothing much day today, nothing at all planned so will take it as it comes.

Good afternoon.

We're back from our little NE adventure. A stay in a beautiful castle with lovely grounds and courtyards, a spending spree at a shopping centre and a day at Beamish - all courtesy of a Durham tourist board competition. Although we've been to Durham city before, we've never explored the county, even though it's only about 2 hours up the A1. It's very beautiful and much greener than I expected.. All in all, a treat!

Back to reality now. So far I've had a cup of tea and done the crossword. There's washing to do, of course, but as we keep getting very heavy hail showers, that can wait until tomorrow.
